on the topic of squadded footage, it would be cool to see a guide video on squad/multi-person tactics to win engagements. so many people have no idea what they're doing when they fly in squads and often just end up all going in different directions to do their own thing

Shame you didnt do (nvmd the last kill was the thing) the S-21 timed fuse trick from like a decade ago, those were the glory days of WT. 300m fuse, perfect counter against sabre cancer roll as far as I remember. But, BUT - I did a head nod so much this vid I know you get this plane regardless.
Maybe I've just gotten bad at using it, but I feel like the S-21 has been nerfed a lot since the glory days. Feels like the blast radius is smaller and even when I hit it I seem to barely do any damage.
man, watching vids on old 9.0 jets just makes me sad these days. i never really got gripped by the aam gameplay switch and it just makes me miss that old matchmaker. had its problems for sure, but it was special in its own way
I remember playing the F11F a lot back then and the one rule I had for it was to NEVER EVER get slow with a Mig-17. Almost nothing can touch the F11F on its own battle rating, but the Mig-17 was a very hard fight...

The only Mig-17 I crewed is the Chinese F-5 witch still sits at 9.3! Imagine what games I GET with that. Guess they forgot that plane when lowered the BR's of the other gen 1 fighters like the F-86F-40.
I got the 17AS back when they first added it and it's been my favorite jet in the game since. The flight characteristics really make me feel like it's the A6M2 of 9.0, with a sluggish roll rate and a bad top speed, but such incredible maneuverability that a straight up dogfight rarely takes more than 3-4 turns to win. Once you take the time to get the feel for the guns, it's very satisfying to 1 tap people even on high deflection shots from .7km+. I think the AS is worth a .3 bump since you're often uptiered anyway, and as shitty as the missiles are, they're good for forcing an F104 to bleed his speed, or downing a bomber that refuses to die.
With the recent changes to the wing-ripping dynamic Gaijin has made, is the boosters module more viable to run on planes now? In the past, I would just research it but leave it unequipped on planes like F-4 Phantoms, G.91s, etc... because of the increased likelihood that they'd snap their wings off.
Mig-17AS is my therapy plane, I absolutely love to fly this plane, even if it's at 9.0 and constantly facing the F8U-2 menace. My only complaint is that the Mig-17PF and the Lim-5P should be 9.0 as well, with the afterburning engine they have an even better flight performance than the Mig-17, and though I love the 37mm, 3 23mm guns are just objectively better. Other than this Gaijin oopsie, the Mig-17 is a treat in my opinion.

Can you cover the base Etendard IVM version? I feel like it's pretty iffy at the moment, because of the lack of elevator control it has (literally struggles to pull up at any speed even with flaps).

what do you think about the Kfir C.7? It has great flight performance now that it doesn't snap, 4 good missiles, but no radar and less flares and to me even tho you can definitely play well if you know what you're doing its kinda stuck in terms of going up against F14s (especially fakourtards), and SARH spam and really suffers because its a more close distance plane. It doesn't help when you don't have enough flare and chaff to dodge 46 missiles all types coming at you throughout the game, and if your team is ass there isn't much you can do. I feel like planes 11.3 and up that only have IR missiles and good flight performance (with not a lot of flares) really suffer from the multipathing meta and really rely on playing on your team for a lot of the game, you cant really carry your team consistently like you could before the nerf where now all SARH missiles hit way more and you have an addition of some new planes that really destroy the playability for other planes in the tier. IE: Kfir Canard, J35XS, F5E FCU, Kurnass 2000, Kfir C.7, F5C, Mig 23ML (uptiered to 11.0) and there are definitely more that suffer aswell like the previous top tiers that are behind in missiles like F16A, Netz or even F15A (when constantly uptiered). I feel like although the IRF14A is a great plane it was by far the worst vehicle to allow the majority of the playerbase grind for an event (on top of being in the US tech tree). They should really overhaul the BR system, and take away the multipathing nerf for planes under something like 13.0 (or just make it 80-90 meters) or at least add a .5 BR to separate many planes and prevent certain planes from playing against others so it'd be 11.0-.3-.5-.7-12.0. for the purpose of moving up the .3 planes that don't quite belong in .7 and .7 that don't quite belong in .3 which would also allow the .0 planes that don't quite belong in .3 and the other way around to move up and down accordingly.
Top Tier will never peak again like it did in the times when Mig15s vs Sabres where the TOP Top Tiers. They could've kept adding more korean era jets like the F9Fs, the Hunters, the Mysteres etc and it would still keep its charm. Damn shame.
Well, to be honest - that was kinda annoying. Back in the day you fly MiGs or Hunter. Or you just suffer, because those will take all kills. Sabres, Banshees, La-15 and others was just worse in every single way.
@@PyromaN93 The old mm/meta had it's problems but saying Sabres weren't competitive is just insane. 15bis, 17, F2, Cl13, Hunter were all S tier pre-2019. Obviously the meta shifted around depending on the patch, but those jets were all competitive for years. Off meta support jets were harder to use in some aspects because the overall jet playerbase was populated by more skilled players on average than it is today, but there were some that were still useful and fun like the G91R, the Yak30, etc. The overall gameplay was much better because air RB wasn't so PVE oriented like it is now, and people who played jets on average played to improve so good fights were way more common than now.
