    Hey guys,
So for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the person who requested for me to do a hair straightening video but here it is!
So if we look at the facts, straightening thick frizzy hair just like mine and most likely yours (if you've found this video) can be an extremely big task. But if done properly, it can look awesome!
In my opinion, knowing how to straighten thick frizzy hair starts with knowing the right products to use. As you will see in the video above I've used a heap of different products to give my hair the best result when straightening it and 4 of which are pre-styling hair products.
The first 4 products I use on my before straightening my hair are most beneficial for my hair type (coarse, thick and frizzzy) and are as follows:
    #1: bhave Leave-in Creme
If you follow me regularly you will already know why I love this product and what it does. However for those who don't bhave leave-in creme is a leave-in conditioner made from organic ingredients including keratin and what it does is, it helps dry frizzy hair retain moisture and give it a nicer feel thus keeping it in a healthy condition.
Even if I don't straighten my hair this is the one product I use EVERY DAY without fail. If just by looking you can tell your hair is similar to mine, I would try this product out or at least something like it. I also have a promo code with these guys that can get you free shipping on all bhave products for the US, Candian and Australian store. The code is THOMASFREESHIP. enjoy.
    #2: bhave Supernova
bhave supernova is a fairly new product from bhave and it's designed to be an elixir for your hair. The ingredients in it keep your hair nice and healthy but the number one thing I like about this product is the shine it gives my hair. If I don't straighten my hair, I don't really see the shine effect of this product. But baby when I do straighten my hair it looks fucking fabulous... just watch the video again haha.
    #3: Davroe Straightening Balm
Davroe straightening balm is the freaking bomb! The reason I love using this product is that it gives my hair a really really smooth finish after straightening. It also helps decrease that hideous "poof" you sometimes when you straighten your hair. If you have never heard of a straightening balm, I would also highly recommend trying one out. it'll be your new bestie.
    #4: Sebastian Trillant Heat Protector
Look, I'm just going to say this now. Frizzy hair or not use a fucking heat protector! too many people race around blow drying and straightening their mop not giving a fuck and then wonder why their hair ends up all brittle, broken and shitty...
If anything, a heat protector is the most important product to use when you straighten your hair. The one I use is by Sebastian Trillant. I've found this one to work really well. I don't straighten my hair a hell of a lot and I've had this product for like ever but man, I would not be caught dead using heat on my hair without it. Rant over haha.
After I use this 4 products in the pre-styling stage I blow dry my hair and then give it a straighten.
I have a heap of Utensils I use when blow drying and straightening to make life easier and they are as follows:
    #1: A Blow Dryer
The blow dryer I use is non-branded and I can't even remember where the hell I got it from. It's cheap and only has one setting but gets the job done.
#2: A Hair Straightener or Iron
I use a GHD V-Opal Styler. GHD is a great brand of straightener alongside Cloud Nine Straighteners which I've also heard are great. They heat up super quick.
    #3: A Tail Comb
A Tail Comb comes in handy for sectioning and combing.
    #4: Ibis Clips
Over the years of trial and error, I've found ibis clips to be a hell of a lot more useful than a hair tie to hold my hair out of the way. An ibis clip makes sectioning from the back to the front a lot easier because it's you can pull each section out far easier with less fuss. Ibis clips are also cheap and can be found in drug stores and supermarkets.
oops! looks like I've run out of room in the description box so I've posted the rest of this text as a post on my website and you can find it here in the blog section: thomasinaction.com

Its good to finally see someone with a similar hair type as mine on youtube. It's frustrating to see people with already perfect hair making tutorials because we have struggles that they don't have.

My hair type is Exactly the same as his. As a kid i had really annoying curly frizzy hair, then in my late teenage years a actually got almost straight but then again couple of years ago lat puberty hit I guess and now it's big, wavy, fuzzy and coarse damnit. Sucks since my brother's got it straight now matter what he does. He can walk into a fk storm and it's still straight.

    • @thomasinaction
      @thomasinaction  7 років тому +2

Aoyagi heya! Yeah it can last up to 3 days for me sometimes. It all depends on what you go out and do. If I got all sweaty in the club I'd be giving it a wash the next day. But if I'm just chilled I can keep it going

    • @AoyagiAichou
      @AoyagiAichou 7 років тому +2

Hey, 3 days isn't bad. Then again, I have shoulder-length hair, or longer, so that might be different, heh. And also ugly receding hairline, so I might try it just for fun. Good to see it works just fine without that "chase method" meme, too, I just didn't expect so much prepping :) . Well, thanks again for the video.

if you use a finetoothcomb whilst straightening I find you get all those flyaway better and you don't need to go over it as much! as well as blow drying your hair with a brush(I like paddle brushes for longer hair or a bananabrush for medium length. also a round boarbristle brush would be great for the top plus it helps drag the natural oils from your scalp down the lenght of your hair PLUS you can do the finishing touches whilst drying on the sides by just dragging it along the sides with the fan blowing it back/down with the brush holding the hair in place)also, love the ghd it's a great brand!👌

You can probably save a lot of time and damage, by using a huge metal round brush, to blow dry it, in a nice way, drying downward, as you brush. It won't be as flat, but you can touch it up lightly, with the iron.

I don't really aim for the straight look because I am afraid to damage it so I go for the curly hair. I have been using Cantu Curling Cream. Could you do a product review on it? Since I like using it but unsure if there are better products out there.

SM SEMooR Once you've straightened your hair, water/moisture will undo it - e.g showering, rain, humidity, and over about a week it will undo anyway; this technique is more of a daily fix. If you want a more permanent solution you can always get it professionally straightened with the keratin method, however this can be quite pricey but will last a few months.

My hair from the top is about like 3 inches and my sides are like i think about 1 inch and whenever I straighten it, it gets kind of spiky and not that smooth. Is it because I have to grow my hair out a bit more and I use ion straightening cream.

I don't think these products are available in the UK, do you know of a good equivalent that is, or a channel from the UK that covers the same sort of stuff (hair care guys with longer hair) here you can recommend?

Is there not a way to have this last 3/4 months? Seems so extensive and time consuming for doing daily and I am always in a rush.

wouldnt it be easier to just put a relaxer in it...i know its not the best thing to do but seems alot easier than putting product after product everytime u do your hair.

You still have to put products in your hair when you use relaxers (trust me i know)
except instead of putting on the products before, you put them on after relaxing.

Why don't you try Keratin Hair treatment? It lasts up to 3 months so you don't have to go through that ritual every time.
