I have a 35+ year old BG15, I bought new, still working, and just bought a 3000 BG. They are about the same size but my old one is about 14 /2 oz. Thanks for your time and effort to show the sizes.

i ordered a bg 3500 for my 7.6 ft fluke pole i use on the beach, upon opening the box i immediately put the reel on my 9 ft tsunami air wave and thats where it sits now. i ordered a 3000 and it's a fit on the 7.6. fairly heavy reels but exude confidence that anything you hook will lose the battle with you. these reels are aluminum and do not flex when fighting large fish. very smooth. i have a clash2 and a tsunami evict and these daiwas are in another league when working lures

Welcome Steve. Whipping in Hawaii means using artificial lures, casting and retrieving over and over. Lure can be on the surface, below the surface or even dragging on sandy bottoms. Thought it was a common term but now I'm enlightened. Not sure what they call that elsewhere. .... Thanks, Usefulgizmos

These bg sizes were really throwing me off I had to go to bass pro to see it for myself! It’s not like the penn battles where let’s say a 4k reel is the size you would actually expect but the bg reels are very beefy the 3k bg has 15.4 lb of drag compared to the penn battle with 15 lb of drag on a 4k size reel! I went with a bg 3k size it just fits my rod better than a 4k will and gives its the strength I’m looking for inshore fishing. The bail on the penn is more positive but the reeling on the bg was more smooth. Those two I’d recommend for someone willing to spend 100-$130 depending where u shop for an inshore do most type reel the penn battle and the bg. I own a 6k battle for jetties so having both id recommend them. Great video these reel sizes seriously are confusing.

Seeing the reel is essential pre purchase.

Nice view sir. I own a bg3000 and put 18lb braid with 0.18mm to reel. What rod to put sir? Does rod pe1-3 or 0.8-1.5 more suitable?

Hi Euryon. I'm not familiar with "feeder fishing" but from my handling of the BG3500 I think it's an excellent spinning reel for anything. It's just that its weight was more than I felt I could handle for long duration whipping. Have a great day! .... Usefulgizmos

Sorry but I only kept the 3000. Because I made the mistakes of buying the 2500 first (too small) and then bought the 3500 (too big and heavy), then the 3000 (just right), I decided to make this video to try to save others from making the same mistakes. I have 9 ft spin rod i have doubts between the daiwa BG 3000 and the 3500. i like to fish for bigger fish like small tuna. big amberjack what do you recommend? My Spinning Rod weighs 180 grams.

I can't find the box the reel came in so am not sure where the BG reels are made. But it doesn't make any difference for me since my reel works great every time I use it.

I only own the BG 3000 reel so am unable to give an experienced evaluation of the 5000 reel. But from my 3000 experience, I would suspect that the 5000 reel would be very good. Hello Azrie,I had returned the BG2500 before I received the BG3000. But I photoshopped the image and overlaid the body of the BG2500 (in green) over the body of the BG3000. (Picture below: I hope the picture shows up in this comment) The size of the 2500's body is very close to the size of the BG3000. Whether they are identical in size, I can't say for sure but they are so close in body size that I think the difference "in body size" is negligible. However, the difference in the overall sizes of the reels is substantial. The overall size of the 2500 was VERY noticeably smaller than the overall size of the 3000. ... Usefulgizmos
