I don't think I have ever left a UA-cam comment but this was the best, most straightforward video I could've asked for! Set up my sewing machine easily following this video. Thank you!!!
I am a 54 year old man who just bought my first sewing machine, the Brother XR9500PRW and I am so looking forward to making all of my old denim jeans fit. My grandmother was a master seamstress and I never learned from her. :(
I have this machine, have used it very little.. have kept it lint free..all of a sudden it does not want to sew… When I use pedal , machine kind of grinds, then I get E-5 or E-6 error code.. I have changed needle, re-threaded it , have done it over and over… what’s wrong?
@@SuperMcochran Those codes pertain to the machine not turning. The “grinding” could be several things, in this situation my first thought would be the belt popping as the motor pulley spun inside the cogs of the belt. Will the machine turn easily with the hand wheel? Need to check the belt, make sure it’s on properly and tight.
it's sooo light it's very convenient like that, however it's also very light, and I want to add bricks to it! I also recommend reading the book in it's entirety as well!
Never sewed before in my life. Tired of paying to have my pants hemmed to fit perfectly. So, I'm going to learn how to do it myself. Very good instruction for a first timer like me.
Thank You! I’m currently watching this waiting on my machine to arrive ☺️ I bought this one to replace the xr3240 I purchased at a thrift store. The thread spool was broken off, and the stitches are not coming out as pictured. I adjusted the tension, stick length, but it still comes out “wonky” The machine also gets stuck when doing a reverse stitch & it makes a scrubbing sound when I get to the end of the fabric. I thought I found a 💎 guess I wasn’t as lucky as I thought😀. You’ve gained a new sub! Thanks again for this video!
This video is very comprehensive and helped me set up my machine. But I'm trying to thread another bobbin and the thread keeps spooling under where you place the bobbin. I don't know how to prevent this or what's causing it.
I received this machine second hand, and as a result, there are some missing parts. Finding a replacement spool pin that folds in as you show in the video has been a challenge. Do you think I would be able to use a standard vertical spool pin, and place it on the bobbin winding slot instead? Thanks.
@@michelleproa8798 Bernette is Bernina’s lower line. Bernina is the best made machines on the market. I am not familiar with that specific machine but the Bernette’s I have worked on have been great quality. The XR9550 is in Brothers lower line. It is the higher end of their lower line but still their lower line. From what I know of both I would pick the Bernette myself.
Thank you. That was very clear, without being condescending! I don't know if you can help with my question, because it's about the Singer Classic Quilter SW240. This is a used machine, and I would like to use the foot pedal. However, when I plug it in, the machine doesn't work. Before I spend over $30 for a new pedal, am I missing something simple that needs to be selected to make it take over? The manual says if it is not plugged in, the buttons make the machine run. If it is plugged in, the pedal takes over.
Hello Rebecca, Thank you for your compliment I appreciate it. I am happy to be able to help. I don't believe SW240 is the model number on your singer I am unable to find any information on that number at all. From what I know of singer machines. When you plug the pedal in do the buttons still work? If the buttons still work when the pedal is plugged in then the jack that the pedal plugs into is probably broke and needs to be replaced. If the buttons do not work when the pedal is plugged in then either the pedal needs to be replaced or that is not the correct pedal for that machine. Without being able to see the machine that is my best guess from my experience with singer electronic machines. I hope that helps, thank you for watching and commenting.
@@sewingmachinetipsandtricks9079 Oh, my gosh! The machine is a SIMPLICITY, not a Singer. I'm so sorry. Ok, I plugged in the pedal. The buttons still work! You must be correct that it's the jack! Gosh, I'm relieved. This pedal is the one that is recommended for this machine. I opened it up, too, and didn't see anything broken, but it is electronic, so that's all I could do.
@@rebeccahatcher-kaiser225 Those electronic jacks are pretty delicate and it does not take much to damage them, sometimes just catching your foot on the cord when its plugged in will break the jack. I looked for a replacement jack for the Simplicity SW240 but did not find anything. Unfortunately you will probably be limited to only using the buttons or getting a new machine. At least now you know the problem. Thank you for watching the video and commenting.
Ty for the video… I have this machine and bought some bobbins from Temu, although they look very similar, I can see a slight difference, maybe only a cm, & it fits in bobbin area but wanted to know if I tried it, what to look for that it would not be compatible & if it is not, can I use the bobbin thread as if were a spool 🧵 and wind it to a brother bobbin?
I just received this machine for Christmas and I have followed every step, my machine is threaded and stitch set but my fabric is not moving..... what am I doing incorrectly please? I have been sewing since I was 16 now almost 60 and I feel silly cause I can't figure it out

Depende de lo que tenga de malo. Un técnico tendrá que mirarlo.
Depends on whats wrong with it. A technition will have to look at it.

Do I need a walking foot for quilting?
That depends on your quilt and how well it is feeding through your machine
Would you be able to sew leathers or furs on this?
No, it is a light duty sewing machine. commercial machines are the best choice for leather and fur.
Is there an automated thread cutter?
