Howdy Simon- a most impressive repair job on the wind shield. I’ve never tried to do anything like that but you did it like a pro. Here in Arkansas the vehicle inspections have been done away with which is a good thing for the poor people who live on the country back roads that are certainly not kept up very well. Great job on everything. Hope you and Ms.Sarah have a great weekend. God bless
Hi Paul, do you mean there are no inspections for private light vehicles at all anymore? I am going to assume DOT inspections still apply for HGV's. I was wondering about that very thing because I watch a number of car guys who do the will it start and drive home and they never seem to mention any kind of inspection. Thank you my friend, take care.
Gee! Simon you have to be proud of your accomplishments especially the windscreen repair! Who would have thought of the bug catcher doing the trick……I have a small one, but sure as hell wouldn’t have thought of implementing it. Has done the job amazingly. Loved watching the repairs. Thank you😊😊. Kasper did his inspection and it looks like you get the green ticks😊😊😊. Love to you all ❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Thank you Anne, The screen has actually turned out better than it appears on camera so very pleased with that. The van has now passed inspection all except the new VIN number which with luck will be approved this week. I am now sick of working on the van and wish to move on. Kasper in my little star and has been so clever this week he amazes me all the time. We send our love by return. Thank you and have a great week.
@@arctic-rebel fabulous news the van passed inspection and this week will bring better news that the VIN was a success too😊! I can tell Kasper is you little boy…..so much love and fun they are indeed. Loves to all.❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Nice repair there young fella. Are used to fix windshields in the 70s and when I came across a long crack I would drill a small hole every once in a while and force the liquid into the hole and then push it along the crack with heat from a lighter on the other side, I’ve never seen anyone do it like you have done that as long as you get it into the crack, you have to get the air out with a lighter. I like the job you did on the bodywork no dust will get up in through there now with all that tar there.
Nice job on the windshield. I have also used that resin successfully. I also have rust issues here in Minnesota US. I have had really good luck with Fluid Film and Wool Wax. They are similar products. I use Fluid Film mostly. They stop the rust very well.
Thank you, we are a little short on good products to use here due to a tiny population and lack of stores. I have used Fluid Film on my 68 C10 in the UK and as you say great stuff. The black stuff will be ok for the van but would not use it on something I was restoring.
Snap SI mine failed yesterday (petrol filler pipe rusty) amongst other small things. I think they just want to get rid of old vehicles of the roads. Well done on your work , Also hope your fishing was fruitful 👍
Hi Ash, I replaced the filler pipe on the Toyota with Aluminum years ago to stop that and the Van has a rubber one which was very cheap and took 30 mins to install. The old ones are best and fail more often because they are old naturally. I personally will be moving to older vehicles in the future to avoid reliance on modern infrastructure. Have a great weekend, love to you and your Girls.
Well done Simon. I have learned to have glass coverage on my insurance. Cracks and chips can be fixed free of charge for some companys. Btw i thought i would see you burn a big hole in that fleece coat when welding the patches. Stay safe!
Always great to see you win from nowhere! Jep... needs must, as they say here... so, throwing good money after bad has had a positive result this time! Happy weekend... hope you can still get a line in the water! PS - There's a mail in your inbox for attention! Happy daze...
Windshield was a real kick in the pants as it were. Although we've all been there... nothing like a little scope creep. I'm actually shocked how well that repair kit worked. I've always had my chips filled by a window place assuming that the cheap way out was garbage. Clearly in this case I was mistaken.
Thank you, if I am honest the repair is better than I showed. Now days later I cannot see the cracks at all whilst driving and the inspector did not see them either. The winter will tell us if the resign can hold the glass together no more extreme place to try than here.
Hi 👋 Simon the welding rods your looking for would it be possible to order them for Canada 🇨🇦 ? Instead of the United States 🇺🇸 ? I wish you best of luck !
Hi, Yes I can get them almost anywhere except here. To import them then makes them really expensive. I am managing with this rubbish but the right rods make such a difference but I am only welding shit anyway so may as well use shit rods. Thanks

Another classic Simon solution. Awesome.
Very well done Sir, saved her for another year at least, stay safe.
Yes, thanks William.

Simon, without any creep, I enjoy hwat you do.
Nothing wrong with a bit of creep, I prefer the term admiration because that makes it ok. Thanks appreciate it.

Thank you, I have couple of those fleeces with burn holes in now but not that time. I would rather not be under their at all to be honest.
Cheers Simon.

Great jobs there.. try fixing your window from the inside... after all that's where it got chipped 😉🙂.. stay safe 🏴
The impact was on the inside but it was the outside sheet that cracked. Thanks
you are doing a great job 😊 sooner or later cars makes your money fly it is just a matter of time.
So true! Thank you

Your not the only one this stuff happens to, I promise.
Thanks, sometimes it feels like it though.
🤠👍
Thank you.
Is it possible that the crack is on the inside? Just wondering.
Insurance won’t pay at least a partial cost of the windshield?
Another task nicely done
Yes they do, it is a set amount, not even close to half the cost.
No. As you can see fixed or much better

You got that right! I dont know how I do it!
You MacGyver it Simon
You know that LOL Thank you Hans
Ford should be ashamed of themselves for the rust on that vehicle. Such a shame
It is not just Ford, the car before the van was so rusty it could not be fixed and that was a Toyoya! It is the quality of the steel.
Nothing worse than welding on rust !
Absolutely, always a dilemma of how far you chase it to get to good steel if you can call it that. I favor Tin.
