It's nice to know I'm not the only one not playing on tactician. Having to use scrolls of revivify too often is immersion breaking when you are supposed to imagine your characters worship gods. They might not want to return from the afterlife, particularly if they are facing ceremorphosis.
Why? The reason to return from.the dead is you haven't accomplished certain goals which fits adventurers almost no matter the god. Besides, unless you a priest, you can't worship a god in bg3. :D
In Baldur's Gate 3, the adventure the player and the origin characters are on is, "find a cure". Death cures the infection. Gods are a thing on Toril. Their appearance in avatar form and intervention in the world is part of the recorded history of the Toril. They have realms in the outer planes where their worshippers go in the afterlife. I suppose you can imagine that when you revive someone, the gods are acting through you. In regards to your observation that Larian left out choice of god for non-priests, I did some experimentation in-game. I re-specialized Shadowheart to be another class and then changed her back to cleric with the war domain. It didn't offer the option to pick a different god and labelled her as a priestess of Shar. I changed Astarion into a cleric of Lathander. The entry for Lathander says his followers despise the undead. I changed Wyll into a priest of Tiamat. Wyll is all about hunting down devils, but isn't restricted from becoming an agent of a devilish god. From this, I am going to say that I don't think class-choice based options or restrictions are intended to shape what the player imagines regarding in-world faith. Lore-wise, most commoners worship many gods at once, saying prayers to the god whose domain is relevant to their current situation or aspiration. That may be why they did not include the choice to pick a single god for non-priests.

I’m glad I found this bc I keep seeing TikToks about the game bc I’m on dndtok but never played, and want to. But I’m not the best at fighting video games, and was thinking I’d do narrative mode if I did get it (I googled the game). This will help me get a better idea.
The fighting takes some getting used to but its really nice that it doesn't have a time limit for taking turns or anything! You can be really strategic about how you want to fight while you take your time and there's also a bunch of ways to try to avoid combat in the first place. Really been enjoying this one!
Cantrips can be cast an unlimited number of times. Friends is mostly used during conversations rather than combat, but if the spell wears off while you are near, they will think less of you afterwards. Some of the ranged spells don't work well close up, so you'll want one spell for close combat.

I loved this stream, but man was my brain melting at random chat’s insistence to just basically trauma dump their decade+ of rpg/dnd knowledge onto you. I was just feeling the absolute overwhelming nature that the game can seem, even despite the rudders trying to constantly steer
It's a good idea to pick spells outside of your subclass when you level up. Since they are more expensive to buy later on. You can buy the Evocation ones for half the price.
This will be so awesome to vicariously live through the eyes of another witch! I'm a seasoned DM from the old D&D second addition. I read all about the d20 system but this was my first time playing anything using the mechanics. All the spells are the same though...even have Tasha's Hideous Laughter. Im about 10 hours in and really enjoying the game. Good luck and I also subbed...glad to be here
You look and sound just like my wife's cousin it's funny. Enjoying the content! I wish my PC could handle the game. I'll have to live vicariously through you. =)
1:03:15 "How do I know what costs what?" Each turn you get three phases: Move, Action, and Bonus Action. If you read the skill's description it will tell you if it's an action or bonus action, notated by the green or orange dot at the bottom of the skill's description card. In tabletop you would then roll dice to see if you succeed and what the resulting damage will be. In the video game it does dice rolls behind the scenes so you don't have to do any math yourself. :)
Maybe just.my personal preference. But i love playing Rogues, why? Because they have all the skills you need. Lock picking, finding traps, disable magical devices, sneak, hide in shadows, Deceive others, Deplomacy, plus many more and sneak attack which does double damage and can use it at range to. If you get really good at being the talking you can even convince someone to kill themselves 😊 Then all you need is 2 fighters/Barbarian, 1 cleric and yourself or 1 front lines fighter/Barbarian, 1 cleric, Druid/bard and yourself. Druid/bard is more crowd control. Well Druid is more crowd control Bard is more buff/debuff with some crowd control. Wizards/ Sorcerers are squishy they can cause a lot of damage but you don't want anyone to get close. It works like this Front line: Fighter's Barbarians Paladins Secondary damage dealers: Rogues Rangers Clerics Maybe bard's? Long range: Wizards Sorcerer's Warlocks The reason why i say Secondary inserted of Medium range is because Rogues can back stab with blades or use bows and cross bows at long range. Rangers can use swords and use their favored enemy or use bows at long range. Cleric can also use weapon How ever she should be used more as the healer of the party. Dave range weapons for rogues and rangers they will have more skill in it. Keep any fighting class with melee weapons. Also make sure you match the weapons with their abilities so they can have more options and do more damage. Meaning if the have a great axe Give them a great axe, if they have a sword give them a sword. If you're playing a wizard remember to keep your distance Let the front line get up close it's their job and they are good at it. Use you cleric to heal them while you stay far back as you can and deal damge, if you see an enemy getting closer move away from them if they hit you it might be the end for you. If you can hide behind the cleric and make sure you give her a sheald. Yes that would be Shadow Heart. Make sure Lazel has a sword Etc. What ever they most likely start off with is the weapon they know how to use best. In order to have good strategy Remember to look at your parties skills, abilities and/or magic. To give a better idea. And remember it's your party you should gear your party to synergies with each other. Or what happen in my D&D campaign. Friend Mage: cast force push on corrupt gard. Me Rogue: fires pinning shot Friend Barbarian: cuts off his other hand and she proceeds to intimadate the corrupt gard to get info. Me Rogue: use my talking skills to throw innuendos at him and say "i have a ring of regeneration, if you talk maybe I'll be nice and will give you your hand back" Pretty much that all synergiesed with each other and because the Barbarian was intimidating that gard it made it easier to convince him to do what i wanted. It works the same way in this video game. Pay attention of everything this is the type of game where if you think it you might just be able to do it. If you right click you'll get might get more options...wait or was it left click? Well idk my PC died.
It's interesting that every "let's play" I've watched for the first area has failed the checks to remove the brain. I passed it both times I played and loved it because of how adorable it is.
I dont know if you've figured out spell slots yet or not, but they can be a bit confusing when coming to d&d from other RPGs. Partly, I think the term "spell slot" is misleading, because its not really a "slot." Heres a quick primer: every spell has an associated level (1-9) representing approximately how powerful that spell is. Each caster gets a certain number of slots for each spell level that increases as they level up their character, and you can generally only cast a leveled spell if you have an unused spell slot of the same level. Your spell slots refill after a long rest. Your wizard starts off with two level 1 slots. Cantrips are spells, but they do not have a spell level and therefore do not use any slots. For example: Firebolt can be cast at will with no resources, but burning hands will use a spell slot. Theres more to know, like upcasting and character tiers, but this is the basics of spell slots.
I know I shouldn’t watch 2 and a half hours of someone playing Baldur’s Gate 3 where a solid chunk of the video is probably going to be dedicated to character creation, but my god do you sound entertaining
there truly is no shame on playing on easily. I play on easy with no party limit and 2x exp mods which really makes me enjoy the game and give me confidence to explore new options. I learnt you can jump to Karlach from the grove with enhance jump and feather falling.. made the world feel a little smaller thats for sure
1:49:25 Choosing spells. Note that there are many factors that go into spell design and therefore affect this decision. Here's an example from the video: Witch notices she has two healing spells selected and immediately banishes one and keeps the other. "We don't need two healing spells." Well, maybe not but the are VERY different spells. Cure Wounds (visible at 1:49:32) requires an action and the range is "Melee" so you must touch your target. It heals the larger amount at 4-11 HP. Healing Word (visible at 1:49:35) requires a BONUS action and has a range of 18 meters but heals for a smaller amount at 4-7 HP. So, one spell can be cast on an ally that you can't reach AND you can also cast any other spell or swing a weapon or do any other regular action in the same round. The other one heals about 25% more HP on average but you must put yourself in harm's way to touch your ally and you won't be able to do anything else except bonus actions that round. Also, if a friend is on the brink of death, you could actually do both heals on them if you want to. I know the Witch is new to this game at this point and didn't know any of this stuff. By now she does since I wrote this comment 3 weeks later. So it's really for anybody else trying to figure out how to understand the many, many spells in the game.
Assuming spells work like they do in 5e you wouldn't be able to cast both. Since if you cast a spell with a BA the only other spell you can cast that round is a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action
@@Astrid-td1to You are correct but BG3 does not have that restriction. I cast Bonus Action spells all the time, and still can cast any prepared spell of any level with my Action. Just today my Shadowheart cast a level 3 Spirit Weapon (BA) and a level 4 Spirit Guardian (Action) and wrecked the battlefield in record time. Next round she dropped a Level 3 Cure Wounds and a level 3 Healing Word on an NPC we needed to keep alive, swung that Sprit Weapon at the boss baddie and waded into battle melting 3 fiend minions with her swirling halo of Radiant death (Spirit Guardians).

@@DarksideGmss0513thanks asshole, nice single space between your spoiler on this LITERAL EPISODE ONE VIDEO
why are people like this
This is the exact kind of lets play i was looking for this weekend. I cant wait!
I hope you enjoy the videos 😊
Really enjoyed your outlook on the game it was fun and will be keeping up with your playthrough
54:05 your reaction at going thru the sphincter is just awesome. :)
you're going to be hooked, and this is going to be SO GOOD.
I think you can handle "balanced" =)
also just hit spacebar to "take all" or skip to the next dialogue (if you read faster than they do)
First video ive seen of you and im already loving it
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 and welcome to the Witch's Lair!
playing as wizard in first contat with dnd and don't reading everything.... this gonna be interesting hahaha
This was entertaining! I look forward to seeing how your adventure unfolds
I skipped to character creation, heard your voice, could see how intelligent you are, subscribed immediately. Your voice is heavenly and I could listen to it forever.
This is such a cute comment
You can never go wrong with Tieflings, the absolute best [with a romance to boot] went warlock:
I’m glad I found this bc I keep seeing TikToks about the game bc I’m on dndtok but never played, and want to. But I’m not the best at fighting video games, and was thinking I’d do narrative mode if I did get it (I googled the game). This will help me get a better idea.
The fighting takes some getting used to but its really nice that it doesn't have a time limit for taking turns or anything! You can be really strategic about how you want to fight while you take your time and there's also a bunch of ways to try to avoid combat in the first place. Really been enjoying this one!
11:53 the way i got so happy to a moko and representation for Maori tattoos in Bulder's Gate character customization
I’m excited to see someone play with no dnd experience!
Cantrips can be cast an unlimited number of times. Friends is mostly used during conversations rather than combat, but if the spell wears off while you are near, they will think less of you afterwards.
Some of the ranged spells don't work well close up, so you'll want one spell for close combat.
Great video and I excited to watch you play through
Hope you enjoy it!
slightly painful to watch as someone that knows what everything does but I also acknowledge the learning curve for games like this and it's pretty fun watching people find how everything works
This is the first video I have ever seen from you, but I’ve been watching a lot of videos and streams of various people playing it for the first time I can’t yet myself waiting for PS5 release, but I appreciate that even though it’s not necessarily the type of game that you’ve played before from what you. Said. you’re actually having a good time with it learning how to play paying attention reading a lot of stuff and not just skipping I’ve noticed a lot of people unfortunately, just getting upset at the game and not liking so it’s cool to see that you are not so you get a sub from me for sure you have a really fun personality too so that’s great also lol
You look more elven than actors in shows that cost millions. That's both a compliment and a SMH to them btw lol
Just saw your about, so awesome I found your channel.
Also a Souls freak, RPG lover, and love to cook. (saw you make food from the games you play what a great idea!!)
I also mountain bike and am a fitness nut, lift weights a lot and spend a lot of time in nature, its fitting because I am a Celtic/Norwegian pagan spiritually.
Of all the streamers and game content creators looks like you fit best.
2 hrs in and glad to meet you Paige, i am enjoying this playthrough so far and looking forward to watching.
Just found your channel, love watching a first timer, and an elf play this awesome game.
Small tip, you can throw potions to apply the effects to other characters. 😊
still cant get over the fact she has irl features of an Elf but then plays a tiefling lol
OHHHHH, necromancer. I LOVE that. Dont let her forget the book
Phenomenal video as always paige, also love the ears. This looks such an amazing game. Keep being fantastic
Thank you! 😊
Pull the lever on the wall to open the door. Also if you press left (Alt) tab you can see all the items you can loot and see what you might have missed.
You could’ve stealthed and sent the cat familiar inside alone to the explosive barrels. Then make him meow and the bandits would go over and expose themselves to the barrels’ damage radius. Then shoot the barrels.
Ooh something to consider! The power of the cat
Would like to know the lore of this game, in time. Great playthrough, Paige!
👏😀 You've become quite the elf
in this video. Pretty 😊👍
You've got 30+ years of lore for Faerun lol
@@Rook986 😅 thanks Rook!
I've never played Dnd but I'm glad someone else is also in the same boat. I'm thinking of possibly buying it seeing so many positive reviews and the IGN video lol
It's an amazing game! I'd definitely recommend it if you like choice based games 😊
Nice video! Glad I found you! I will have to check out your Horizon playthrough later.
Gotta lean into those WIZARD options more often.
True I've gotta embrace the magic ✨
Great stream, nice to meet ya. Your reaction when the alien leech goes into the eye in the beginning was priceless. LoL
I can't wait to see your first reaction to the guardian interactions. 😂😏
Great video! Just so you know since you said you don't play DND,. you have disadvantage when using ranged attacks in close combat/engaged range.
Thanks for the info!
Wow--7 bonus points to investigation! My character's only got 8 intelligence, so those rolls are much harder.
I loved this stream, but man was my brain melting at random chat’s insistence to just basically trauma dump their decade+ of rpg/dnd knowledge onto you. I was just feeling the absolute overwhelming nature that the game can seem, even despite the rudders trying to constantly steer
Haha I feel that, it seems overwhelming at first! I appreciate that most people have been patient while I learn this new style of game
the character creator seems similar to Neverwinter MMO but it has expanded on it which is very, very cool
From the few videos of people making their characters, fellas be loving the tieflings it seems
It's a good idea to pick spells outside of your subclass when you level up. Since they are more expensive to buy later on. You can buy the Evocation ones for half the price.
Don't forget that the alt key is your friend.
I love watching people get lost in the character creator. We all do that.
That last fight: LEEEROOOOY JEEEENKINS!!! 😂
7:15 Githyanki are actually really good for mage classes, as the race gives them armor.
Anything involving Illithids is automatically a horror game.
Thieflings are the best: Horns, elf ears, fangs, dark eyes and a tail.
For my solo playthrough I went with a tiefling Barb! 😊
I love that this is the most viewed vidro on your channel!!
'hmm healing word and cure wounds, well we dont need both' GAHHHH lolol
The other girl saying we need to get out, and the looter in all of us keeps searching bodies.
If you get really good at being the talking you can even convince someone to kill themselves 😊
Then all you need is 2 fighters/Barbarian, 1 cleric and yourself or
1 front lines fighter/Barbarian, 1 cleric, Druid/bard and yourself.
Druid/bard is more crowd control.
Well Druid is more crowd control
Bard is more buff/debuff with some crowd control.
Wizards/ Sorcerers are squishy they can cause a lot of damage but you don't want anyone to get close. It works like this
Front line:
Fighter's
Barbarians
Paladins
Secondary damage dealers:
Rogues
Rangers
Clerics
Maybe bard's?
Long range:
Wizards
Sorcerer's
Warlocks
The reason why i say Secondary inserted of Medium range is because Rogues can back stab with blades or use bows and cross bows at long range.
Rangers can use swords and use their favored enemy or use bows at long range.
Cleric can also use weapon
How ever she should be used more as the healer of the party.
Dave range weapons for rogues and rangers they will have more skill in it.
Keep any fighting class with melee weapons. Also make sure you match the weapons with their abilities so they can have more options and do more damage.
Meaning if the have a great axe
Give them a great axe, if they have a sword give them a sword.
If you're playing a wizard remember to keep your distance
Let the front line get up close it's their job and they are good at it.
Use you cleric to heal them while you stay far back as you can and deal damge, if you see an enemy getting closer move away from them if they hit you it might be the end for you. If you can hide behind the cleric and make sure you give her a sheald. Yes that would be Shadow Heart.
Make sure Lazel has a sword
Etc. What ever they most likely start off with is the weapon they know how to use best.
In order to have good strategy
Remember to look at your parties skills, abilities and/or magic.
To give a better idea.
And remember it's your party you should gear your party to synergies with each other.
Or what happen in my D&D campaign.
Friend Mage: cast force push on corrupt gard.
Me Rogue: fires pinning shot
Friend Barbarian: cuts off his other hand and she proceeds to intimadate the corrupt gard to get info.
Me Rogue: use my talking skills to throw innuendos at him and say "i have a ring of regeneration, if you talk maybe I'll be nice and will give you your hand back"
Pretty much that all synergiesed with each other and because the Barbarian was intimidating that gard it made it easier to convince him to do what i wanted.
I passed. Still killed it. Its evil. The thing is an intellect DEVOURER. It's not cute.
@@volourn9764 intellect devourer make you go brrr
Ugh, you did so good with your guardian. I want to start over😢
My barbarian halfling ripped the pod open lol
😂
there truly is no shame on playing on easily. I play on easy with no party limit and 2x exp mods which really makes me enjoy the game and give me confidence to explore new options. I learnt you can jump to Karlach from the grove with enhance jump and feather falling.. made the world feel a little smaller thats for sure
I chuckled when she thought she was almost done character creating knowing she had at least another 20 minutes to go 😭
So. Many. Choices. 🤣
Well hello there😍😍Paigethewitch😍
1:49:25 Choosing spells.
Note that there are many factors that go into spell design and therefore affect this decision.
Here's an example from the video:
Witch notices she has two healing spells selected and immediately banishes one and keeps the other. "We don't need two healing spells."
Well, maybe not but the are VERY different spells.
Ultimately the main difference is that Word is a godlike spell and Cure Wounds is mediocre.
You want magic missile. It goes around corners. Thunderwave is great for pushing enemies off of ledges.
Missed opportunity to call yourself paige the mage
“Don’t touch weird things.” *Touches a sphincter*
Just got the Druid Halsin last night, fun game
I just started playing in the past couple weeks but the PS5 can’t handle act 3 for some reason, so I’m just gonna watch you play it. And, poor Us. RIP brain buddy.
what do you mean can’t handle act 3 I was just planning on buying the game 😭
Just won a follow for sipping wine being fine
Damn, I missed so much in the ship tbat you got.
I also missed class selection. Ended up a rogue by mistake.
It helped me tremendously though at the start...and I became an arcane trickster so got my magic after all
I really wanna play this game.
It's been so fun I hope you get the chance!
Interesting playthrough. I would have liked to see the map in the top right to see where you were, but I guess you needed to have yourself on screen too.
Dang taking healing spell off your cleric is brave
fellow Tiefling, hi *wave. My Neverwinter main is Tiefling Soulweaver Warlock but I have a Tief Wizardess too
38:03 grease is flammable and adds fire damage
enjoyed this
Wow, I’m SO IMPRESSED with the customization options, especially when it came to the hair. I was expecting something like this with Diablo 4 and instead.. it was so empty and bare minimum. Ugh
I do hope they keep adding things to Diablo 4- more character customization would be lovely! This game feels like its gonna raise my standards for other games i'm worried lol
@@PaigeTheWitch After watching your gameplay, it already has raised my standards and now I look at Diablo 4 and I’m like, “this is just unacceptable” buahah.
why do i like people in elf ears so much XD
