INFJ here! Really appreciate Antonia’s Ti insights in breaking down the theories and Joel’s Fi openness and vulnerability in sharing his experiences. Exploring my 6th function, Fi, has helped me identify my values and preferences while honoring others’ individuality, which also strengthened my co-pilot Fe, bringing more trust and authenticity to both my work and relationships.
Thank you for this I'm an ENTP (typed by Inès!) and my boss is ENTJ so let me tell you I can feel my 6th function (Te) being triggered all the time. This content by you really landed at the right time for me. You say I would be Luke and he's Yoda but boy I would say that it's more like a Frodo-Sauron type of situation! I'm really looking forward to your applied content about ENTP because as you said Antonia it is a real struggle in the corporate world of work that is so much about productivity and Te.
Hey lovelies! Love that you’ve been doing Beebe’s work now. For your Ti needs: Ego (self) syntonic and dystonic (opposite) come from German terms used by Freud…
lol Joel. I refer to the Senex/Witch as the Curmudgeon or our Cranky old person side that shakes its fist to the Parent/Elder energy and others. 😅 For me, with Ne-6th, and I’m in my old cranky lady self in that moment, one of its side effects is that possibilities are then shut down/off and it’s back to “Te business” or the 1 Ni topic or tunnel vision at hand.
Joel’s example of Fe being a recruiter really solidified my understanding of the 6th function. I think my Fi tends to identify others’ strengths easily. I’ll type people in my life, label them (accurately), and encourage them in their pursuit. Myself, not so much haha.
Is it accurate to relate the sixth function archetype of the witch/senex to an initiator? An example I can think of is the story of the Baba Yaga, who is a witch that gives an initatiotion, one must pass her test. You used the example of Yoda, who was there to initiate Luke to becoming a Jedi. Is this the part of us that we must pass its test? Is this the part of us that gives its nod of approval and says, "you are ready"? Is this the part of us that guards the gate and won't let us pass if we have not earned passage. Equally, is this a place where temptations are introduced as part of the initiation?
