Hi Bob, CL is really a simple swing .. it's just a bunch of different geometry applications for the body and ball placement ..once you get the process locked in its so easy to replicate every day .. cheers JH

Thanks JH for being so responsive to my request for a chipping/pitching update. I found your comments very helpful. Would you please comment on the clubs you use for 30-40 yd pitching and chipping and varied lies. Do you ever use a 64degree wedge - if so what for? Thanks John Saynor
Hi John, I have never owned a lob wedge/64 deg club.. that's not exactly true .. I did 'trial' one of those infomercial 65 deg wedges.. and it was ok for very specific type shots .. I only use a std 54/56 degree sand iron as my most lofted club .. I just think the high lofted lob wedges are to hard to hit consistently .. and unless you have to go over something and stop the ball super quick I don't want to hit the ball in to the flag very high .. as do most good players .. I can it a ball vertically with a std 54/56 deg sand iron .. I just open the face up and up release the club very aggressively past my hands .. most players from my era learned those shots because we didn't have specialist high lofted clubs .. I hit most of my pitch shots of up to 40 yards with a pitching wedge ... I do that because it has less bounce and I can grab the ball cleaner with more spin .. I play low-risk shots all the time .. I don't try to hit the ball up high and stop it on straightforward shots .. the tighter the lie the lees bounce I want on the club .. I will even drop back to a 9 iron if the lie is very tight on a 40 yard shot .. The club player has trouble with relatively easy straight forward shots because they overcomplicate the shot and try to hit high expertise execution shots .. I just bunt the ball onto the green.. no cute shots .. The baseline is to just take the club that requires the least amount of shot execution quality... just get the ball on the green every time .. I might do a video on that aspect of using clubs that afford the best chance of success with those pitching type shots .. cheers JH

I hope to fix the problem tomorrow.. if I do I will answer your queries .. To answer your question generally.. I do grip down on short pitch shots .. I like to get as close to the ball as I can with accuracy shots.... the closer I can get my trail arm to my body with the short pitches stops any trail shoulder rollout which creates a drag/pull shot ... cheers JH
