    13:50 Pliny was a persecutor of Christians??! I never knew that about him before! I always learn something new each time I view one of Dr. H'stalks. Thanks for this

      Pliny the Younger to the Emperor Trajan
      It is my practice, my lord, to refer to you all matters concerning which I am in doubt. For who can better give guidance to my hesitation or inform my ignorance? I have never participated in trials of Christians. I therefore do not know what offenses it is the practice to punish or investigate, and to what extent. And I have been not a little hesitant as to whether there should be any distinction on account of age or no difference between the very young and the more mature; whether pardon is to be granted for repentance, or, if a man has once been a Christian, it does him no good to have ceased to be one; whether the name itself, even without offenses, or only the offenses associated with the name are to be punished.
      Meanwhile, in the case of those who were denounced to me as Christians, I have observed the following procedure: I interrogated these as to whether they were Christians; those who confessed I interrogated a second and a third time, threatening them with punishment; those who persisted I ordered executed. For I had no doubt that, whatever the nature of their creed, stubbornness and inflexible obstinacy surely deserve to be punished. There were others possessed of the same folly; but because they were Roman citizens, I signed an order for them to be transferred to Rome.
      Soon accusations spread, as usually happens, because of the proceedings going on, and several incidents occurred. An anonymous document was published containing the names of many persons. Those who denied that they were or had been Christians, when they invoked the gods in words dictated by me, offered prayer with incense and wine to your image, which I had ordered to be brought for this purpose together with statues of the gods, and moreover cursed Christ--none of which those who are really Christians, it is said, can be forced to do--these I thought should be discharged. Others named by the informer declared that they were Christians, but then denied it, asserting that they had been but had ceased to be, some three years before, others many years, some as much as twenty-five years. They all worshipped your image and the statues of the gods, and cursed Christ.
      They asserted, however, that the sum and substance of their fault or error had been that they were accustomed to meet on a fixed day before dawn and sing responsively a hymn to Christ as to a god, and to bind themselves by oath, not to some crime, but not to commit fraud, theft, or adultery, not falsify their trust, nor to refuse to return a trust when called upon to do so. When this was over, it was their custom to depart and to assemble again to partake of food--but ordinary and innocent food. Even this, they affirmed, they had ceased to do after my edict by which, in accordance with your instructions, I had forbidden political associations. Accordingly, I judged it all the more necessary to find out what the truth was by torturing two female slaves who were called deaconesses. But I discovered nothing else but depraved, excessive superstition.
      I therefore postponed the investigation and hastened to consult you. For the matter seemed to me to warrant consulting you, especially because of the number involved. For many persons of every age, every rank, and also of both sexes are and will be endangered. For the contagion of this superstition has spread not only to the cities but also to the villages and farms. But it seems possible to check and cure it. It is certainly quite clear that the temples, which had been almost deserted, have begun to be frequented, that the established religious rites, long neglected, are being resumed, and that from everywhere sacrificial animals are coming, for which until now very few purchasers could be found. Hence it is easy to imagine what a multitude of people can be reformed if an opportunity for repentance is afforded.
      Trajan to Pliny the Younger
      You observed proper procedure, my dear Pliny, in sifting the cases of those who had been denounced to you as Christians. For it is not possible to lay down any general rule to serve as a kind of fixed standard. They are not to be sought out; if they are denounced and proved guilty, they are to be punished, with this reservation, that whoever denies that he is a Christian and really proves it--that is, by worshiping our gods--even though he was under suspicion in the past, shall obtain pardon through repentance. But anonymously posted accusations ought to have no place in any prosecution. For this is both a dangerous kind of precedent and out of keeping with the spirit of our age

      Yusuf "depraved, excessive superstition." Made me shudder. I'm doing so again now. Wow. That's horrid. Thanks for sharing what he wrote to Trajan. I've encountered a number of atheists who've had the same kinds of things to say, just with different wording.

      This is an account from 1800 years ago where Pliny questions, Tortures then executes 2 deaconesses. If you are a believer than why not rejoice in their martyrdom? Pliny and Tacitus were evil men but those two deaconesses get commemorated every year in every country

    What I want to know is what happened between Acts and the council of Nicea. A real problem here is the lack of a real dating system. It's not like we couldnt have counted time since Adam or Noah but for some reason we didnt. I seriously doubt there is a good reason. Judiaism and Christianity can reasonably be considered dead by Nicea or within 100 years after it. Catholocism polluted Chritianity , it certainly didn't make it better or even look any better. At this point, we should probably have a look into Fomenko and what he had to say about the history that we are taught. We have serious problems and all this rhetoric that's been passed off on to us isn't going to cut it for much longer. Circle the wagons but Christianity is being watered down instead of concentrated.

    • @locyfelix

      +Veronica Daze You could read some books about the past century. That is to say that, many centuries later, an all-powerful empire emerged in human history, reputedly the largest so far known to mankind. The throne there did away with replacement theology, and officially revived the Jewish state by making a covenant with those people and sending many troops. Thus, the three-part Godhead truly emerged in accordance with the doctrine Constantine's council wrote about, but the reality from that doctrine came only in the past century.

      You mean Constantine, the first ruler in history to issue a complete toleration of all religions as well as ending decimation? Constantine was one of history's greatest men but silly white fundamentalist Christians like yourself always seem to lose your shit over him.

      Cristero Warrior, do you call yourself a Christian? because when I see fundamentalist I get worried. Only idolators,skeptics and atheist use that term for real born again Christians that don't compromise their faith for the opinions of men. Or are you a liberal or Luke-warm Christian whom doesn't read the bible and fall for anything or any nonsense that skeptics, cultist and atheist fall for? Or do you just suppress the truth in your own unrighteousness? Are you trying to say all religions are the same? I don't understand your post or where you stand. please clarify

    These videos are very interesting especially of the view of different persons of God in the old testament that was known and talked about before the coming of Jesus but after was made to be a heresy, them old testament passages and there is many we all should read and study more in death because this is something you never hear about and apologies as well as the debates on a Triune God.

      These are not persons of God in the Old Testament, this is poetic ways of describing his Wisdom Word Command and his Name also His power Spirit His Angels this isn't different persons of Yahweh all bundled into One Godly purpose but multiple Gods, this is Greek Hellenistic Jewish converts Interpretation of God using Greek Mythology like their belief in their Pagan Logos a different Entity along with Yahweh in Jesus Christ, then comes their Pagan Trinity introduced into Judaism.
      Yahweh explains everything in the scriptures, so you don't get confused when Human Beings alter his teachings and changed His Words.
      Like The Targums where your Trinity comes from, the Word, but they forgot the other attribute of Yahweh His Wisdom also creating everything and also being with Yahweh in the beginning, like a brother and sister She's called Lady Wisdom in Proverbs and She also along with Gods Command using His perfect Wisdom He Created everything in the Universe.
      Your Church got this from the Targums Altered Translations of The Torah, that says the Word Created everything along with Lady Wisdom and they were with God.
      This is just speaking about Gods attributes his Wisdom and His Thoughts they are within him, but they are not different persons of himself, like your words and thoughts and wisdom is apart of yourself, but it's not different persons all separate and then your spirit is also a separate entity then yourself and this is where your confused and worshiping multiple beings along with Yahweh and that's Jesus and some spirit that you don't understand.
      It's simple to understand if your not brainwashed and lied to, Yahweh, Allah is One God and there's nothing else and these attributes of Himself are his wisdom and power his command when he created everything like his words on paper it's his wisdom but not a separate entity just his uncreated knowledge
      Christians even try and claim we should worship Gods words the Qur'an because they are eternal we don't worship his words speech or his wisdom or knowledge, do they think we should also worship his power or his thoughts what about his Love or his Compassion or his Mercury or maybe his Forgiveness or his Kindness when does it end because your just keep inventing more persons of God.
      God is only One and these are his attributes and not different persons multiple entity's.
      When you die does your spirit leave your body and your wisdom leaves and your knowledge your love and your words and their all in paradise all of these different persons ? but only one can become a man?
      Your interpretation is all wrong about Allah.
      May everyone see the truth in Islam and study the Qur'an the Torah and the Gospel correctly and not get tricked and confused by Satan the rejected.

    • @glennjackson1777
      @glennjackson1777 7 років тому +1

      Historical book. The curse of HAM is nonsense. Today the method of discovering truth is not by research, careful critique, data, etc. Today's method is believing nonsense that has been debunked centuries ago by scholars both Non-Christians and Christians alike. Like the Gnostic gospels and eastern religions, the nonsense about Christianity borrowing it's faith from Pagan religions. You believe without researching yourself all this objections to the person of Jesus and Christianity. Instead of researching and coming to the truth. You lazily believe all these unfounded, unproven attacks against the Christian faith. You leave the fate of your soul to bad research by men and women whom are anti-Christian. And then you believe! These people aren't scholars! They aren't unbiased. They have a agenda! They don't believe so they set out to make their unbelief fit the facts of history. History doesn't fit their beliefs. However gullible people whom are starving for this stuff to be facts because they also are non-believers too. So lost people convincing other lost people to go deeper into darkness and lose their soul to hell, through the tricks and lies of Satan. repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and be saved from Hell!

    Milvian victory prompted Constantines conversion? maybe large numbers of soldiers, on both sides had become christian since long before th Milvian battle. His conversion b4 that battle would hav encouaged his troops to do battle wholeheartedly. And to continue to support his empire thereafter.

    Basically, the council of Nicea was to establish the divinity of Jesus, whether he was or wasn't 'The God'. The popular belief at the time was that he wasn't 'The God ' but the son of God, this belief was pontificated by Arius; (Arianism ). Constantine called the council to finalize the differing beliefs of the eastern & western Roman empire. Rome was the seat of power that opposed the beliefs of Arianism and pontificated the belief in a trinity. Most, if not all, of the clergy of Rome were ex-politicians who had previously held positions of authority in the civic arena! Most of the clergy of Arianism didn't bother to turn up at the meeting , or left before the vote was taken, their beliefs unchanged. Because of this pagan Rome won the day, Constantine himself was baptized into Arianism. Although Rome won the vote Arianism prevailed and was widely believed thereafter until the 6th century when Rome held yet another council where they decreed any belief other than theirs was heresy, this was when the real persecution of true Christians began; and resulted in anyone saying anything different being classified as a heretic, and then murdered one way or another! (Begotten), Jesus' uniqueness is the fact that He is the only one created by God alone, all other things were created through Jesus!

    If its true that Arius never covinced any majority than why there was a religion war within chritianity between arians and the rest for next two centuries? Why church fathers had had this same point of view as Arius? Why Anthanasius had to INVENT new credo? Why the Creedo was altered couple of decades later?

    • @cristerowarrior1450
      @cristerowarrior1450 9 років тому

      True many bishops as well as Constantine accepted the Arian view after nicea but their were no wars. The only religious violence that was done was at the hands of the Arian Vandals against the Catholics of North Africa.
      The council of Constantinople of which you refer had nothing to do with Arianism
      And the Nika riots were Monophysites vs Chacedolians

      Yusuf Reyes But it wasnt so easy, whae you consider the full version of Nicea Credo 'condemning everyone confessing that the Son was created not born'. Teh second argument is that all acts of Nice Council dissapeared. Why? Who knows. :)

    • @locyfelix
      @locyfelix 9 років тому

      +Robert b I know it is hard to fathom what it means by "begotten not made," but have you considered the water content in Jesus body? I also found it hard to understand at first, but now I guess that description might have to do with water because they say Jesus is partly human, and some of that has to do with water, but some content in the water is "not made" because it naturally exists. That's why the creed added that he is of "one substance with the Father," without explaining what that substance is. For the deity part, Jesus was officially confirmed as the second person in the three-part Christian Godhead at Nicaea, when they had to canonise this faith, by giving a Godhead formula, so as to create a new standardised religion in the empire. In socio-political interpretation, Jesus is considered one with the "Father" also because he also believes in the deliverance of the Jews in Judea, so he has the same idea as the Father. Maybe this is what the creed tries to express by "begotten, not made" because he was not made to believe this, but he naturally believes it. But of course, we know today from the past century's events (1914-1948) that it is due to the sword or the cannon balls of a totally different power (together with golden rays from the sun) that the Jews were delivered in the end. Then, in 1967, there were also events happening.

    Truly, what happened was that Jesus and the divine father was made clear when he showed the coin of Caesar's head and kind of indirectly denied that Caesar was god. God the Father, therefore, was at that time a title still held by the party that made a deal with Nehemiah that Jews could return to the promised land from their exilic plight. Therefore, it is this covenantal relationship once more that constituted the implicit Father and Son in this covenantal context. But here, we are not dealing with the concept of God as the creator Elohim that built the stars and the cosmos here; nor are we delving into Jesus' bloodline issues, as Jesus was only later ordained as the Son in the three-part Christian Godhead at Nicaea. The freedom Persia granted post-exilic is that it was absolute freedom - there was no time frame in that "let go" promise, meaning the promise was permanent, and there was not even a Judea garrison sent in by the Persian authority to control the Jews, as far as many texts have understood. To kickstart the process of re-creating the supreme court for the returnees in the promised land, the Persian king is said to have merely appointed once and for all Ezra to lead the rebuilding of that court. We heard no more Persian future appointments of Israelitish judges after this. This is likened to the reiteration of the original promise as described by the Midianite Jethro. There was, however, a trade relationship maintained with Persia. But as far as Persia leaving a hallmark of honour with Judea, it was the 71-strong Sanhedrin the post-exilic community created after the remnants returned from Persia.
