I remember you talking about how busted Peja Stojakovic was on this game. You were right, I tried him out when I played this sometime ago and he is quite nuts.
Man I played this recently and I kinda found myself struggling to beat some of these games and I'm like this can't be the same game that I beat in two days at 8. Can't be lmao. Like it was one vs Jason Richardson where you had to win by bringing down the house and fouls weren't recorded, sounds easy but man J-Rich was playing fucking jail ball out there.
People forget you needed like $4 worth of coins (iirc, maybe it was $2) to play a full nba jam game in the arcade and if you're young enough you missed its console run it wouldn't really hit
You’re absolutely right about the care, character, and flare that those games back then had. There’s a lot of joyless entertainment out there today. I just want to have fun again.
Very surprised, pleasantly, that this game was a standout for Kofie. Truly a child of the '00s like myself, lol, between this and the NCAA Football games. The player models were really detailed. I have no idea how fun this game would be with two good players since a lot of the style moves could get countered (for example, by taking charges or "parrying" Act a Fool moves with the X button). Fun fact: speaking of 60 Minutes-style documentaries, NBA Ballers once featured on ESPN's Inside the Lines, hosted by Bob Ley. Unfortunately it was kind of a hit piece on Midway, questioning the role of violence and sex appeal in their licensed E-rated games. (This was before E10+ existed.) Also, the one drawback I'd note for the game is that the soundtrack is kinda bad in spots, especially compared to NBA Street V3's EA Trax.
When it came to arcade basketball games my favorites were NBA jam, NBA showtime, NBA street and Street Hoops. I probably didn't play NBA ballers because there was too much competition at the time.
The NBA Ballers series is goated. I got more memories with Phenom, but the first two were very similar games either way. Phenom was this game with a deeper story mode & more things to do in it. The story was cheesy, but it included Hot Sauce as the main antagonist. Chosen One had potential, but felt rushed.
NBA Jam on the 1990s was actually better than the ones made in the 2000s, so I understand the complaints. The SNES/Genesis had the best versions of that formula.
yeahhhhh ballers is underappreciated af. but have you ever played the anime basketball game One on One on the playstation? It's like ballers but more Tekken
My cousin and I liked to play with full chaos mode we called it; no fouling out, hard/pushing fouls legal, and goaltending legal, (so basically you can’t even take a jumper), so it essentially become a dunkfest where you hoped to be able to get off the dunk in time before you’re fouled/shoved mid air. It was a blast haha
Mannnn, these games were the BEST. NBA street 11-v3 and ballers were Soooooo good.i was in high school when this was out and I remember playing the shittttt out of it.
NBA Street Volume 2 was perfection
V3 is underrated too.
It clears ballers easily
Nah it’s properly rated lmaoo

NBA Live 2005.. I'm still playing it, 18 years later.
Peja Stojakovic is so broken on NBA Ballers. He would make half court shots constantly.
NBA the vol on PS2 was the shit
my favorite thing about nba ballers will always be that rasheed wallace is a hawk on this roster. one-game hawks legend.
ball dont lie
1:52 and it came with a cd of the soundtrack
i think nba street homecourt was underrated but def nba ballers was one of the best sports games i’ve played
Live 05 & 2k5 was the best basketball games from both companies
You just brought back so many memories from when I was a kid! Great vid
Why are these better than some of the secret base videos
Man I thought I was the only one that wasn't a huge fan of NBA Jam
Nba ballers phenom is my favorite
The career mode segment where you have to steal the ball from j kidd is treacherous 😅

The good ol days of basketball before it became all about who could get the most freethrows
NBA live use to be pure HEAT!
This game disappointed me as a kid. I remember renting it, & being sad that I wasted money.
nba ballers had me locked in for months
MyPark but fun
Amen
love the sports game videos. let’s go algorithm.
i watched flight play thru this whole game when i was like in 5th grade amazing game, even though i’ve never played it lmao
I own this game to this day. Forever a gem in my eyes….RIP Midway
People forget you needed like $4 worth of coins (iirc, maybe it was $2) to play a full nba jam game in the arcade and if you're young enough you missed its console run it wouldn't really hit
Im about play this on an emulator
Subbed

"Buy a friend to throw the ball to" at 6:42 is insane out of context lol

NBA Ballers was pretty aight
N! B! A! B-B-B-BALLAS!
When it came to arcade basketball games my favorites were NBA jam, NBA showtime, NBA street and Street Hoops. I probably didn't play NBA ballers because there was too much competition at the time.
Yes it was
i have nothing to contribute other than shout-out Kofie for being cool
Nene and Marcus Camby both were crazy on NBA Ballers
Can confirm, just recently replayed NBA Ballers and Nene was completely overpowered lmao. Like he was never that damn good at any point in the NBA.

Rushed is how I'll describe late midway games, they just were in fight or flight mode so they pumped out whatever they could with a notable IP
NBA Live 04 the GOAT
I remember NBA Ballers Phenom with Chauncey Billups‼️ That was my first experience with what the NBA even was back then 💀 good times
BALLERS!!!! YES!!!
NBA LIVE 2005
Very nice. I'm pretty sure I have NBA Jam on SNES, all the NFL Streets on ps2 and a few on Gamecube.
NBA Jam on the 1990s was actually better than the ones made in the 2000s, so I understand the complaints. The SNES/Genesis had the best versions of that formula.
still have my OG copy of Ballers, me and my friends used to play this and NFL Street for hours
yeahhhhh ballers is underappreciated af.
but have you ever played the anime basketball game One on One on the playstation? It's like ballers but more Tekken
I want the 2000s NBA video games back so it can be some competition against 2K sports
Bro you gotta do an ncaa 14 dynasty mode rebuild on your channel to get us hyped for the new game
NBA Street, NFL Street, and SSX tricky were my faves.
Sadly I never owned this one. My friend had it, but the copy was too scratched up as I remember.😵💫
Fye

love the video game videos
Is this the game Dave Chappelle was playing in that skit where he balled on that kid with cancer?
That was Street Hoops
🧢🧢 live was super trash especially 04,05,06,07....2k5 was way better than this
U ain’t even watch the video
