Thanks for the review! This was exactly what I was looking for as I have been on the fence about upgrading the battery for a while. I’m definitely going to upgrade now!
Wow man. I rarely comment on videos, but I'm so impressed by the quality of this video! Just wanted to encourage you to keep up the great work. Subscribers and views will come, if you keep at it.
Great video Michael! I was surprised by your original battery test, as I recently just got 13 miles on my Pint during and hour and a half ride this week. BUT I was not expecting that big of an impact on your range with the upgrade! Though I’m not sure I have the guts to do this with my pint…yet.
"Safest" is a tricky line to tow. It's important to understand the difference between safety and danger when it comes to lithium ion batteries. When they say "safest", what it really means is 'least dangerous battery modification". Anything other than that would be false. The safest battery for the Onewheel is the stock battery, for reasons of better build design with regard to failure mitigation. Despite the improvements, there are build issue with those mods that go unaddressed, I imagine because they don't make for good marketing posts. Very cool video, brilliantly shot and produced.
Thanks Mario! I appreciate the info, as I am not by any means an expert on batteries. Is there anything in particular I should look out for while using this battery in the future?
@@MichaelSwanOfficial Not particularly. The Quart style mod is relatively innocuous, and since there are still only 15 cells, the chances of failure are lower than they are for something like a CB/JWXR. If the install went well, and it runs fine, it's then just a matter of maintenance through allowing the battery to balance after charging up. The way they're constructed makes me skeptical that each cell would age at exactly the same rate long term, so I'd watch cell balance mostly. Apart from that you're fine. Cheers!
I was like “this man knows what he is talking about!!” Then I saw your name. Mario contino. Thanks for the floatwheel vesc tutorial. It made my job easy.
We should ride sometime! I spent the first half of the video telling my wife, “This looks like Chattanooga”. When you hit the Riverwalk I was convinced ha ha. Great video!
6.8 miles on stock?? Yeah must be pretty hilly there. I average 10-12 on the stock battery with 300-400 elevation change (180 lbs, warm weather > 90 degrees). Based on your results, hopefully 20-25+ miles is doable. Awesome video, thank you for doing this!
I'm 6'6" and 210lbs and I get about 6.5 to 8 miles on my Pint. Ordered the GT, but thinking about Quarting my Pint to get more range for a buddy to use if they wanna come along

Great review. Thinking about one for my pint with W’s while they’re $50 off on sale. I love my pint, it’s re wheeled so I can go 18-19 no problem, 20-22 if I push it. But I feel like with the quart it would handle it much better. Think I might get one :)

Wow, great video! It made me debate between buying an used Pint and replacing the battery (total cost around U$1,300) or wait a couple more months to save for a Pint X (around U$1,900). I’d basically use for my 13mile daily commute and obviously to have fun (I live in a pretty hilly area). What would you do? How is the battery holding on now, months later?
Yeah I honestly love that my pint gives me pushback at 13-14mph, I want to have fun, not get super hurt…. If I had the option to go faster I definitely would and the difference between running out a fall at 13 mph vs 17+mph is huge. Carving and going slow enough that I can just jump off and run it out is what I like, I love the push back on the original pint
How does it compare to the floatwheel battery? They’re both 220w, but the quart is a 15s. The only way to make onewheels faster is to overvolt the motor. I don’t think their ESC will handle more than 60v, but for the speed we all want they should be running at 72v with a discharge of at least 40A and a burst of at least 60A. There is no battery in the world that fits this spec. (There is… x4 xmaxx batteries, but RC batteries have no BMS, and you’d be linking 16 cells together with no controller. That’s asking for a fire)
the original battery range of 6.7 miles is about right. That is what I am currently getting with 6.6miles with 20% left. although I can feel that is sagging under 50%. The questions now is, how long will the Quart battery last until it s start degrading to 8 mile max range. . . .so I guess at 50% life cycle, it will get you to 8 miles. . so it is like buying two original onewheel batteries. . .
I put a treaded tyre on my pint and lost range so now I'm looking to upgrade the battery. However, getting the quart battery shipped to the UK isn't going be cheap. I wish we had more Uk retailers.
First of all, thank you. I personally love my pint with the chi battery upgrade. I can very easily keep up on group rides with XR riders. With that said I will probably upgrade some day but I’m kind of holding out until they come out with a whole new board. Until then I’m definitely happy with the pint.
With the Quart battery - when you run low on juice does it still trigger the push back or does it just go dead? My fear is that if it is after market that once the battery hits 0% it just turns off and I fly off.
Ow did you get the battery percentage bar to work, mine doesnt, its just stuck at 100 percent all the time even though its clearly not according to the voltage
@deemontes7265 So I got GT40, it's a Top Fender Battery..... I used Fast Charger Because the Home Charger won't Charge the GT40..... It just stays to same Battery Percentage % . (When you Plug it in to 50% Battery Life) It's stay 50% for 2 hours

I wonder if I messed up my battery prematurely by leaving it in the winter cold in my car over night many time, rip
So: would everyone recommend this/a new pint, or would you suggest the pint x? Seems like if you buy this+a pint you can save a lot of money instead of getting pint x, which sucks because I just got mine a month ago 😂😂 but I see in the description there’s some software issues you wouldn’t recommend using it with newer pints, is anyone able to elaborate on this?
Michael - few months since this video, any additional thoughts? Are you averaging around 15-16mi still or gotten 20 with it yet? Wondering if you’re noticing battery degeneration already…
Wow! I'd rather just buy a pint and install that battery than get a pint x! Too late though. I got the x. Does anyone make a good battery for the pint x?
How does charging work with the Quart? Pint charger and ultra charger still work? How much longer does it take. This seems like a nobrainer once my wallet stops hating me for buying the pint.
They still work no problem. You just have to wait until the light on the charger turns from red to green. Also it takes almost twice as long since the battery is twice as big.
I’ve gotten 10.6 miles on a charge in a hilly environment always going full speed and my top speed on the app even says 21 mph. I don’t remember how I did it however there’s a technique that I guess I did without knowing but it’s really dangerous can’t recommend lol
