- A video of the modded GameBoy Color I put together. The only way to play a GBC.
Parts consist of FunnyPlaying 2.0 Q5 XL Laminated IPS screen Kit (V2.6 ribbon cable), FunnyPlaying Q5 Clear Black Shell + Clear Black Buttons, FunnyPlaying Clear Speaker, Wire-less Amplifier, CleanPower GBC Regulator, FroggoCustom Power Indicator LED(Blue When Full, Red When Low), and FunnyPlaying Lipo Rechargeable Battery(2000MaH) using the stock DC jack so no cutting involved.
Parts came from Hand Held Legend, Retro Modding, and Retro Game Repair Shop.

I built almost the same GBC. Same shell, but with black buttons, same laminated screen, same AC port mod. I used Helder's voltage regulator though. I tested it at 50% brightness and let dkong94 original cart run in it and it lasted 17 hours before the red low battery light came on!

That speaker is so loud compared to the OEM GBC speaker.
Yeap. I upgraded and add the amp to all my GBA and GBC handhelds. I can't stand the OEM speakers as they're too low for me. Very nice upgrades.
Hi, how's the quality of the transparent/clear shell and plastic button of the Hispeedo OLED package? Are the plastics good quality? ALso which transparent shell is the most stunning from Hispeedo? The clear royal blue, clear green, clear purple, clear light blue or another transparent color from Hispeedo?

Do you solder the Flex Amp below or on top of the LiPo Mod PCB??
I’m trying to do this exact mod but I can’t seem to get it right. I put the Clean Power where the OG Regulator was, Installed the Flex Amp and the Funny Playing LiPo Battery mod and my GBC still doesn’t turn on. Any tips?
You did you double check if the wires going to and from the F1 fuse to the lipo board is correct?
@@gamefreak0597 yes I did. Did you add solder to the points on the backside of the Gameboy Color where the LiPo battery mod goes? I’m talking about the points aside from the 3 solder points on the LiPo board?
Looks great! Can I use the factory speaker with the wire free amp or do you need to purchase a new one?
I believe you can but it won't sound that great, because these amps are pretty darn loud. Lol. And those FunnyPlaying speakers are cheap. So it doesn't hurt to upgrade.
@@gamefreak0597 update just install the amp mod. Got the wrong speaker size and ended up using the factory speaker. Agree its very noisy and not a clean sound. But overall great purchase! I'll have to order the right size
@@jwplays405 Nice! Easy and cheap to do. It's always one of my first and must thing to do when it comes to modding a GBC/GBA. Need that amp and speaker upgrade. Lol. You won't be disappointed with the volume. I also have a 680UF capacitor installed on my other clear housing Q5 XL IPS screen GBC just to help filter out those unwanted hiss/hum noise. But I'm sure the CleanPower GBC Regulator cleans out some of them too which is why I don't hear any at all on both my modded GBCs.

very nice mod i would love to see also a led kit for the buttons and it would be 10/10. the clean power regulator shouldent be from the back side of the pcb?
A button LED kit would be cool, but I just wanted to keep mine plain and simple like how it would've came from Nintendo, if they were ever to produce it this way back in the day. :)
For the CleanPower regulator, it's made to go on the backside, yes. But you won't need the stock regulator anymore if you don't plan to go back to a stock screen; therefore, it can be remove for good. Reason I have it in the front is, because I'm also running the FunnyPlaying Lipo rechargeable battery mod which has its own PCB board that needs to go on the back side where the CleanPower regulator would suppose to go. So I can't have both on the back side, and I want to be able to recharge my GBCs. Works great! Overall, I think this looks way cleaner over the stock regulator. :)
Man I don't know what to do. It's so contradicting how to install. I have laminated Q5 V2.0 Funny Playing IPS. Do or don't I leave the original regulator???
It's an option for you. It's not required to replace the original regulator. The original one will still work with the Q5 V2.0 screen. So no worries for you. IF you replaced the original regulator, the stock screen will NOT work. Thats all to it.

@@albey1234 I do want to offer this to people out there as long as they send me their cartridge, but not sure if it'll be worth the shipping though. I can do shiny Mewtwo and Shiny Mew in this game.
If your Australian based id be keen on that service that way not sending a cartridge halfway around the world if not reckon I could get the code off you I'll just dump my cart and rom and do it on an emulator and reflash my save
