Organic may be expensive but it is worth investing . It is good for health, good for environment, above all fetches premium price in the market. Our people should not just grow but not how to market and have entrepreneurial skills. Going organic does not mean everything has to be manually done. Government should provide subsidy, training , and provide access to finances so that people can invest in machineries and equipment that can increase productivity and lower costs.
One of the best initiative taken by Bhutanese government. This is a good research presented, however, i do not agree 100%; dont weigh everything by monitory profits. She should do more research about the sustainability of organic farming. Better give some examples of biggest conventional farmers in North America, India, Oceania, and Africa. Talk a little bit about health of Bhutan. Maybe it will be a good research site for comparing health effects of conventional farming with organic farming.
Well done with the research. Its a good document. I do believe that to go 100 % organic would be quite a far sighted one but never the less we can achieve a part of 100, that itself will be a achievement.
@ Kesang Tshomo Misconception. Weeds are not detrimental to crops, They are helpful as they capture minerals to the soil and should naturally be alongside with crops for most efficient planting (yes it's a large claim). Do not use any non-organic chemical pesticides as that is what attracts pests. Once your soil, air and water are organic and clean, your crops will become naturally resistant and pest free. For soil: kelp, granite/basalt/magnetite, coconut husk mulch. Kelp has sea minerals (iodine) -best; Granite for its paramagnetic crop growth. For water use a product like Super Imploder by Dan Winters to structure the water. This combination will create largest and healthiest crops. To increase production while retaining plant minerals, use aquaponics. Grandpa Farm in Japan is nice example of Hydroponics for mass production.

Bhutanese should master the Permaculture since you have a well maintained forest.
Your products for export will be the most organic & purest for sure.
