    nice to see a car review where the car isnt shown in the most expensive version because there are for sure some people out there getting frustrated when watching a review of an s-version which they will never achieve ^^
    i personally would never go for the cheapest version, because i want a certain style of exterior/interior but reviews about middle trim cars are more usefull in some cases i think :)
    keep up the good work.
    greetings from austria

      I am interested in base versions for two reasons. 1. Best value for money and 2. The car is showing "true colors" if you know what i mean.

    Thoughtful and nicely detailed review of the 1.0 engine Seat Ateca. Great to see the entry level cars being reviewed rather than the superficial top spec efforts - as by definition most people are going to be vaguely disappointed by the real life range below that.
    I have test driven the 1.0 engine Seat Ateca as I too thought it may be underpowered. In fact it is fine, remarkably suitable and turbo punchy, especially for the money. Insurance savings, particularly for the younger driver are marked. So it is as accurately described in the video for the intelligent purchaser seeking an affordable well designed, but stylish, compact SUV. Great, quality, review Autogefuhl. Keep 'em coming.

      So I investigated and indeed it was properly set in the editing, it's obviously a common bug with channel decompression which also happens in a lot of movies when you watch them outside the cinema (multiple channels are broken down to less channels and therefore enhancing the volume for music and effects)

      Autogefühl Hi Thomas, thank you for picking this car with the smallest petrol engine. Thank you for reading the comments carefully. This tells me that you really care. Great respect! The Seat Ateca seems to be a perfect car. It looks good and is still very practical. The instruments and the whole cockpit are extremely well done. Good to handle, stylish but not overstyled. For me as a very calm, consumption and comfort oriented driver the small petrol engine would be enough. (At a speed of 80 km/h I use the fifth gear also for accelerating onto the Autobahn. There is no need to go from 80 to 120 in third gear. Therefore you have the rear view mirror). Only about 2000 revs at 100 km/ h, that' s quite amazing. The Style trim level is also pretty fine. Probably the best compromise, because it has some luxury like the nice 17 inch wheels but not too much. With this car I can understand why people want to have an SUV although they aren' t foresters. You have this comfortable seating position, much headroom and this feeling of comfort and safety. I can very well imagine without having driven the car. For families with two or three children the Ateca could be an attractive car. On the other hand these five people might find as much space, safety and comfort in a Seat Leon ST. It has less of weight ( in this case the SUV is admittedly only 40 kilos heavier), less fuel consumption, more sustainability, more agility and driving fun and the same nice quality of exterior and interior design. The Ateca however is 20 cm shorter than the Leon ST, definitely a clear advantage again for the "mobile high seat". I don' t usually like SUVs at all (4 wheel drive for the city? too heavy, too wide, too much consumption etc.). But the Ateca looks like a smart exception, at least with the small, moderate engines. The colour of the test vehicle looks very good as well. Seat and the whole Volkswagen group should continue in that direction of both quality and high class design and also be a forerunner in making the turbo petrol engines clean by building in soot filters as soon as possible. Volkswagen deserves managers and engineers who are passionate about building good cars for normal people ( this is what Volkswagen means). No more cheating please!
      To get it right: a good car must be good in three ways: 1. for the environment, 2. for its driver and codrivers and 3. for other road users. No more cars that are just good for the ego of the driver!

    The engine is small, but in my opinion it has a better sound than all the boring 4 cylinder engines. As well, the weight is around 100 to 150 kg lower than the bigger engines. Unfortunately the 1.0 TSI is not available with DSG.
    However - with respect to the actual traffic situation all around - 115 PS are enough. Especially for Austria - on the highway, there is a speed limit of 130 cm/h.

    It seems to go pretty well for 1.0L. I was impressed with 80-120 and the sound isnt half bad either. So many good value cars available. The budget segment has really improved a lot and the quality is looking to be pretty good as well!

    Happy New Year Thomas and Team. Thanks for the great detailed Review of the Ateca 1.0 TSI. (Agree that a Lane Assist system that moves the steering wheel is very off-putting - I switch it off! A system that only sounds a calm gong or quiet bell would be better, but I would probably switch that off too! I agree that Side Assist or a Blind Spot Warning system is quite a good idea if there is a nice big warning light in the door mirror that keeps you on your toes). All the best for 2017.

    1.0 TSI engine would be more than enough for me for my (mostly city) use case + some high ways but unfortunately it's not available with DSG. What's even worst, there's no Style trim level offered with DSG on our market (funny it's produced here ;-). Then it would be my favorite and next car. But as for DSG/DCT I'm forced to higher trim levels for Ateca and Tucson. And then Tucson offers more for less. And of course, higher price means I'm not yet convinced to buy a new car...

  • @CT37BN
    @CT37BN 7 років тому

    1.0 liter 3-cyl. turbo I believe is pushing the boundaries at that size and segment. Gains in terms of economy/durability and even value in the long day-to-day run would be hard to achieve. Performance will be an ongoing frustration as well ( what more with a full load and on hill climbs ). Front is only the interesting bit. Cabin is alright although it sort of reminds me of a certain Hyundai with the dashboard.
    Nice car/SUV just the same. Top honest review Thomas.

    If you don't drive so much the 1.0TSI is OK!
    But for a SUV in this segment I would rather go for the 2.0TDI.
    But iI think overall SEAT did a great job with the matching of the engine and the transmission

    • @verliebt3465

    • @ghp0518

      If you don't drive much you might consider a bike or a compact/ mini in which this engine would make sense.
      For a SUV considering your needs require to get one ex: you have 3-4 people traveling with you most of the time and they need space to be comfortable and room for luggage , I don't see this engine making sense in this scenario, the 1.4 TSI on the other hand makes a lot of sense.

  • @adrbck
    @adrbck 7 років тому

    Hey Thomas ! I think it is very little power and torque for the Ateca. I prefer the 1.4 T engine with 150 PS. When the vehicle has a maximum load of 5 passengers traveling that 3-cylinder engine has to suffocate, due to lack of thrust.

  • @Ambienfinity

    Autogefühl we have it as 2nd family car besides our a4 in style plus Austria package including led lights and a lot more plus free 5 years warranty! and the car and engine is great :-)
    and the prize was about 25.000,- (attention: more taxes in Austria!) which is absolutely OK and reasonable. Although we are mainly driving in the Tyrolean alps and no Autobahn the fuel consumption is about 7L which is OK too...

    Hi Thomas, can you add my idea to your reviews please? It would be useful to all of us if you make child seat test by placing child seats on the back to check how many space is left and how many seats can you fit (2 or 3). I've got that idea as i own Volvo V40 and during festive season i went for a trip with my friends and their baby. They've got Britax seat which takes enormous amount of space, there was no space for for baby legs behind me, can't even imagine how it would be in smaller car.
    Kind regards and successful 2017
    Lukasz

    So is the size difference kodiak -> tiguan -> ateca from biggest to smallest? Also the design is.... Interesting but boring at the same time.. A tiguan nearly made me sick when I saw it for the first time. Hideous.

    When you talk about emissions you should talk about direct injected petrol engines aswell, their emissions are even far more dangerous and harmful for humans because they have no particle filter and produce the worst kind of particles. Last week (far too late) the EU finally decided that in the future direct injected petrol engines also need to have a particle filter.
    Direct injection should be completely banned, it's completely unnecessary, mutli point injection petrol engines have much cleaner emissions.

      @autogefuehl  7 років тому

      yep thats right with the direct injection particles

      Biased? Supporting/promoting German cars? Greetings to you! But this Review didn't seem to be very biased! And this Review I think was of a car built in the Czech Republic. I think. Only my opinion, however. I'm probably wrong. All the best and good wishes.

      Even my old 2009 Leon had the "fin" option, it costed about 100$ US. They just don't advertise a lot of options for their cars, you have to go to the dealer and take the accessories catalogue. Rubber boot mat or a Seat branded coffee cup would be good examples.
