I like old fire emblem and modern fire emblem, but I definitely feel like map design and fun objectives and side objectives were massively overlooked in three houses. Like on of my favorite parts in vesteria saga is when you have to avoid killing any skeletons to get extra stuff from the villagers. That is way more interesting and challenging than "oh no, theres a thief programmed to attack this village and you gotta beat him there!"
I'm with you on the general idea, but personally, the map objectives in The Siege of Harral are probably the clear winner for me - the ability to approach a monstrously fortified position by using side objectives to systematically kick out the support pillars holding the defense together was just the perfect expression of the lunatic Rube Goldberg Machine feel the game gave me on all its most fiddly maps.
Potentially one of the most underrated Fire Emblem games to date. If you can get past the limitations inherit from the game engine, the story is extremely charming with great dialogue if a little bloated. Since growth rates are low in this game, none of the maps are made around it, focusing more on weapon utilization and proper positioning. The only downsides are that its questionable if the entirety of the story will ever come out considering Kaga's age and this being a passion project made with a small team
I might give this game a try because of this review. I like gameplay and narrative over presentation, though the constant resets might drive nuts, hahaha.
I enjoyed the game. I dont have the stamina for multiple chapters even spanning days but I got like 3 maps into the plain dweller section and its pretty good so far... Took me over a year to nut up and play past the bandit cave though.
Love this game and its sequel, hate how Dangen handled the ports. The translation is great, but as someone who has been working in localization for quite a few years at this point, I assure you - that price point does not reflect the wages of their localizers. Dangen has a history of doing shady shit in general (look up their history with the Fight Knight and Devil Engine devs and the statements several of their former employees made about working at the company for examples) and the fact that they are not disclosing how they handle the financial aspect of such an out-of-the-norm project while providing what is 100 percent an at best incomplete rationale for their pricing makes me assume the worst.
the one thing i hate about this game is that when you get stuck, you kinda have to figure it out yourself since there's no guides or youtube channels that actually covered the full game. call me a casual yes, i like figuring out stuff myself, but oh boy it'd be nice to have a dedicated fansite to help with some of the more obtuse things
@@RocketSlime i can assure you serenes did not have any information on this game a year or two ago when i made this comment, they were very slow on giving any focus on kaga's thing due to being more focused on Heroes and Houses.
Me 5 Months ago: "Should I sub to this person? This Lucina video seems well thought-out, but i have no interest in character analysis or 3DS FE." Me after finishing this video: "Stonks."
I can't get past how awful the animations look. I'm completely fine with graphics that aren't realistic or top tier, but the frame rate is horrid, it's worse than the first fire emblem ever made, 32 years ago...
@@detectiveoftheeast8378 Yes but it's an explanation. not a valid excuse or reason. They're selling it for like 20$ when it's worse than most Fire Emblem hacks/mods.
@supergoodadvice853 He literally is an indie dev now. Just because he once worked at a big company doesn't mean he continues to have the resources to make a professional completely polished game. Like yeah game dev experience is something but the old FE games were still made with a much larger team with various areas of expertise.

reminds me of getting the member card in Thracia 776 just without the xaivier recruitment in the same chapter

“Made me rage one moment and having my time the next” shozo kagas games tend to do that. He’s an absolute gem when it comes to making games.
Weapon Ranks were a stat with growth rates back in FE1/FE3 too
U deserve so much more subs man!!! Love your content
