I agree with Paimon being a god who's going through erosion. I've been saying that it's a little sus that the longer our adventure goes on, Paimon seems to begin knowing less and less when she's the one who taught us everything we know in the beginning. Also, if Paimon is the protector of the stars then the star falling in the unreconciled stars event could have been a sign of that-

When he told the Traveler about finding a way to “record history” followed by “If our history is engraved in your memory, it will one day accompany you into another world. 1. When you send characters on expeditions, you can still use them suggesting that they’re in two places at once. Shape shifting into those characters explains how they’re off somewhere else and in your party.
    2. In the world quest where you’re filming with Xavier, he calls you a star and the traveler seems *very* caught off guard by this, almost as if he’s shocked someone may know his true identity, or confused as to why it feels familiar being referred to as one.

When you said, the traveler is a star that wishes for assistance from other stars to gain new powers (~ 12:48 ), it reminded me of the fight against Ei in her Plane of Euthymia. The traveler resonated with people's ambitions, and those ambitions lit up the sky in Ei's domain like stars, which helped us fight against Ei for the last time.

    • @JulesVante
      @JulesVante 2 роки тому +46

And about that, I never have seen anything addressing it, but Yae said to the Traveler that the ambitions were entrusted to him/her. She says "to you" while talking to the twin. That keep me thinking ever since, cuz that makes you think that the Traveler must have any type of connection with Celestia if they can resonate with the visions, and also the ambitions were entrusted to them too.

The shape of the star also has some resemblance to the star that ‘opens up’ when Dainsleif talks about ‘the dream yet to be dreamed’ in the Teyvat Story Preview for Khaenriah. Since you mention that the star shape is the same as when the Traveler resonates with the dreams/ambitions of previous vision holders, that probably means Khaenriah Power has some relation to the stars we had during the Ei fight. It would make sense as well as the stars are OP during that fight.

I just had a thought. What if when Visions are granted, a person's memories (related to the formation of their Will) are removed from them and inscribed into the stars; their Vision is essentially a conduit to harnessing the power of their Constellation. That would explain why stripping someone of their Vision not only removes their Will, but even the memories of their lives. (perhaps much of the storage of their memories is shifted to their Constellation?). Then, the Traveler is simply able to channel their memories and powers via the very same Constellations. Would also explain why there are always new dialogue lines related to ongoing events, as the Constellation is always up-to-date with that person's memories.

I don't think the Traveler is literally physically shapeshifting as much as it's a metaphor of us summoning characters powers from their stars. Whenever we fight in front of other characters they react as if we fought by ourselves in the Traveler form and whenever there is cutscene of us fighting it always shows the Traveler form as well. Otherwise I really love this theory, it ties in very neatly into the whole "memory" theme.

I've recently considering actually that Paimon is essentially a sentient vision, containing the traveller's original powers that were sealed by the UG and that our growing bond with her is what's slowly allowing our powers to return to us - something that is explicitly stated to be happening as the story goes on.

addendum: paimon being a god of something is a theory i love to see/hear about, just a matter of which one/what. My personal headcanon is that paimon was the previous sustainer of heavenly principles but was overthrown by the unknown god. She probably has a full normal human sized body but losing her place in the godly realms caused her size to miniaturize to stay alive, and along with said miniaturization she lost access so most/some of her memories, but kept access to her 'bargain' shop(if bargain shop is not just a game mechanic).

Your theory about Paimon as the Starkeeper is very interesting. I thought of Paimon as meant to be a sort of parallel to Dainsleif like the Abyss Twin is to the Traveler. Both Paimon and Dainsleif have star motifs, including the infamous galaxy cape in their character design. Both are travelling companions of the twins. With Dainsleif as the Twilight Sword and Paimon saying she's the "God of Protection," both companions have a sort of role of protecting the twins. The only difference is that Dainsleif failed to protect the Twin, which is why the join the Abyss Order. Hence the line "show me you are worthier than I to rescue her" and him being a sort of knight from his title as the Twilight Sword. On the other hand, Paimon is always there to support the Traveler when things went badly like at the end of the We Will Be Reunited quest and at the beginning of Inazuma's prologue where Paimon encourages the Traveler to keep going. With that, I thought Paimon is meant to protect the Traveler from losing their sense of self and to not commit the same mistake their twin did.
I might be going a tad bit overboard with this speculation but I thought it's something interesting. But I do think your theory about Paimon as the Starkeeper and the Twins being stars makes a whole lot more sense.

That... makes too much sense, and another thing that proves this theory right, in Inazuma's first story quest, when we are showing archery skills to the soldiers we need to use a bow character to destroy the dummies, but when we finish the trial and go talk to the npc, they say that the TRAVELER skills with the bow is good, which is really weird, unless if this theory is actually right, the traveler may get the ability to use a bow by shapeshifitting into a bow-user

Then it would mean that the traveler/star can manipulate what human see them. Or, the game mechanics in fact "visualize" the Traveler's copying other ability while their human form remains. You see Yoimiya using bow when you play but in reality it's the Traveler who using Yoimiya's powers.

i actually think there's more of a missed connection between paimon and the seelie, to be honest. her little quirks of being the traveler's personal guide, her teaching them how to read and speak the local language(s), and her obsession with tracking down treasure fit the bill pretty dead on, if we pay attention to the way they function in-game. there's also those two treasure-hunting seelie events from 1.2 and 2.0, as well as the tooltip that states that the ancient race of seelie were once powerful, and would guide humanity, presumably to riches, glory, and/or knowledge (since we also do find a fair number of talent books inside of treasure chests).
if you also look at her silhouette from a distance, she does bear an uncanny resemblance to the anemo seelie. the tufts of hair on the side of her head, her cape, and her diminutive blob-shaped figure match up with the features of the seelie in my eyes. and knowing mhy with their meticulous character design, that's probably not an accident.
that said, paimon could be a lost god like havra, a god of the seelie race that still remained after the end of the archon war 2000 years ago, but somehow wound up either sealed or lost in a deep slumber in a body of water before being fished up by the traveler. as for how she knows about the archon war and how teyvat used to be, it's very likely that however she wound up in the water, it happened before the cataclysm 500 years before the start of our story in Genshin, which would explain why she didn't know about ei, the archons outside of venti and zhongli, or khaenri'ah.
i dunno, these are just my midnight musings, please do take them as you will

I'm of the assumption that Paimon is potentially 1 of 3 things:
*A.)* The Unknown God, who may or may not be one of the Three Moon Sisters. Not much to go on with this one aside from Paimon's physical appearance implying at least some level of connection to Celestia. Also, the Blessing of the Welkin Moon icon, which I take to be a representation of one of the Moon Sisters, looks a lot like Paimon.
*B.)* The God of Time mentioned in the sundial carvings, albeit in a potentially depowered form. This mainly due to Paimon seemingly possessing some degree of control over time via the Paimon menu, which pauses the game and can also be used to adjust the current time.
*C.)* The last living Seelie, assuming the rest are just spirits. The Seelie once held immense wisdom and used it to guide humanity. Paimon has immense knowledge of the world, likely much more than she typically lets on, and uses it to guide the Traveler.

Genshin definitely seems to be following the From Software school of inserting important lore into items, gameplay mechanics, and environment. I don't think any of the ideas you've touched upon are coincidences. Also huge parallels with the base mythology found in ASOIAF wrt to 'Lucifer means Lightbringer' and Dainsleif's eventual fate. I think the Traveler's purification is still the most mysterious thing to me out of everything I've seen in game. It almost seems like their power is the polar opposite of what the 'Honkai' energy is in the Mihoyo universe. Maybe when Paimon is at a point of no return and fading away, we'll be able to revive her using the same ability.
'Placing the stars' in order to arrange nature and fate in a certain way is also prominent in both Vedic and Greek mythology, and one interesting reference is Astraeus, who is associated with birthing both 'stars' and 'winds' including the dawn-bringer(lightbringer) Phosphorus as well as its twin, the evening star Hesperus. He also birthed Phainon (Saturn) and since there are quite a few in-game tidbits connecting clocks, time, and seasons to Paimon, I think she could be the starkeeper God in charge of time (ie. when is a star in effect, when does it die etc.)
Thanks for all your work, I think you should be the official "Lorekeeper" of the community!

Here’s one of my theories if you’d like to hear! Paimon was a god on celestia, (maybe the god of stars, of guides or maybe even food LOL) for a particular reason until perhaps she broke a divine rule or betrayed the Unknown God. So, her memories of her past were stolen and she was cast down from celestia, where she fell from the sky left to drown. That is… until we fished her out of the ocean. When we reach celestia again, she may regain her full power and form and even become playable..?? After the Unknown God is defeated, there will be no ruler on celestia, so to reforge and bring balance to Teyvat, Paimon takes the helm and becomes the new ruler of Celestia, bidding us farewell on our travel with our sibling as we leave the world.

Here's mine hehe.. paimon is a god of stars and time when we change the time she uses the stars and time to change it . When we wish she gathers energy to regain their memories , once it enough she can unlock their entire memories. Thus the friendship level more you keep using them , the more memories she can unlock. Artifacts are literally a memories of a person, we are using those memories to strengthen ours.... Like imagine constellation is a fate yes fate, when the star falls the fate crumbles . This way you can change your fate and thus the heavenly principals, A heavenly Principle to stop the humans from changing their fate. And the 3 gods to make sure every thing goes smoothly. Soo we know that celestia is a prison like, so when the humans change their fate they are brought to celestia to teach them a lesson . But when the one of the 3 gods fell and a star escaped wait waittt what IF IFFF traveler is like a memory! Memory of a human, fate of a human???!! How did you like it?

I'm very sure that the Paimon part is in the right direction, and the only reason I don't say spot-on is simply because of the unknowns. I always found the name "Paimon's bargains" really weirdly specific, she definitely has something to do with stars and wishes. I'm also very convinced that the twins are indeed stars in some capacity. Like maybe all stars possess some sort of memory and spirit, and the twins are particular stars that are able to project mortal forms to wander the universe or some sort of that kind of lore.
Shapeshifting travelers part, I'm not a big fan of it but not because I find it whacky and implausible, but rather simply because it would be kinda awkward and creepy for the characters that get copied. Like imagine you met this blonde fellah and one day you see them fighting far away and suddenly they transform into you, using the exact same powers you have instead of the ones you saw them use before. XD But I do have something that backs up the theory: Paimon finds the traveler's ability to summon and unsummon their weapon curious, which would imply they're the only person she knows has that power, but when you're using the characters all of them are able to make their weapons disappear just like the traveler. So maybe the playable characters in our party really are extensions of the traveler.

Yes! I was waiting for someone to make this video! The story always implied that the MC is clearly not human, and it is also clearly shown that none of the people in our party were actually travelling with us (unless it's during a quest), and Paimon + Wishes are pretty sus (unless you just accept it as part of a gatcha mechanic), but this is the first video I've found that put all the elements together in a reasonable way... for a conspiracy video at least. :) Zhongli did say that we can keep their memories - and in a way, as part of our team, the memories of each character will be kept forever, even if they are later "killed" in the plot. Although I do not hope it on any of the characters, I am quite curious to see what would happen once they are killed in the storyline. We will probably still have them in our teams, but will they be aware of their death? Will we have new voice lines and character stories?
BTW, the theory that we have never been out of Teyvat and only saw the rise of fall of civilizations make me shiver. That implies a huge number of very different civilizations, all disappearing one after the other, perhaps due to Celestia...
Once you have enough information, can you make a theory on ascension (in general and concerning the MC)?

When you mentioned the thing about there being 3 star keepers (one creates, one arranges and one archive -essentially ending age of a star) my mind automatically went to the Three Fates in Greek Mythology. The Three Fates were named Lachesis, Clotho and Atropos. They were the people who would create and determine one’s fate. Clotho (the spinner) spins the thread of life, Lachesis (the alloter) measures how long the thread of life is going to be and what happened in it and Atropos (the inflexible) which determines the ending the thread of life/fate by essentially just cutting the thread.
It could be like that :)

The idea of the twins being a twin form of Lucifer makes so much sense. I was thinking that Celestia is essentially heaven, and people want to ascend there to become gods. But there’s been basic hints about Celestia being evil (Venti’s version of the dungeon image). The abyss is kind of like hell?? If you think about it, Celestia (heaven) punished Khanria (rip spelling) which could be a form of the garden of eden??) for being too advanced, making them “fall” like having Lucifer “fall” from heaven for asking too many questions. The fact that demons are fallen angels from heaven, and the people of Khanria got transformed into monsters (abyss mages etc), adds to the theory. Lumine (or the other twin) is essentially ruling hell, aka the Abyss. The journey through Teyvat can therefore be the traveler learning that Celestia is evil, or at least not good, and making the choice whether to support them and the gods, or not.

I think you can still follow Ashikai's theory on that. The characters are simply memories formed by stardust. Thing is, NPCs die like normal people. They even get buried. Chances are, most of the characters, well, the actual ones and not the traveler shapeshifting, are also very capable of dying the same way. Additionally, we can see NPCs being directly blood-related to the other characters. It could mean that, they too, are like the NPCs - and that they can die. Physically.
The exception is probably the main character. You could make a case for the hilichurls and treasure-hoarders dying and turning into dust, but they drop items after dying, meaning, they are probably very real. The only time they ever not drop anything is when you're in a domain.
Maybe, just maybe, we can also make a case for the spawned creatures in the domain. They're probably memories or stardust too, somehow manifesting inside this place, much like the traveler.

I’m definitely with you that that there is some kind of link between the Travellers , Paimon, and the stars, but I’m not sold yet on it being quite as literal as you theorise. Not sure exactly what it is yet but there is definitely something!
There are references all over the game to how the traveller is associated with the stars. I think that Kazuha has some interesting dialogue on it actually but I can’t remember exactly what he says. Even looking at Paimons character design the pattern on her cape looks a lot like a starry sky to me.

With that in mind, I have seen _way_ too many interpretations of angels as literal stars (either just constellations, or _literally birthing a new sun)_ for me to not notice the twins being portrayed themselves as shooting stars. I've also seen the interpretation of the different characters just being the traveller channeling their powers and memories.
Probably the most damning evidence for Paimon doing pretty much everything would be the pause menu. Not anything _in_ the menu, just _the menu itself._ It's not actually called the "pause menu" at all. It's literally named the "Paimon menu."

I just couldn't believe that such busy people such as Jean, Ganyu, Kokomi, and *basically everyone else with their own lives* are able to join the traveler in adventures for DAYS without even doing anything meaningful, and I have always found it weird how you could only control 1 person at a time. And ALSO, every time you fight while being witnessed by other NPCs or characters, and you use your obtained characters, they credit YOU, the traveler, regardless (e.g. Signora fight, Childe fight, fight with shogunate in the archon quest, etc.) which also made me think maybe he's not really shapeshifting per se, him switching to the characters are just a visual representation for US, the player, not what REALLY happens in the game.
Your theory about how the traveler "unlocks more of the characters' potential as they gain more constellations" totally makes sense, since there are some character abilities that we have not been able to use, even after unlocking them as a playable character (Diluc's pyro interrogation thing, for example).
But now you got me thinking. IF the characters you play as really is just the traveler in another form, then how is the traveler able to use their elemental abilities? We haven't touched a Statue of the Seven in Natlan, but we can use pyro characters just fine. Does that mean that the traveler actually has the ability to control ALL elements already? Note how every NPC so far is astonished by the traveler's ability to use the ELEMENTS without a vision, not just one specific element (...I think...? Can someone back me up on this please). Even the Raiden Shogun uses "elemental energy" instead of electro in particular in her first encounter with the traveler. AND in the Childe fight we see the traveler using both his/her anemo and geo abilities. MAYBE the reason we don't have access to those elements with the base traveler is because he/she and Paimon hasn't come up with their OWN way to use the elements (AND coincidentally the traveler's abilities are always quite with the current archon's abilities, and the way that you obtain elemental abilities of a particular region is from resonating with that region's Statue of the Seven... hmm...)
Anyways, really good video!! I totally loved all the ideas. You never disappoint! Keep up the good work!!

Wow that actually makes a lot of sense considering many things in genshin, like constellations and weekly domains have the term "Memories" attached to them, and also how we can indefinitely keep a companion in the serenitea pot without interfering with their use in the party, but only the ones we have as we don't have the "memories" of the ones we don't have

So ever since Genshin started I have been very intrested in this game's lore. The world and the ancient stractures around the world always seemed fascinating to me. The details aswell that are given to us through artifacts, books, mats, items and even weapons and characters is just so intriging. Also as a dude that doesn't even have enough money to upgrade from his 7 year old computer, being able to expirience a triple AAA gaming expirience, just through my phone is an amazing feeling. Anyway to get in the meat and the potatoes of my analysis/ theories, I would like to start with how this world might actually be sturctured, since it has been the number 1 thing that the community has been speculating on from the very first event. (Also I am going to be using some of your material aswell Ashikai from your previous videos in order to build my speculation, I hope that you might like what I've come up with if you ever actually read this).
My first question to you guys is "do you believe in flat earth?" 'cause most likely this is what teyvat is, my idea is that it is most likely a snowglobe like structure that this world resides inside almost like a world ship if you heard of them. They are Structures that are able to house inside huge expasions that in size can rival a planet. This theory though is something that most people might already be preety familiar with, since it has been quite popular in many theorist circles. I would like though to suggest a bit extra to it.(Disclaimer I do not know if someone has already thought of this. If this is already a popular theory and I just don't know, then I am just a dumb dumb)
So if Teyvat is a globe like structure with teyvat just suspended in the middle and what we see is the top part of the snowglobe, that being the Teyvat that we are slowly exploring from update to update, then what about the bottom part of the snowglobe? Shouldn't there also exist something down there, is it just crust and nothing else. Not necessarily. What if the bottom part of the snowglobe is a reverse world? This popped into my mind mostly 'cause of Ashikai's video about domains and the stone tablets inside that are supposed to act as Genshin's version of the emerald tablet which is supposed to represent the world. The most popular phrase from the tablet is "as above, so below" wouldn't it then be more logical that there is a whole reverse world just below Teyvat, what if that reverse world was called Khaenri'ah or at the very least Khaenri'ah acted as that sides capital. Just think about it were is the best place to avoid the gods gaze and be able to thrive with out there being danger from them, were else than on the literal reverse side of Teyvat. The theory doesn't stop there though, since the gods of Celestia are called as all knowning and powerfull. I don't think they would be stupid enough to let such a place abandoned, wouldn't it be reasonable to set up forces there to guard that reverse side of the world, like how they set up 7 archons on Teyvat.
In Ashikai's video about domains she also also talks about the Archons and she expertly points out that in Gnosticism there are canonically 7 archons, but they were also 5 rebelious archons. Archons that defied the laws set up by god. So what if these 5 archons were originally stationed there by celestia, but slowly by being exposed to the reverse side of Teyvat a side that has as it sky the abyss itself they learned about the true nature of the world and it drove them to rebel against Celestia and maybe even relenquising there titles as gods. Also remember that, since we talk about this theoretical reverse side of Teyvat the sky there is most likely looking at the very abyss itself so our idea of desending to the abyss from that places perspective is reversed and we are ascending to the Abyss. The idea of ascending into the abyss is also supported by the fact that when we enter the abyss challenge in game we are ascending stairs not descending them.
Also if you look up into the sky especially on floor 9 and above you see something intresting. You see the abyss it's self and the moon. The moon is a very intresting object to exist there, which means 2 things most likely either this is were the moon goes during Teyvat's day time which supports the idea even further that Teyvat has a reverse side, essentially a whole different you could say Teyvat that we could possibly one day come to explore. Alternatively which is even more intresting, that also doesn't debunk the reverse world theory, that this is the second moon that we've been searching for this whole time. Think about it supposedly there were 3 moons one of them was destroyed, so what happened to the other one? What if the three moon goddesses fought with each other? More specifically 2 of the 3 fought and the third was trying to stop them and died in the process of trying so. If that is the case then it wouldn't be a strech to assume maybe that one of the 2 that started the fight wanted too retreat away to somewhere, where she could be left alone to recuperate. That somewhere might very well be the abyss meaning that the moon we see in the abyss is the second moon and who knows Celestia might very well be the remnants of the 3rd moon, appropriated by the gods to make Celestia the home of the gods it would be somewhat fitting to do so aswell. The gods in Celestia seems a bit capricious to me would it be a strech to assume that once the lets say old triarchy fell that they would use that opportunity to appropriate power and status for them selfs while also starting considering there faction as the legitimate next rulers by using the symbols and status of the previous gods to establish there rule and legitimize there dominance.
Isn't it weird how Teyvat seems to have had like very much so gone through some religious changes. I say this because the people seem to very much so know about the 3 goddesses and they seem to have been reviered to as much of an extent as the gods of Celestia and the archons in the past. It seems though that there is this feeling of the 3 godesses being something of the past, something that everyone used to considered something to be revered, but now in there place they worship the gods in Celestia and the archons. Now I want to adress the welkin moon. I believe the welkin moon is the representation of the dead moon goddess, almost like a way to pay respect to the fallen goddess, also the name welkin means "something above the gods and the stars" this I think references the fact that now the dead goddess's soul is in plane that is even above the stars(maybe super heaven lol?). I think this is why we get primos from it, you know since primos look so very much so like stars in the night sky.
Returning back to the idea of the reverse side of Teyvat let's call it "Khaenri'ah" in quotes. With all this speculations it makes very much sence, if we assume that all the domains are made by the kingdom of Khaenri'ah, of why the domains are adorned with so many symbols about the moons. Khaenri'ah revered not the gods of Celestia but the goddesses, maybe they viewed the gods of Celestia as fake and so they rebelled by making a nation with out gods, with out Celestia's gods. The 5 archons that were originally placed to guard "Khaenri'ah" rebelled against Celestia 'cause they agreed with the kingdom's ideals and beliefs and that is why they are also represented in the domains as the 5 circles above the trees as Ashikai suggested in her video, because they are considered as allies not as enemies. Why represent your very enemies as golden crown-like halos above one of your cultures most reviered places the leyline trees if they weren't your allies?
Continuing on I believe the archon wars Celestia trying to find beings, yes beings not just gods, that had the most affinity with the prevelant 7 elemental energies that exist in Teyvat and they did it by giving to there 7 most promising canditates what we know now as archons the Gnosis. Most likely there existed many diferent powerfull beings that had the potential to handle the Gnosis, so I speculate that what Celestia did is a survival of the fitest experiment they gave there 7 most promising canditates the Gnosis and then said to all the beings in teyvat that could rival there 7 candidates that if you beat them you can have there power. So the wars begun with the 7 canditates made to prove there worth through not only defending there Gnosis, but also be made responsible to protect and nurture humans, for humans were most likely to be used as soldiers for war against Khaenri'ah, that is also why visions exist I think. Visions essentially could just be a bi-product of creating the Gnosis. Alternatively Visions could have already existed in a primitive form and Celestia got inspired by them to then create the Gnosis and maybe even there own version of Visions.
Returning to what we talked previously during the wars some of there original canditates actually fell, example Decarabian at the rebellion in old mondstat and this is how Venti came to be in possesion of the anemo gnosis. Also I theorize that they were able to create the Gnosis by doing experiments on gods or powerfull beings that could handle the elemental energies that were needed to create the Gnosis. I think that the Hypostasis are those beings that were experimented on in order to create the Gnosis, since hypostasis means (distiled and perfectly stable pure essence in greek). That is why the Hypostasis have names they are the names of the beings that were experimented on to create them. That is also why in one of the first events in genshin the hypostatic symphony we had hypostasis with different names they were other beings that were experimented upon aswell. So after many tries and experiments with hypostasis what they came up with were Gnosis, an object that could be considered the very reprasantation of an element it's self.

    • @-Pulsar-
      @-Pulsar- 2 роки тому +16

      2/2
That is also why Venti calls Visions primitive they most likely are simplified forms of the Gnosis. If mihoyo wanted to be a bit smart, then the gods saw how humans and Khaenri'ah were harnesing elemental powers through the use maybe of leynlines, layline branches or those primitive Visions before Visions you could say and they became afraid that they would be attacked. So they started to develop there own elemental you could say devices(Gnosis/Visions) to defend them selfs in chance of war. Then put the experimentations and the archon wars that we talked about previously it in this hypothetical timeline and there you have it. I think though that the most likely scenario is Celestia took over the rule from the 3 goddesses after they were out of the picture, started experimenting with hypostasis, made the gnosis, started the archon wars the people became angry retreated to the reverse side of teyvat that most likely was more known back then that it existed and in which people and civilizations might have already been there. The Archons war conclude with the 7 archons, Celestia then learns about how advanced Khaenri'ah is starting to become they send 5 extra archons, maybe with some different type of gnosis elements that we do not know of just yet, those 5 rebel and allign there selfs with Khaenri'ah. Which would make sense in how Khaenri'ah was able not to get exteriminated by Celestia immediatly, since not only were they in a hard to reach place meaning the reverse side of Teyvat, but they also had allied them selfs with 5 x-archons that could possibly have some form of gnosis of there own. So Khaenri'ah was preety much set up to succeed.
Until ofcourse one of there most powerfull alchemists Gold going bananas and trying to create literal monsters and which most likely made there defence systems the field tillers go out of control and there actions resulting in the destruction of Khaenri'ah. We also know that even if that happened like 500 years ago for Teyvat time runs differently in the abyss, in some places it runs faster in some it runs slower, so it even could make sence on how could Kaeya be the actuall prince of Khaenri'ah. For him the destraction could have happened a week a ago when he was found by Diluc's dad, for the rest of the world though it has been 500 years since then. It could also explain maybe why we don't see the second moon in Teyvat's night sky, 'cause it is stuck on the reverse side of Teyvat were time passes differently depending on were you are there. We know that times passes differently there 'cause Childe said that he stayed 3 months in there learing to survive from Skirk which Childe was her student. When he was finally able to get back he learned that only 3 days have passed from when he got lost.
Ofcourse if someone might feel that this still doesn't explain what is the abyss and what is Teyvat as a place in general well, these can not be answered right now. We don't have enough info yet. These two things are also the big mysteries in Genshin Impact "What is the abyss?", "What the heck is Teyvat?". Also other questions like "What/Who is paimon?"(Maybe she is the remnants of the third moon goddess that got destroyed could explain a lot about her actually), "Who is the sustainer of heavenly principal?", "What about the god of time?", "What about the leyline trees?", "Who were the Dragonspine people?", "What is Dains motive?", "What is the deal with the travelr's brother/sister?", "What is the deal in general with the siblings?", "Are the Leylines dying?" etc. I have some theories about them I won't answer them here though 'cause this post is big enough as it is.
Thank you for reading. Also thanks to Ashikai for inspiring me to start thinking about it more and come to my own little theories and conclusions. That could be false, correct or slightly correct. If I am incorrect for most of the things I said then good it means that Mihoyo/ the communities theorists have passed my expectations. Thanks again for reading my big ass comment.

7:12-might depend on how memory manifestations really work, but doesn’t Albedo’s story quest kinda contradict this? given that (aside from the weird residue) MC was essentially a normal human.
9:16- the first fight is an actual fight, subsequent ones are memories iirc
13:45- honestly sounds like what one of the moon goddesses would do tbh. (but that’d be awkward since the moon goddesses were in love with the morning star or something, and Paimon is…)
15:05-could be Paimon, minor detail iirc the CN uses the same character for keeper as they do for the sustainer
    Overall:
Twins being stars definitely has good points, but I do have a counterpoint for the companions=shapeshifting MC:
if this was the case, c6ing a character would mean MC has access to all their memories, no? and if so, we wouldn’t have characters like Zhongli or Venti withholding info from us
Paimon=starkeeper seems decent, but tbf so do many Paimon theories so it’s hard to say

This makes me think of Runeterra from LOL. In modern lore, the characters are "copies" of existing runeterra characters. Abilities, memories, etc. This would also mean that when a character adquires a vision in Teyvat, inmediately a constellation is created that copies their information. So, are the gods using this info to ascend themselves even more in an endless cycle?

Veeery nice. I had been considering if maybe Dains was the 'Keeper' who was fading, since he mentioned his fading memories.
Imo, most of the mechanics Paimon is responsible for, pausing time, storage, conjuring items are all things she is canonically doing in lore. But appears dependent on the traveller being alive and healthy to do those things. And where we are seems to matter, she doesn't follow us into domains, and.. we don't have access to anything from the start menu without her. Just what we had equipped when we entered. (pressing start offers you the option of failing and leaving the domain.. returned to paimon?)
(I did have kind of wonder if she was responsible for the four translucent cubes sculpture at the exit of a domain in order to return 4 co-op travellers to their individual realms or box up the companions stars) If we fled the domain through start... nothing would have been gained. But the new artifacts/memories we take out with us. is she somehow part of that?
She panic's when the traveler is in danger and appears genuinely worried and trying to help/save the traveller in cutscenes. But she also seems to assume control and keep us from exploring out of bounds, or the forced march Traveler out of Raiden's Palace in a very moribund and worried manner. She appears and feels like an ally, and a friend. But she also has an agenda and power over us. Very much seems to treat traveler as a companion servant she is very fond of all while she very much directs, points at what to investigate and tells us when to use abilities. childishly bargaining for food and services is definitely a part of her charm.
People joke Paimon is a fish. If I had to make my best guess. I think shes more like an anchor.

So that could lend some credence to the whole "physical manifestation of a star trying to Recover It's Memory" thing
since, apparently, the traveller has travelled through Teyvat (with Venti) at some point before the game, but has lost all memory of it ever happening

For something that can be easily brushed off as a conspiracy theory, this is pretty solid.

I've had the thought that the traveler is shapeshifting as well but, it's nice to finally hear it put together into a coherent form.

I seriously love theories on the Traveler and Paimon, sometimes people focus too much on other characters that they forgot the MC. I was hoping to get a more in-deep theory on the stars and memories bc you already had it floating around in your streams and I loved it!, and I believe it fully now, no one can tell me otherwise

You had me thinking. If we are taking form of the characters that we unlock instead of controlling the characters, does that mean that the actual characters are aware that we copy their bodies and abilities and even gave us permission to do so? Cuz there are times in the overworld plus the Serenitea Pot (when we could invite the characters to stay with us) where there would be two Zhongli's or two Ganyu's or two Yoimiya's. I wonder if they find us creepy for being able to shiftshape into them.

they probably see the traveler at all times, the "character" we see is the representation of who's memories and powers Traveler is using at the moment.

I actually believe you in this theory it makes sense and actually ties everything together and it has been referenced in the lore as well

The traveler shapeshifting would explain why in quests or events when certain characters are physically present, you can still play as them

11:33 iirc there's also a line from the traveler referencing how weapons literally just appear from/disappear into thin air, just like what it looks like in game

It also makes sense why the Keeper of Principles did not destroy them, likely they are a Antivirus/Defrag tool the maker created, and I like the idea of paimon being tossed in the lake by the Keeper for goofing around instead of doing her job.
It also raises the question of wheter void/darkness/abyss and light elements are truly elements outside of Teyvat or not.

Yo I loved this theory I’ve never thought about any of it like that giving it all to gameplay elements but that would be a great twist, also you earned a sub so feel good and stuff

Random thought i had after the recent event finally... God generally have different domains than their associated element. And we have an unknown "element" coming somewhere down the line with Dain. What if Paimon is the representative of the "Stars" Element as the god of Time? Story wise, the existence of a 7th Dendro element was always weird to me, since it had no real... thematic counterpart. And yes i know, metal and wood where elements in alchemy. But what if... Dendro stands for the planet? and is the counterpart of a celestial element "Stars"? It could very much be an abyss element for all we know.
And yes i have no bases for any of this than weird shower thoughts while listening to theories for hours.
But if those assumptions would be correct the Story might actually be about a fallen god Paimon, teaming up with basically their Dwalin/Azdaha, the traveler, to reclaim their powers?
This would coincide with the Travelers "Vision" symbol being a star shape. Since they are part of the Star Archons (?) affiliates....
I don't even know what to make of this anymore... i think there is a connection here, but i just barely cant grasp it. If i follow the train of thought it would make Paimon the... Archon of khaenri'ah? but we know they didn't have one... unless maybe the collective memory of everyone can also be subject to corrosion... which we have no clue whatsoever...
Args my head starts hurting xD
Anyway happy to discuss with anyone interested

If this is true that our MC actually shape shifts into others then what about befriending them? In game we gain friendship exp when we use other characters in the domains and random events. Anyways a great theory indeed

What if friendship levels occur because the traveler is becoming more knowledgeable of that person memories when he transforms into them.

I've been watching theory vids about genshin's lore the past few days and this is by far the most interesting one that I've watched. Really great work!!! I'm going to claim this as the truth for me now because of how well you structured everything in your theory 😌😌😭😭😩😩💖💖
