I used to walk 5 miles a day 6 days a week, lost a ton of weight, and had no special diet, but a natural effect was I lost my appetite and was just not as hungry. So I have to say... movement IS a way to bring down your weight, but now knowing that keto/low carb and OMAD with a short daily walk is more sustainable for me, I have no time to walk 5 miles a day. I've been at keto lifestyle for 5 years now, and it's not hard. I don't track macros now. Just eat until full, one meal, some days two meals, but no snacking, seasonally I garden and do short walks.

"Where the mind goes, the man follows." I went through a stage of making Keto / CV / KV life consume me. I watched videos, read books, followed Instagram etc. It made me even more food focused! Now I let most of that go and maybe watch one thing a week, if that. I don't want to trade one obsession (SAD / FOOD) for another. Jesus said, "Life is more than food." He has so much more for us to accomplish! I finally am feeling free just making LC foods what I eat and not a career choice! 😅

I have ended up at the same place as both of you. I knew my joint and muscle pain increased with dairy. As of April 1, 23 I stopped raw cream, kefir, yougert and cheeses. I eat only when I'm hungry. Sometimes its one time a day , sometimes it's 2 times a day. Some days I am not hungry. I had been at the same weight for 8 months, after 3 weeks of stopping all dairy except butter I suddenly dropped 7 pounds. I do not have a weight goal, I will let my body decide where it wants to be. I learned I don't want to punish my body with dairy, even though I LOVE dairy. My body is happiest on beef, butter, pork belly, eggs, coffee, Keto Chow Daily Minerals and Redmonds salt. My " fast food" go to is Costco Teton Waters 100% grass fed hot dogs. My body is happiest eating when hungry, don't eat by the clock anymore. I have meat on hand at all times and an airfryer both at home and my office for when I get hungry. Life is very simple now. I spend far les money on food, multiple serious health issues are gone, Im 50 lbs lighter and I keep healing.

    1. I did not hear anything controversial in this video. At least to me. What I heard, is that U2 are doing what is sustainable for you. Anybody that gives you a hard time or disses you over it, should go pound sand.
    2. I appreciate your sharing that there is more than one way to do this. You encourage people to experiment and figure out what works for them. And you identify different aspects of it all as well as what else goes into becoming healthy beyond just diet.
    3. This is a saying I used to see a lot of in 2004 to 2007 when I first started very low carb. “Low carb makes you look good. Exercise makes you look good naked.“ nowadays I would substitute in physical movement for the word exercise. But, I think it is still true.
Love you two! Thank you for sharing, and keep up the excellent work!❤

Breaking a fast does not mean stopping Ketosis.
Ketosis is not an on/off switch, it just happens at different levels.
Having butter (or cream moreso) in coffee will reduce the level of Ketosis
for a time but does not completely stop it and the level will rise again after digesting the butter or cream.

I also have a standing order in my home where there are zero stressful subjects discussed after dinner. This lowers stress prior to bedtime.

I gained a pound or two over the last week but I know it was using a whole (smallish) avocado in my morning Keto Chow. They were just perfectly ripe! And now they are finished and I will go back to avocado oil, Gundry's olive oil (for chocolate flavors) or butter and keep the fat level down as Keto Chow suggests.I may give their dairy-free more of a trial, dairy seems to affect my knees sometimes (but other joints seem ok). Thanks for keeping it real and making the point we should find what works for each of us, not just blindly grasp at what our favorite UA-camrs do as our own solution. You do good in the world!

After wearing a CGM and seeing with my own eyes that when I was experiencing stress, my glucose spiked higher then any food I ate. So it’s motivated me to find a new job that I start next week. My sleep was awful and I decided to invest in helping in that area. Purchased a Bedjet and it’s been a game changer. From hot/cold covers on/covers off to solid sleep. I was already incorporating about an hour of movement every day. And the scale started consistently moving. So I agree with everything you said 100%. This is all thanks to you both. I started thinking about these areas of my life because of you two so I am extremely thankful for the impact that you have made in my life. I am the lowest weight of my adult life.

Getting consistent, intentional movement in everyday has done so much to help with my stress management and well being. Not even a lot, like 20-30 minutes a day helps. And having good sleep hygiene is so, so important. Even one night of poor sleep makes you markedly more insulin resistant the next day.

Watching this June 2023. like the comments about not tracking macros, the body’s natural progression to eating less frequently and the movement and stress segments.
I have an excel spreadsheet where I have been tracking many variables. Now that I am focusing on satiety, the macros are less important to me. I am going to switch out those macro goal numbers with movement data points!
I had been getting stressed about not getting enough healthy fats in and either under-consuming or over-consuming protein (still a little hung upon number of grams of protein per lean body mass - but I will get over that eventually)..
I had great success with a keto lifestyle for 322 straight days up until July 2021. Life stressors happened and daily binge eating followed. I have recommitted to my health (since April 7 of this year). I am learning how to listen to body’s queues and watching this video has me feeling reassured that my body isn’t playing tricks on me. I no longer look at the clock and say, oh, its noon, I’d better have some lunch.
I do enjoy my “keto” coffee every morning (coffee, MCT oil, collagen powder and cream). I enjoy my coffee every day even during periods were I seem to comfortably go for 42 hours before I get hungry again.

Don't give up on yourself when all seems lost. N=1, stay in your lane and be flexible enough to accept when things aren't working anymore and change is necessary. Thanks so much for this candid, timely message.
One more thing... extended fasts are powerful and not just for weight loss. Approach the process with respect and clarity. Insight gained will heal us on several levels.

With my work life schedule, I just find it impossible to eat as needed during the work week. If I'm going to have breakfast it has to start and finish between 6:30 and 7:30. Lunch needs to be between 11:30 and 1:30. Diner has to be between 5:30 and 7:00. Once the clock hits 7:00, I am done eating. I'm not going to do snacks so my choices are either eat the meal in the interval or skip the meal and possibly deal with the hunger. I incorporate shorter fasts but they really are just skipping meals, not adjusting the schedule.

I really appreciate you sharing this topic today. I can't explain it but it's like I have gotten weary of thinking about food. In the beginning, Keto snacking was a wonderful standby to prevent binging on wrong foods and it took me awhile to be okay with eating the fats. For a long time my mentality was stuck on portion control. Then I was able to focus on eating plenty of Quality Meats and fats. Eventually I found myself really spacing out my meals. I didn't initially know it but I started doing intermittent fasting because I just wasn't hungry and I figured it wouldn't hurt me to skip the meal. All the different UA-camrs that I was watching we're having various programs like monthly challenges you know BBBE there was so many different things to choose from but my main focus was just make sure I eat the right things. I was totally obsessed with staying away from processed foods, using my glucose meter to find out if what I ate spiked my blood sugars or not. I was so focused on cause and effect of anything at all that went into my mouth. For a long time my medicine ruled that I had to eat when I took those meds. Fortunately since a lot of my medications have been lowered, I just make adjustments to them when I decide to not eat. There is so much freedom in intermittent fasting turning into extended fasting without experiencing fear and anxiety. I have eliminated the arguments with my doctor whenever she sees my blood test results every 3 months. The results prove to her that I am doing the right thing and not harming myself.

I’ve been carnivore for one year. Three sizes down from a weight gain from winter of 21 to 22 and two vacations. The scale doesn’t move much, but I don’t care. In in November I started exercising and in February I started a coloring page. I divided a hot air balloon into 30 sections and every day I colored in a new section. I’ve got March done and half of April now. My friend taught me this. It keeps me motivated because I do not want a white blank. I want them colored in. I use colored markers. It’s been a rather cool spring in the Pacific Northwest and I have been walking for two weeks now often on as much as I can. I got my phone plugged into headphones picked a video to listen while I walked and it was yours. I walked about a third of a mile straight up our hill to the top and then Down and around zigzagging back-and-forth till I got home. It was enjoyable, listening to you guys on the walk especially when you talked about movement. That is so important. I know that there are people out there that say you can lose weight and not have to exercise and it’s true to a point. You get to a part where you’re not losing anything you’re not toning you’re not doing anything and that’s why I started in November. I had been taking the road just before the very top and getting a mile and a quarter in. And just doing that extra block and going to the stop sign on a very busy road gave me a mile and a third. I will be 65 in August and I feel better than I did when I was 60 after a very bad weight gain when my father passed away and started losing weight again. On keto I do feel that I lose weight but I had not healed some issues that I don’t want to discuss because it’s TMIL loL but I have cleared out my asthma My arthritis is better which was pretty mild and just in my hip and my lower G.I. issue. You guys did amazing on that weight loss. Very impressive.

Your comment really resonated with me. I am 60 years old. I am 60 lbs. Overweight my blood pressure is through the roof. I tweaked my hip and feel like I'm falling apart. I had a scary Doctor's appointment last Wednesday and I'm committed to getting this weight off using the Keto diet. I believe I can do it because I've done it before. Back in 2019. Unfortunately I let it slip away. I think I would like to try the coloring page. I love to draw and sketch. Good luck to you.

I'm very envious. I sleep 8 hours a night, walk 3 miles a day and have zero stress in my life (comfortably retired, happy marriage, good kids). Still stalled after 2 years on weight loss. Religiously follow keto diet.

I'm so happy for you. Do you ever worry that you could fast too much or get disordered eating? I'm not saying you are disordered. It's just there's a fine line and I think in our community we have to be aware of eating disorders, even if we ourselves don't have an eating disorder. Some eating disorder traits like fasting are very similar to someone with an eating disorder. It made it much harder for me to realise that i was sick because no one spoke about starvation syndrome, or fasting too much. Fasting was normalised. I thought it was more than ok to fast as i had fat on my body. These aren't easy topics. I wish i had known that it was bad for me. I'm a bit protective of others now. I do think you should make a point to eat if you're not hungry as that allowed me to starve myself. For me in my recovery i want to have food be social. I want to share yummy things, say keto treats made out of keto chow for example with my non keto family. You are both so lovely and glowing so I'm really glad that it's working for you. ❤❤

I found I wasn’t hungry just craving that sweet taste. I started drinking black coffee in the morning and I became very sensitive to my real hunger cues. Now I wait till I am truly hungry and it has turned out to be omad on most days. I discovered that I am sensitive to keto sweetness and they made me think I was hungry and I truly wasn’t.

I think everyone has to find out works for them for sure. It basically sounds like you're doing intuitive eating & and then you throw in a couple of days of modified alternate day of fasting (up to 500 cal). I've been toying with this since going keto & then carnivore - but nervy about getting back into any kind of restricting - since I come from a background of that & although I was thin - I wasn't healthy. You're inspiring me to think that I can do it now & just follow my instincts, not rules. Good for you!
