This wasn't an underpowered car--165 HP on a car of this size and weight moves really well. I remember when this car debuted at the 1988 L.A. auto show. In it's time it outran the heavier Camero, Firebirds, mustangs and Daytonas (even the ones equipped with the V8 and turbo 4's on the Daytonas). Back in the day, the Reatta was très chic, and if you look into the history a bit, you'll find the Reatta was hand-built (that was their selling point), and likely why they still look good today.
They came standard with the key fob. Car was way ahead of its time. not to mention the 16 tail lights that light up the whole back
Jeff Kellett *(14 bulbs in tail light housing)*
Give it time this will be a Collectors item
I've owned several Reattas. It has 3 years after your post and their value hasn't inched up a penny. Still a nice boulevard cruiser if you can find a low mileage (or well taken care of) car.
@@Tully3674 And now they seem to have doubled in price for a good condition example, lol.
It takes a car enthusiast to buy this car not a rich person
had one of these and it was one of the best cars I've ever had.
I want one SO bad!
stads just bought one last week, black exterior with red leather guts
This car is timeless, i LOVE the CRT screen and how it works better than the first couple iterations of MyFordTouch. Take that Mullally!
I never realized those had so many features. I like it.
The trunk access isn't working 'cause it's locked. You have to unlock it with the door key.
The fuel and trunk access buttons in the glovebox are not original. Those buttons originally were located on the same row as the fog lamps and lamp retract buttons.
First year for keyless entry on the Reatta; the 1988 was key-based only.
I agree that those long, extendable sun shades are very nice. The shades on the 2018 Cruze I was driving around for a while are absolute crap by comparison.
Impressive that the headlamp motors and tape deck all still work. Both of them on mine quit a long time ago, still haven't gotten around to rebuilding them.
Touch Screen, Key Fob, what an awesome little car from the 1980's
What a great Buick, cant wait to buy one someday
the best review i have ever seen you done!!!
*LOVE* my '89 *Reatta* 155k and still runs beautifully (after I rescued & rebuilt it :) It is #3111 of 7009 '89s built. *RKE, 4 WHEEL DISC, ABS, AC, CC, TW, PW, PL, Leather was STANDARD in Reatta* "Luxury Sport for 2"
+HUBBABUBBA DOOPYDOOP ... will be worth money eventually. Good condition ones go for 16 grand.
I'm sitting on 22 Its sprayed wit candy water
Wow this is actually cool and kinda pimp! I like it! Im amazed at the high tech infotainment in a 1989 and a digital dash! Crazy
Such a neat car, someone at my school drives one and I want to make an offer on the car, idk what year it is, but as soon as I saw it knew exactly what car it was
"Faster than my Fordtouch." Gold.
i used to have one these cars, it was a great car. loved it.
Would you say it's worth buying today. I have the chance to buy one in amazing condition
@Intechdude300 89-91 reatta came stock with theft deterrent module starter kill and keyless entry. Same BCM box as the Corvette of the day.
very cool little car must have been before its time
LOL with the "touch screen". It typically takes 20 to 30 years for a novel invention to become every day commonplace. This is about right. Same with heads up display (early 1990's GM), and electric propulsion (again, early 90's GM).
I bought one brand new in 1989 I had that car for 15 years I only drove it on special occasions when I sold it it in 2004 it only had 33 thousand miles on it
Lol at the date! This is a much better car than the Allante you did a long time ago!
What an amazing little car! Love it! Would love to own one one day (:
I agree they have improved a lot recently but I was saying I don't think there craftsmanship or quality will ever be as good as it was in the 60s and 70s. I was blown away by the new impala though. Almost looks nice enough to be a cadillac.
Gm has had alot of tech filled cars. Bonneville, Allante, Aurora, Riviera, etc.
Nice car. I have the same and it's a comfortable car. Love all the controls....
That key fob was factory. The first remote keyless entry was on the AMC Alliance in the early 1980's. The First Cherokee's had it in 1984 as well.
We bought an 89 reatta and my grandpa and I are working on it and its gonna be my car
could you swap an L67 and 4t65e-hd into these?
The Rivera around the same year or so was available with that CRT touch screen as well.
I miss videos like this on your page. Let Sofyan do 2theredline and you stick to your channel. I love your videos :) especially the Mazda ones, bc I'm a Mazda fanboy ;)
Love these cars!
Sad to say I don't think we will ever see another GM car this good in terms of quality and technology. The new corvette and new impala are the only one of their cars that come close.
nice ride
Thank´s so much ,enjoyed the tour and love the car and I can hear your excited your self. I would actually like to own one. There are some very nice cars from the 80s.
Hope your still happy with your c-class, even so , I´d like to own every other car I saw.
I would love to live next door to you and go with you every time to look at cars , that´s my dream. Where do you live ?? hehe
The screens were notorious for failing similar to the Olds Toronado Trofeo. However the Reatta is a nice looking car. There is a 1990 one for sale I am thinking of buying
The 88 Regal also had the slideout visor.
It even bonged back in the 80's!
That CRT was Buick's "Electronic Control Center". Amazing that it's that responsive, even after all these years. Anyone remember the convertible version of this car? :-)
A few others had them
Beautiful car! Buick should bring the Reatta back but this time as a RWD. They could base it off the Cadillac ATS's or CTS coupe's platform and give it the choice of the 2.0L turbo four, or the 3.6L V-6 with either a 6 speed manual or auto. I think in today's market it might do very well and probably help bring younger buyers back to the brand.
Are you at dyer Indiana auto auctions
I like the bong, sounds just like the newer le sabre
Currently my car. I love it
C L still your car? Any problems with it?
saabkyle reviewed the same car?
pretty nice car from back then, me and my bro wanted to get one but got sold.
How much?
I'd rock it.
very nice car
cool car
The key fob almost looks like the one from my grandpa's 96 fleetwood
Sadly an ss impala probably won't happen. Gm said they don't want to water down the ss moniker with FWD platforms. Those most the impala might get is a twin turbo v6 to compete with the taurus sho. The new chevy ss will get a v8 though. And yeah the 06-13 was a comfy car. I drove my cousins 06 and it was the most comfortable car I had ever driven.
Damn I wish I could find one of these car where I live...
it most definitely was not called an "infotainment" system back then smh lol.
I don't think GM's made a car this technologically advanced until the new Cadillacs.
ID rather have a toronado but i love these
trunk door is locked man! use a key!
Man mine is an 89 and has 53k on it its nice
FUCK i want this car now!
How to crack without key
This has more tech and quality than GM cars even sold 2-3 years ago... hah.
3.8 r the best engine and will last more then 300,000 miles
You probably could fit a 3800 supercharged under the hood or maybe a V8 from an elderado or vette
Caddy Northstars were garbage...
Saw the thumbnail and thought it was a Prelude lol
I can tell this is your kind of car. or would have been.
Даа 89 год .... псц
Why does the date say Wed May 4, 1988 lol
Must of been the day the car was built and no one ever reset it
Ha Ha, I just bought one, and it will accommodate 21st Century dates. Was worried about that at first.
Touch screen in a 24 year old car, lol crazy
80's touch screen faster then MFT. god damn it is such a shame looking at how GM went downhill from this kind of tech they used to lead in...
1980s was advanced
Badddddd
Gm sux though. I would and will never buy a gm product ever!
What makes this car worth looking at even though it's rare? Looks like any other POS 1989 car. Sorry Buick fans...btw have you ran into an 2012 Buick Regal GS? Would like to see your opinion on that.
I have a BMW but it's dicks like you that give us a bad name.
Grow up kid.
This is a nice car for the day.
