I'm digging all the non-Jay content this week. Not that I'm sick of Jay or anything, it is just nice to see everyone else taking a more direct role in the content.
I feel you! Jay is why I subbed to this channel. Although I thoroughly enjoy both Phil and Nick make amazing hosts and I can't really complain when they do because they do a great job! Good stuff guys, if you can maybe do a video about intel arc? like specifically against my 1080ti. is it time to upgrade to intel or wait till the 50series?
I got one with a Ryzen 7840HS and the RTX 4070. Same experience as you, I've thrown the most resource intensive games and it's absolutely demolished all of them. It's insane that we're carrying that much power around LOL
I’m digging the Phil and Nick content! Jay is an incredible host and clearly why most of us are here but Phil and Nick have great personalities as well that you can see without seeing behind the camera so it’s great to see them in front of the lens for a change. It would be awesome to see them with their own short series about something they’re passionate about in the tech community.
If you did battery testing with G-Sync on - you were preventing the discrete GPU from shutting off to save power. That's why G-Sync shouldn't be enabled globally. I believe you should be able to enable it on a per-game basis using the 3d settings per game tab in the nvidia control panel.
HAHAHA 'But I digress'!! AMAZING!! Guys I'm loving having the team present, this is so fresh and enjoyable, because all of you have such a great screen presence. Keep it up, this is bloody awesome!
I love Phil videos. Also Phil. bro... You could totally pull off shaving your head and keeping the goatee. Put on a Karate robe, and we have Tech Miyagi! We NEED Tech Miyagi!
"It's great to see this kinda performance in a laptop" someone tell the guy that last year's 3070 ti performed exactly the same. At least in mid-range laptops like Legion 5 or MSI GP series.
Always love having Phil and/or Nick getting some screen time! I hate to say it, but the VRAM is unfortunately too low. To be clear, this isn't a dig at this laptop or Origin, it's nVidia and AMD's choice for this generation (It affects the upcoming Radeon 7600M XT & 7700S as well unlike their desktop counterparts). 8GB just isn't going to be enough for newer and upcoming titles, even at 1440p. Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi Survivor are the beginning of this trend, not the exceptions, so I worry for the longevity that this generation of mobile GPUs will have. While I've been interested in upgrading my slowly deteriorating RTX 2070 mobile system, I'm going to (hopefully) wait out the next generation of mobile GPUs to sort this stuff out. If we're lucky, maybe we'll get a mid-gen refresh like Ti or Super variants that'll have 12GB or more of VRAM, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah that is one of the reasons why I didn't go with a Laptop that uses a GPU that has 8gb of vRAM because of it starting to be long in the tooth. I have seen benchmarks of the Last of Us before the patches even happened and 8GB cards were struggling to run that. Granted that version of the game back then was an unoptimized mess. I ordered an Origin PC Eon-17X gaming laptop from 2021 that has a Desktop 11700K and a laptop 3080. Yeah the CPU is 2 years old but it is still serviceable as I am coming from a 7700HQ and a Laptop GTX 1060 6gb which served me well for close to 6 years now.
I like thicktops instead of the ultra thins due to usually having better cooler and even the audio tends to be better as not everyone likes headphones. Bring back the mxm slot for all the usual reasons.
I love to see these breakdowns! I wish I could see them on a mass scale with all these laptops out. So many choices but they all seem lacking. This helps find the equivalents.
Jay, you are awesome but seeing Nic and Phil a bit more is welcomed. I hope all is well with you Jay. Phil will digress until he becomes PhilzTwoCents.
I miss when JayzTwoCents did silly stuff like daisy chaining radiators together, i wish he would daisy chain 2 Mo-ra3 420 radiators each with 2 D5 pumps in single loop to see how far you can get down a liquid devil 7900 XTX edge and hotspot temps at 24,5c ambient, totally not asking Jay to test stuff for me to see if its worth it :)
Jay got a complete makeover? He seems so small and looks way different, lol. Good to see Phil getting some screen time besides occasional appearances :D
Solid review, I'm just not sure what the "Thin-N-Light" in the thumbnail refers to, because that thing is only thin and light if you compare it to a Compaq Portable.
Oh no! Does Phil need an “I digress” jar now?!?! Great job on the video Phil, except for the 48MHz ram and trying to to into Jay. lol But seriously, great job Phil!
Definitely more Nick and Phil in the videos please. It adds alot of diversity and various options and thoughts to the channel and considering you are all 3 tech junkies like myself and many others aswell as consumers it makes for great watching.
PHIL ME UP with this content! I don't use a laptop, so I want to ask those who do: is the DPI for 1080p on a 15-17" screen that bad? I'm constantly surprised that these necessarily underpowered/throttled laptop GPUs and CPUs try to push 1440p or even 4K.
can a 4070 run the heaviest titles at 2k (upscaled) 60fps+ ultra with dlss3 and frame gen (all help available)? I don't wanna spend up for a 4080 if the above criteria is met, or a 4080 is really required?
Please talk about the nvidia locking out all 140W laptops at 100W level performance as a 140W laptop will perform the same as 100W laptop, and this is misleading as laptops that claim 140W Domt actually benefit from the performance boost
Yaaaaay Phil !!!! Great video man, hope we see more of you in future videos. I mean more videos with you in them, not MORE of you....keep the shirt on dude
He says he doesn't want to turn into Jay. But when watching this video all I could see is Jay Similarities haha. 🤣 great video though! Phil did awesome with the information.

Awesome video Phil. Just look at the camera more while speaking. You look at Nick and everywhere else around the camera more than at the actual camera.
I think you're giving the Intel chip a lot of grace here. (As far as I know) it's very rare nowadays that laptops actually lie about battery specifications; meanwhile plenty of Alder+Raptor Lake mobile chips have had downright bad battery life, even with 90 or 99Wh batteries.
I use to be a huge Origin fan... I have a 17x and I bought a cheaper one for my... RMA on my 17x since it was DOA, 2 weeks. Origin included a keyboard and mouse for the inconvenience. Really enjoying seeing more hosts and am very very glad that you haven’t borrowed Linus’ “Generic white guy host” cloning machine and have some actual diversity and different personalities hosting!
Would you guys test the Asus Zephyrus laptops? I've had a G14 for the last 2 years and its still pretty sweet. I'm curious to see what you think of the newest version.
Is Jay ill or something, or perhaps on vacation? I still like the videos that Nic and Phil creates. Well done! I was just wondering. (Sorry for the background music "complaint", It was a background tab in my browser that had woken up and was loud, so ignore that...)

Jay looks different today. 🤔 Must be a new lens or something
it's the glasses
It's the chair, higher back making him look smaller 😂
He dyed his hair.
No I think he shaved

Great review. Nice to see your crew can Phil-in for you.

😂

Really odd lol, fast for a 486 but slow for a Pentium machine of the same era but would be rounded to an even 50mhz in both cases.
"... but I digress. AAAH! IT'S HAPPENING!" That legit made me laugh. Also, nice to see Phil in front of the camera again.
i was just waiting for it to happen haha
I bought a Lenovo Legion 7i pro with an i9 and rtx 4070.
It literally demolishes everything I've thrown at it.
Couldn't be happier with my purchase 😁
I got one with a Ryzen 7840HS and the RTX 4070. Same experience as you, I've thrown the most resource intensive games and it's absolutely demolished all of them.
It's insane that we're carrying that much power around LOL
About time we get more Phil. Hope the health issues alluded to in previous episodes isnt too serious.

10:36 Phill mentioned disabling Nvidia GPU if you missed it
Im loving this trend of putting the behind-the-camera talent on-screen!
48mhz RAM? Wow the speeds we are getting now are insane
That's what she said
And keep in mind that's the SLOWEST it can go, it's the base speed.
Odd even for the early 1990s as it would be rounded to an even 50mhz which would be fast for a 486 but slow for a Pentium class machine of the era.
HAHAHA 'But I digress'!! AMAZING!! Guys I'm loving having the team present, this is so fresh and enjoyable, because all of you have such a great screen presence. Keep it up, this is bloody awesome!
