As a performer who the entire festival is about he had some power to control that crowd when he saw people passing out...performers, they wear earpieces where they are alerted of what's going on. People came on stage telling him he continued and fans were chanting stop the show. This guy has ZERO excuses. Ambulances were trying to make way & he did nothing this guy displayed zero empathy for human beings and it's disgusting.

I agree. I've been to so many concerts (over 50) and artists can and DO get on the crowd and tell them to stop when things are getting out of control. I've personally experienced it and I've been to all the big heavy metal/alternative acts where there is moshing going on. The difference is when I went to those concerts and somebody fell down, there were three hands of people helping them up immediately. What changed?

imagine being the performer, when hundreds of people are getting hurt and 8 people died. You dont think that he would have a hard time processing it that as well? Like Michael Ross said, everyone greaves in a different way. Definitely not defending him, because he could have done more to stop the crush. Similar to how linkn park has done in the past, and many other groups (stopping the song to make sure attendees were safe).

I think it’s because there’s more a sense of community and respect as opposed to today’s rap it’s all “Me-Me-Me” filled with narcissistic greed and anger...pure selfishness.

There's definitely blame to go around. The fans wildin out contributed, but I don't put most of the blame on them tbh. So the way the stage was set up the rails on the side were narrower the closer you got to the stage. So basically the people in front are getting squeezed into a funnel. Also it was just Travis doing the one set. Every music festival I've ever been to there's always at least two sets going at a time. That's how you control the crowd. I've been to a festival 450k people all in one place, but there were 8 stages so everybody's spread out. What you don't want is everybody moving in the same direction at once. I think if they had fixed that stuff maybe no one would've died.
People being famous isn't the reason people in the crowd dies. Venue securtiy is at fault, not the performer. None of this would have happened if safety was maintained.

I was at a concert once, and the band kept playing through a rain storm and after about 5 loud lightning strikes the manager ushered the singer off stage. This isnt political where you can blame the frontman for everything, like they did the presidents. Its deeper than that and first responders should have radioed the management team, and venue staff and shut it down.

There’s video footage of individuals begging people in control of the event to stop the music and stop the show and indicating the individuals who were convulsing and the event staff more or less told them to shut up and step back while Travis continued to sing his ignorant mind warping songs.

Deeply sorry for you all. My late husband was a professional musician. When he came on stage surges would just naturally happen, (if not in a seated area.) I was in a crowd of 30000, once. Not even packed like sardines but the crowd surged and I was moved 10 or 20 feet instantly, then I was okay...minus my shoes. I was very near the back, too.
Since then, security and crowd control safety measures have greatly improved. Clearly something was seriously amiss on that dreadful night.

Its The Who concert ALL OVER AGAIN. 1979, Cincinnati, OH. Eleven kids crushed to death. But that happened OUTSIDE the venue. This Houston concert should have IMMEDIATELY been stopped!!! I've wondered if he should of hosted Astroworld in the Texans stadium instead? With nobody allowed on the actual field. And have the actual carnival/activities outside the stadium. Also way better security to get inside the stadium making it almost impossible for non ticket people to get in.

I was there and before I got in, I tied my shoelaces as hard as I could because I knew how big the crowd would get once Travis comes out and once I noticed how bad it was getting, I couldn’t find an exit out the big ass crowd, I was sweating a lot, my head was hurting because of the pows to head I kept getting by people bumping into me and with everyone packed together I lost a friend I was with but because she was short she kept on getting pushed back down but I managed to get her out since she couldn’t see above her. Shit was fucking crazy I think that’ll be the last concert I would go to
Sooo sad and sickening to see this is happening today. We need to care about each other and look out for one another's safety when attending events like this. The concert should have NEVER taken place when the crowd stampeded the barricades earlier that day. From past videos I saw of this performer's concerts, this is how he prefers to run his concerts and has no care for the audience safety, he has been arrested multiple times for that. A responsible performer would have stopped the concert after noticing the young man being carried away and asking the crowd how everyone was doing. He also could have stopped when the ambulance was trying to get through the crowd, flashing their lights. SMH! Can someone tell me why the police did not run on stage and stop it?! Disgusting! I will continue to pray for everyone and I hope those who are in the hospital get well and home soon.
