WP 7161 is a Chittranjan Locomotive Works built engine, inducted into active service in 1965, this locomotive was homed at Saharanpur shed and gave distinguished service to IR before being phased out from active service. This Locomotive is christened "AKBAR", after the great Mughal Emperor.
Both these Locomotives are a priced possession of Rewari Steam Loco shed, with great historic significance and deserve their rightful place in the rich heritage of Indian Railways. Let's celebrate the return of these two glorious Steam Engines and see these magnificent machines in steam once again.

So this loco was built in 1965. A steamer younger than me:-))) I remember steam locos when I was a very young boy in the UK. i remember the coal smell.
You don't know how lucky you are.
Every time we travelled to my grandmas place by a steam engine the first thing she would ask us was to get a proper bath!
So interesting to see the similarities, as well as the differences, in steam locomotives in India and the United States. Thumbs up!
airailimages : they are similar as they were designed and built by Baldwin USA first then in INDIA
@@victoriousrufus6747 They are Pacific class 4-6-2, some were made in 3/4 scale. But the designs were Canadian (Canadian Locomotive Works) and American (Baldwin Locomotive Works). In fact bullet nosed broad guage steam locos were known as Canadian engines back in the day when they worked the main lines in India.
That's Whistle sounds of Steam engine is so Sweet. Once again child hood memories come on mind.
Congratulations to all Indian Railways members. By every one contribution we have reached one of the best Railways today.
The audio alone, eyes closed, takes me back. Take me back.
There is a certain peace, that could only be found while riding on a train in India, in the '60's, when steam was still King !
Steam is still the king. The pioneer never loses its importance. Please, tell me more about that era :)
Some songs, like 'Chalte chalte, yunhi koi mil gaya tha' from the film Pakeezah actually uses the whistle of the YP in the interludes to set the mood.
THE SOUND OF THE STEAM ENGINE IS SO NICE. BRINGS YOUNG DAYS MEMORIES
Pride of India. Old is Gold.
Woah that's a nice Loco. Greetings from the USA, BTW I'm Indian.

Loved the video greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 I would love to see a steam train like this in Canada.
How did you like the sound and the movement of the connecting rods ? Weren't they satisfying ? XD
That was one Canadian Engine only that used to run during my childhood days!!
loved the train that goes from toronto to vancuover in canada :)
N&W 611 made in India later
This model engine was called Canada engine
Wow.. steam loco, an AC Coach and a WDS-4; all in a single clip! 😍

Steam trains seem almost alive with more personality than diesel or electrics. I love em
Steam engines are the kings of railway history
Steam engines are the real beauty of the Indian Railways, it was removed from service due to heavy pilferage of coal.
Fantastic. May thanks for sharing.

Thank you Sameer. The rhythm of a steam engine is eloquent.
Really understood da Theory of James Watt.. nva mess vth steam..!!
What a capture! Wish I could ride or capture a Steam engine now :(
I travelled in the Steam Express in November 2013 from Delhi Cantt to Alwar and back the next day. Visit to Sariska Tiger Reserve was also there in the itinerary. Overall a great experience.
In 1970 I took the steam train from Madras to Delhi, a trip of 3 days and 4 nights.
Oh my god. Must have been a heck of a journey.
Yes it was. We stopped all the time to fill water and coal for the steam engine and thats when the tea boys came along with chai and snacks.
All along the journey, there were boys hanging on to the window railings outside the trains selling snacks.
Hahahaha I get the visuals. That was the time when everybody used to live lovely n freely. :)
Normal price from Madras to Delhi was 50 rupees on airconditioned third class. Just enough seats for everybody and food was served. We paid for the food and orders were taken a few stations before.
I had a false student card and I got 50% off which made the trip only 25 rupees.
he Indian cities those day looked like a huge village but strangely there was a system in the chaos.
Hahaha must be good ol times for you.
The real Beauty of the train is COOOOOOOOO. Love it.
Gopathy Gajendra Babu
The sound gets you too, doesn't it ? XD
Railway authorities can bring these engines back, and play short distances like Bangalore - Mysore sector, there will lot of takers !!
Encourage Railway tourism at least bring back olden staem engine beauty's to the short. Distance during festival holiday time
Excellent!!Simply speechless!!

DIESEL LOCO SHED raju
Awesome!
WOW, I thought that engine was scraped! Thank goodness it wasn't. :)
awesome 👍
Superb job sir
Fantastic dude
Such a beautiful looking engine and has less emissions than the current ALCOs lol
Longs81 will love to rajaram.buy@gmail.com UFO and the president
Pollution depends on the state of fire box... If the train is pulling hard and the conductor is filling fire box with coal ... The smoke will be much darker and contain lots of soot.
Alcos are better then emds
I want to see this loco and travel this train. Very nice. My childhood memories.
Really steam locomotives sound and moving is a special. Particularly those driver and firemen working so vary talent and hard work men ship. Those parson are all healthy. Till now some old senior citizen. Even some rail way officers also vary like. When I joined in the railway I worked only one year at Mysore. That also vary nice place. After I went Diesel loco motive. The smell of char coal is vary fine. Just like toady agar bathi. So great of steam loco motives.
The last WP ie P stands for passenger was transferred to N.Rly in the year 1988.It went as a light engine. There was a Round house of Steel Horses at Bitragunda of SCRly. We salute the Angilo Indian Drivers. They cared the engine as their mother. The brass metal parts were shining like gold. Understand the heat waves and too chill cold filled with mist which blocked the vision. On a personal talk they said around 750 passengers life is most important. WG engine meansGoods hauling. In royapuram division Arakkonam was having a big loco shed. Remember the watering coal down loading.
superb..:)
haha...I live nearby and feel lucky to see these beauties often here....many luxury trains also come here...
super catch Sameer
great ..all lucky people who witnessed this phenomenon..

WP 7161 is simply MAJESTIC
...missing the heritage ride - a lifetime loss
This all are golden era. Because my father was a steam engine worker. More than thirty years experience. Actual front lock is vary excellent. The driving is quite different. Mostly one driver, two assistant fireman. Need this loco motive. The col smiling is till date vary good. Their dress hard work of three members is vary difficult and excellent. I also travel the small distance. May be run the locomotive 60.K.M.P.H.. Vary excellent journey. But they ready hard worker that olden days.
N&W 611's cousin from India.
Aaj yah purani train dikhakar Peete din yad a gaye bahut achcha Laga jisne bhi yah video Tari hai main uska dhanyvad bolata hun main Aisa Laga ki sadiyon piche chala Gaya jab yah itni acchi yah steam engine chala karte the Na jaane government ne ise kyon band Kiya samajh mein nahin aata
It seems to me that the Indiians are as eccentric and as passionate and love there steam trains as much as the British. Love it really do.
Amazing
wow faadu h sirji
awesome
wonderfull job done
I HEARD VIEWED SEEN STEAM LOCOS LIKE YC YD YG YP AND SOME OTHER TYPES HERE IN MYSORE THE THEN SOUTHERN RAILWAY I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH EVEN IN TRAVELLING BY YL TYPE BANKERS BETWEEN NANJANGUD AND MYSORE OCCASIONALLY DEPARTING AT 8 PM LOCO PILOT FRIENDS DOWLAND SITAR AM GOWRI SHANKAR RAM KUMAR AND OTHERS I AND NARASIMHA WERE THE DAILY TRAVELLERS 1968 TO 1972

Buen video, felicidades!
Legendary hardworker in the front and pappu at the back
Excellent
Nice video
Steam engines are the best.
Yea cool
The sweet memories
beautiful train
Good memmory of steam engine 😍❤
Beautiful
Wasnt that locomotive (or at least a class member) forcfully derailed after it decided to go full 777 and took off up the main line? Theres a video of her ramming straight through a gate and flying down the main on yt.
at present, this loco is in rewari loco shed
doesn't this engine remind you of the N&W #611?
Are there any wagons or coaches with vacuum brake left to use with these locomotives!?
good capture
good one
Great
like in cricket there are legends here this loco is the legend
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
Superb
Abhinav LHB there is a pappu at the rear of the train
unforgettable experience
The front of this engine reminds me of the n&w j 611
thats looks very rare!!!
Also incase the loco stops working as old ones tend to break. It can be moved of the line quickly
I think it was stopped but how its running now
I suppose and come to think of it. The ones ive have seen are probly backing up to carriges if they are seen in reverse. It would be pretty pointless a steam train going in reverse for a whole journey it would just be akward.
whats that small engine at the back...please anyone tell
nice machine! so sad not to buy as model-locomotive!
Oh God thats Bule icf era time
Is it running now its my favouraite
I am curious why is there bars on the windows of the second passenger carriage
