This conversation is pointless. Because the game changed dramatically over the 13yrs between 04 and 17. It's much less physical. Conversely put the 17 Warriors in the 2004 season where it's extremely physical, Warriors do nothing.

I grew up in the 2000s so i remember the 04' Pistons vividly but they cant compete against the 2017 Warriors in a 7,game series.
They ain’t competing against them in a 3 game series. Way too many weapons on that 17 team. Even if you remove the big 3 (Steph, KD, Klay). You had Iggy, DWest, Livingston, McGee, Dray, etc… Livingston was automatic in the midrange. That Pistons team doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up.

No defense? The Warriors were 2nd in defensive rating. They were the best offensive team and 2nd best defensive team in the league. And they would cook that Pistons defense. They would expose Ben Wallace. Force him to come out of the paint and guard the perimeter, make him switch on pick n rolls and deal with Steph. And then put him on the line and let his 41% FT go to work 🙄. Warriors were so versatile offensively and how are the Pistons going to outscore them, seriously?
There you go hanging on to all that offense lol. The Pistons defense back then is probably better than the whole league right now. And they probably didn't have the best defense in the league back then. So what does that tell you. Nobody in this era team wise plays that type of defense that those players play back then, team wise. Offense wise a lot of those players did the average 20s and 30s. And I truly think that that would have got them over the hump. Who they gone guard.
@derrickparkmond6164 Pistons defense was 2nd in regular season, but 1st in playoffs. Offensively they were middle of the pack in the playoffs. Warriors were 2nd in defense, 1st in offense. Also you don't take into consideration the way the refs called the game then vs now and the difference in pace. Offenses back then were slow and inefficient, taking too many iso midrange shots and had no spacing and not enough ball movement. And that's not cause the defense was better, it's just the offensive schemes they ran were inefficient. The league was still adapting to the new defensive rules and the Pistons were the best at taking advantage of it. They were great, but their style was very specifically catered to an era where teams still played offense as if illegal defense would still be called. But let offenses evolve for 13 years, how will they handle it? Warriors had 4 HOF starters in their prime, another HOF guy at 6th man. They were long and active on defense, and on offense they had even more screening and motion than the Pistons, paired with 3 of the best shooters ever and spacing that the Pistons had never dealt with. They were simply more efficient, better shooting %, better FT%, better assist/turnover ratio. They made 3 times as many 3s per game as Detroit and at a better percentage. We're talking about a team that averaged 119ppg in the playoffs and was also the 2nd best defensive team. They outscored opponents by 13ppg, nearly double what Detroit did. It's just a bad matchup for Detroit, they aren't going to hold the Warriors to 90ppg and they also aren't going to score more than 100ppg with that style. 16-1 record in the playoffs too, it just ain't happening

The 73-9, 2016 Warriors lost to the Cavs! They had to add KD in 2017. Good bet is KD doesn't make it through a series against that Pistons team without getting injured. The Warriors were great shooters, Pistons great defenders. Warriors would have to be on point every game. Series could definitely go either way. Not saying either team is guaranteed to win.
