I remember seeing the demo version of this game in 1998 on my cousin's new PC. Love this game till this day, one of the most unique, memorable & fun game that I've ever played. New generation won't have the experience of beating a mission then discussion with friends how u beat the mission.

This game has what today games dont. They have very simple mechanics, and the work is in developing the levels to make interesting things to see and do............the formula is very simple, and they repeated it 20 times each one increasing in difficulty and fun (for example, having to manipule a tank in the last level is la creme della creme!). I liked how they increased all the good things for Commandos 2............Commandos 3 was ok but too short (I think 7 or 9 mission, compared to this 20). If you want a game which is a step up over Men of Courage, you should try Jagged Alliance: Back in Action or Crossfire..........real time strategy, but with the additive of RPG (seriously, the amount of weapons, the fact you customize and improve your mercenaries, the fact you can plan an attack strategy for multiple characters at once, I haven't played another game which made me so immerse as Commandos like this Jagged Alliance series). ua-cam.com/video/ZPUG-1YX80w/v-deo.html

How does it make sense that shooting the guy in front first doesn't faze the guy standing right behind him....but if you knife the back guy first...the guy standing in front is alerted. Odd....
It's from the different kinds of difficulties. Also the game works on rank of enemies. Since the general is better enemie, if you kill the soldier, he will be aware and fight back. Also, the harpoon is a silent weapon, same with the knife or the trap........this kind of walkthrough is only possible after you learn how the game works.............me personally, I always combine the noisemaker with the bear trap.......so when two soldiers go check it, one is killed by the trap, and then the other can be killed with the knife........
I'm watching this in 2020 on my note 10 plus and hoping that somehow this priceless classic is viable anew. What a nostalgic piece of gaming history. The best game ever !!!
A beautiful game that's timeless. Replaying it 20yrs later from when I first had it. The missions are still challenging but now going for full stars in all missions...how do u have so many time bombs???
I own commandos 2 on my ps2 which in my attic I put in hundreds of hours in back in the day. Recently Re pc £12.99 I bought the multi pack commandos games on steam. Stuck on this can’t figure out how to get onto the subs and a hate patrol groups hard to kill lol commandos 2 I love but these earlier games are tough!
after you know the "way" is plain easy to beat it without save. This game is one of the most "easy" to solve regarding strategy..........I would say he found a faster way to neutralize the squad and the barracks, nevertheless.
the game is available on STEAM for $5 each, or the 4 games for $15.........or you can find the COMMANDOS COLLECTION on CD on ebay for even less. The STEAM code on eBay is $3....... The torrent files are always having some problem or bugs or viruses. I got my COMMANDOS COLLECTION cd for $4. It's worth the money.
Every country removes the painted identification numbers (called the hull numbers) from ships, submarines, et cetera when participating in a war. The U-boats shown would therefore not still have numbers on them, as they would in peacetime. Failing to remove the numbers would be a series crime. I didn't actually change it at all, that's how long the range was back in 2013. I also played the Steam version at the time when I recorded these videos. But indeed I also noticed some months ago that the harpoon range is much shorter nowadays.
The original commandos has a short range harpoon.. the add on called beyond the call of duty 8 mission had a longer range...also I think this is on an easier mode as I distinctly remember having only 2 time bombs for the subs while u had 4...the harpoon range maybe longer
@@_ace786 I'm sure that It was indeed a shallow area - the subs were in dock, after all. :) But the U-Boats would most likely keel over due to structural damage from the explosion, flood and go under.

Select 3 of ur soldiers by clicking ctrl + clicking their pictures on top left corner. Once you're done selecting all 3 of them (the spy, the sapper and the driver), go near the mortar cannon (all 3 of u together). Then use the pistol and shoot the enemy sitting on the cannon. Thats how u kill them.

I've tried countless times to kill the guy with the mortar but to no avail. You just shot one of them with the pistol yet it doesn't work in mine.

With that armor car. Get enough close to that mortar gun .so that they can't fire you... Just click 4-5 time.. the mortar will blast..
