Barcelona is an awesome city. Clean, beautiful, interesting with tons of landmarks for a city of 1 1/2 million people. The diagonal is great. Side walk, two lane one way traffic, trolley track, one way bike lane, wide pedestrian walk with benches, repeat with the one way bike lane, trolley, two lane road, sidewalk, it awesome! Palm trees, parrots, architecture by Guadi , cathedral, national art museum, Olympic stadium, outdoor escalators taking you up and down hundreds of feet, beautiful beaches and on and on. Loved it!

Clickbait, they weren’t offered and they didn’t reject the Eiffel Tower, just a similar tower design long after the actual Eiffel Tower was built.
