Had a friend bring over his controller because he said it wasn't turning on or maybe it wasn't charging. I connected it to my PC and tested it with DSX and it had the same problem + the PS button wasn't working either, so it made sense why he said it didn't turn on properly even though the battery was alright after testing it. I even checked my other working controller and all the buttons registered just fine. After disassembly and a thorough cleaning as you showed in the video, everything started working again. So thank you for that, you have been a great help and saved my friend around 70 Euros! Also, I just used a small amount of Isopropanol 99% (around 5-10 ml) as it evaporates very quickly and does the job just as well, so no need for a special cleaner.
Don't be intimated. I got better with electronics by consistently taking them apart and putting them back together. I think I have taken apart the N. Switch Pro Controller and PS5 Dualsense controller so many times that it's 2nd nature to me now.
Just take your time. Take numerous pictures during disassembly so you'll know how it goes back together. I fully rebuild game consoles. I just repaired my PSVR headset a week ago. Pay attention and closely study the assembly. Look up repair guides. It seriously helps.
Thank you so much man. You saved me from wasting a lot of money. You don't know how grateful I am to you for that. Keep up the good work, you're helping a lot of people.
I took a whim and decided to open my controller since my right face buttons werent working and i ended up fixing it. Q tip with alcohol and the disassembly and reassembly were very easy and i didnt have to send my controller in to sony. This video is great for those who dont mind taking the risk in diy ⚡️
Hello there , this morning my R2 wasn't working so I thought "oh boi new controller" but then I searched it up if there was a way to fix & luckily I found your video. Not only did your video help me take apart my controller for the first time ever , it helped me fix my R2 ,my previous stick drifts. I wanna take this time to thank you for your help & saving me money. Thank you for having our back ❤
You saved me BIG TIME! I have 4 cats and i had a fur blocking the strip contact in the back of the board, so my Triangle wasnt working. You were the only one to tell us to check there. MVP!
I genuinely did not think this would work because I didn’t have the cleaning stuff you did… but when I put it back together after letting it just breath with all the parts off, it works!! 🙌🏻 thank you!
IDK what was wrong with my controller but i dropped it at some point and the right D-pad button stopped working. Cleaning it didn't do a thing so i took it apart using your guide and cleaned the pads and membrane with alcohol and a Q-tip. Put it all back together and it works like new. Thanks. Definitely better than wasting $70 on a new one.
Dude.... thank you so much!!!!!!! It worked, I lost controls to the right half, and I followed your video, snapped her all back together, and BAM! thank you so much, awesome content. You're a lifesaver!
My dualsense react X button and play button simultaneously, I clean ed the circuit board but it didn’t work, and then your tutorial mention the connection between the circuit board and the motherboard 3:40 , I cleaned it and it worked! Very helpful!
This was a fantastic video. I did end up tearing the bottom wire because it a too tight on the circuit board so my mic doesn’t work anymore. But d pass and buttons work now and functions normally. Thank you so much
I didn't think it would work but after trying everything else, this actually worked and it wasn't hard at all thanks to your detailed explanation! Thanks Big time Bro!
So i bought a brand new controller, and the up button on the d pad wasnt working. I followed the video, realized, after taking everything apart i didnt have what i needed to clean it, and just put it back together. Idk what i did, but everything works as it should now. So thanks for at least showing me how to take it apart
Thank you soooooo much! My issue wasn't that it was dirty but that when I dropped the controller it popped off. Placed it back on air dusted it and voila!
Once you get to 1:55 , you just squeeze the controller in the Dpad area so that the Dpad connections can stick to the motherboard. U didn’t have to take out the battery and all that stuff.
So my controlled had an issue with the up button on the d pad. And watching this video made me realize that I might mess my controller so I did a trick to fix it quick and it worked. I blew into the up button d pad and it work. Wanted to mention it for anyone that wants to quick fix. Might not work for u but maybe it will like me.
You rock. I had all dpad directions and △ O X ◻ all unresponsive suddenly. Other videos showed me about cleaning the contacts on each button, but they did not show me about cleaning the contact that connected them all to the board. Cleaning each individual contact did nothing. Cleaning the one that linked them all to the board did the trick. Thank you so much!
Awesome breakdown, I just found you, my sons ps5 controller everything worked exactly like this video the D-Pad and the buttons, I’m going to watch this again and do it tomorrow, wish me luck, only thing is this not the only problem, the ps5 didn’t read the disc, do you happen to have a video on how to fix that part. It takes the disc but it doesn’t read it. Thank you
I got scammed on Facebook Marketplace; I bought a controller and it had this issue. Following your guide I managed to get it fixed though, you’re a legend man. In mine, looks like a hair got between the connection points to the buttons.
Dropped mine this morning and both the d-pad and buttons stopped working. Followed this and was fixed within 30mins. Dust lodged between strip and motherboard connection
As you have been fixing these ps5 controllers I noticed that Sony only spent dimes on the haptics but not on the overall built of their controllers. Everything looks cheap asf but I can't deny how much they spent for the haptics technology for these controllers.
thanks so so much u saved me 60 bucks.. I thought for sure the drop killed my wifes triangle button. but this video helped me to fix it I hoped it needed just a cleaning. and bam fixed.
I’ve had this problem with one of the buttons on my mine. I opened it and cleaned the contacts with iso and it was working again A few months later the same button stopped working and now L1 doesn’t work anymore I just opened it back up and cleaned the connections between the game pad and MB and the same contact for good measure. I also made sure the ribbons were put in correctly cuz I think that’s what connects the triggers to the MB and they both still aren’t working Is iso bad to use for this or do you think something else is wrong
The X button on my DSense works on normal pressing but sometimes it doesn't when I press it lightly(like when you are relaxed playing). I wonder if I should open it since the console it's on warranty.
If it’s under warranty, I would do a replacement because if you open it, the warranty will be voided it’s most likely the connection is loose and you need to adjust the rubber button with the flux connection point
Thank you very much. I had a problem with all the buttons on the left side of the controller, and I hit the side until it returned to work and everything was fine. 😂😂
I have a question kind of relating to this . I bought the extremerate clicky triggers and after install my L2 and L1 don’t work and I’m not sure why that is could you possibly know why that is? I appreciate any reply
Make sure that the Kit you bought for the triggers is compatible with the generation controller you have. For instance BDM 010/020 are compatible with one version. 030 other version. and 040 kit is not available yet.
I legitimately dropped my controller like 4-5 times and one of the buttons just stopped working for no reason. (Down on the D-pad) Literally in the middle of gameplay too. With the ps4 controller, I dropped it like 432 times and Literally no problems. Playstation needs to make thier controllers either cheaper based on how easy they are to break, Or they need go make them less cheaply made.
@@arnemariusholter5903 The fix is buying a $70 controller because playstation is too lazy to make their controllers with better materials than ones found in the literal dumpster
Hey, I dropped my controller on accident and my options button is now jammed downwards, so it never comes up. Can anyone please help? I haven’t found a single guide.
What if the joy sticks are non responsive? I did replace the potentiometers on one of them because of drift, and when I put everything together, they were not responding. The d pad also stopped working.
I would double check all the ribbon cables are connected properly and are intact. If you were soldering it could be you damage some of the tracks on the board and now there is no power. It could be a lot of different things, I usually test the controller while I am fixing it through something like gamepad tester to ensure all is working properly
@@TheGamer2Know thank you for your reply. I actually didn’t replace the entire potentiometer, just the little metal inside (wiper?), so I didn’t have to solder anything (then I would mess something up for sure lol).
@Gamer2Know I manage to use some hand sanitizer and low and behold it worked . I just manged to find some debri on where the pad stripper makes cotton . Clean it and solved my problem .so thanx for the advise . I'm pleased I didn't have to cough up money to buy a new one !
My x button and down on dpad both stopped working at the same time. I read give the controller a good smack and it might work. I did. It fixed my x button but d pad is still fucked and now one of my triggers doesnt work as well after spraying it down with air duster.
