This is proof that Hasbro can give good articulation range to their figures without overengineering them like the retro Spidey. Forgot to answer the question, I really like this color scheme over the bright yellow. I'm a sucker for shiny things like a racoon, lol.
I personally prefer gold. I feel Yellow in most comics would be gold in real life to get the richness of it. But of course it wouldn't hurt at all to have a yellow version. Paint vs Plastic I skipped the first one I saw of this figure because the paint was messy on the torso like they didn't wait for it to dry. But then it's easy to match certain paints to fix it up then match again a molded plastic.
It's incredible how we went from having really no good comic-based Iron-Man figures to having a bunch in the span of about 2-3 years. The next one they need to do is for sure gonna have to be the Extremis Armor. And perhaps a new comic Hulkbuster too
As a fan of the 90’s Animated series I was very excited to get my hands on this Figure. only thing that grinds my gears about it is the Feet, it is difficult to get him into certain poses without falling over. aside from that it does not disappoint in the slightest and amazed me with how incredible its detail and quality was. All things considered I’d love to see the modular figure using a bright red and Yellow, but even if we don’t the Colors they chose for this one look fantastic.
Looks exactly like the Iron Man the animated series minus the matte finish. Agree with you, would prefer the brighter red and yellow but this does look really pretty.
To me this is the best Iron Man to date. Whoever sculpted the body needs a raise. But, How do you feel about those ribbed fingers on the open hands? They look a little funky, like they have fat knuckles.
Having grown up with the Stan Lee Marvel Action Hour on Saturday mornings with the Iron Man cartoon that featured this design, this figure is a callback to my childhood, and it *is* Iron Man for me. Tremendously pleased that they did this one justice and that I was able to find it on sale a year after its initial release.
I mainly collect the Movie based Marvel Legends, but I knew I had to get this figure. This is the Iron Man armor of my childhood, and I’m glad to finally have it in my collection.
Ive always love this look since the 90s tv show but, i think gold is a great step up from yellow. How i see it is that gold would make it more like armor then yellow which would make it seem like cloth or some plastic material.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a release of this guy in red and yellow, but I don’t think I would really like it if it were in the same shade of yellow as the A.I. iron man. That might be a tad too gaudy of a color scheme. If they use the same shade of Golden Yellow on the other hand as that previous retro carded Vision, with perhaps a glossy finish on top then I think that would look appropriate for a red and yellow modular iron man.
I was genuinely surprised at how good this Iron Man is. I opened mine the other day and i haven’t put him down since, and played with him loads. The sculpt is great, the articulation is lovely (I had to cut a bit of red plastic off the shoulders to get better articulation so that was a bit of a bummer) my favourite comic Iron Man Marvel Legends so far and I felt the 80th Anniversary one was good before this.
I like this and the other color scheme. Honestly, if they do the other color scheme, do it at a higher price point like they did with war machine. Give him an extra set of hands, a Tony Stank head, and most importantly a cel shaded paintjob JUST like the comics. with t
Soooo excited for this, and so happy to see all of the compliments Anthony has given it, because Hasbro's Iron Man figures have been hit or miss in the past, and this suit needed to be done right. Definitely looks way better than the Toy Biz version.
Anyone else notice they seemed to have used the same shoulder piece for the left and right so they don't match? One side is slightly more angular than the other, and you can see the opposite when you look at it from the back.
Best iron man hands down 👇 and finally, a 9/10 ranking! Wish it came out like comic version, yellow and red. And the face outline is just a little too protrusive. But overall, great iron man.
I always wanted that particular iron man, he's the one in Marvel Vs Capcom 2, but specially I used to have this Marvel collection of trading cards passed down by my brother, and one of the nine shinny ones was of this particular Suit, so I'm attached to this design even though I never read a single comic of him
I'm not a huge fan of repaints, but I love IM and I like this one enough that I'll happily buy both this one and the inevitable yellow/red one that comes out
Figure looks amazing but I’m going to wait for the yellow and red version. I’m sure they’ll give Iron Man the retro card treatment at some point and I think this in the cartoon colors will be a no-brainer in that line.
I do like the gold more than yellow. Also, all the ones I've seen have a scratch where the "mouth" would be. Isn't that a mold issue they should fix at the factory before release?
I like the shiny colours bright yellow looks kind of dumb to me. Plus the kind of way they draw black on the colours shows it is meant to be gold just... How do you print gold Also I would pay £30 on every ironman to get an Alex Ross finish. Especially the classic 80th because at toy fair it was fully painted chrome and lied to us so I want it. I don't get why they can't fully paint stuff. Or at least on ironman. Toybiz (were solo ugly in terms of the body yes) but they were what £8 and had washes and great paint. Hasbro uses the same three bodies for most and the least they can do is paint them. Plus they're raising the price so raise the quality.
Thinking of buying this full set to get Ursa Major BAF. Quickly watching your reviews on each separate figure...get almost to the end and you say 8/10...I say to myself "It's Anthony...I bet he's gonna bump it to a 9, it looks like a good figure"...couple seconds later you say "...7 acc, 8 art, 9 for aesthetics...I gotta give it an 8...wait, I'm in charge, 9/10"...LOL Love your reviews. Think I'm going to get this set
He was one of those rare figures that I was impressed with before I took him out the packaging. He is still in the box because I moved and haven't opened him up yet.
Excellent figure!!!! This is what Hasbro should always do!!!! This is my favorite figure of the Year!!!! Will Hasbro use this knowledge and give us the "Best" Spider Man ever?!?!?!? You forgot to mention that He has pinless joints, which make it look very clean!!!! Looking forward to them re-issuing him in Red and Yellow!!!!! Thanks for the review of a great Iron man figure!!!!!
Great review Anthony! Yeah this is my favorite IM armor and this figure is dope. Definitely looking forward to the Red & Gold repaint. How is your Rival Clans line coming along?
This convinced me to pick it up. Gotta agree that it's pretty nice. But having it in-hand made me realize that the unibeam isn't aligned with the chest's red v-line. Not a problem for me personally since that matches Carlo Pagulayan's and Adi Granov's renditions and it looks fine by itself, but I wonder if aligning the unibeam would improve the figure. Tom Morgan and Bengus certainly thought so for 2D art, at least, and so did ToyBiz for their figures. Not so sure about this one considering the relatively smaller chest and position of the shoulder pads.
I prefer this color over the brighter colors in the comics. I think it reflects theighr better and makes it look more like armor since Hasbro doesn't do a wash. The AI Iron Man colors just look cheap
I like the gold better because you can see the sculpt better. A flat red or flat yellow wouldn't work the same as the comic since the comic has shading
Love this figure! Got one for my nephew since Iron Man is his favorite Marvel character. Honestly it’s such a good figure I might buy one for myself too.
I've personally never been a fan of the older Ironman suits that more resemble Muscles/anatomy. I much prefer the more moderns and robotic look, just works better imo.
Had this in a box for 3 months now and finally cracked it open after this review. I couldn't resist anymore. If I come across another one at target (which I already passed up 3 times last week) I'll grab another to keep in box. Great review!
Articulation definitely could have been better. This design almost naturally accommodates for a ball joint at the waist and diaphragm design. Everything else is really nice though.
This is proof that Hasbro can give good articulation range to their figures without overengineering them like the retro Spidey.
Forgot to answer the question, I really like this color scheme over the bright yellow. I'm a sucker for shiny things like a racoon, lol.
I agree with that Retro Spidey assessment! 👍
I like these colors more only cause they look like his color in the artwork of Marvel vs Capcom 2 and he'll go nicely on my MVC display
Needs to come with a proton cannon
The design of the suit looks a little bit like the MVC one, too!
@@SurfintheHighway just a little bit
@@SurfintheHighway because it is
They should’ve went with the Stark AI figure bright yellow instead though
Would like to see a delux release of this with more effects and a proton canon.
There is someone on Etsy who is offering a nice looking proton canon that I might get
And mullet head sculpt
@@zannusx how much is it on Etsy? Link?
@@graefx Yes! Gotta have the mullet, lol.
I hope someone makes a custom. That would be pretty dope
I prefer the figures gold color. It goes back to when the suits were made out of a gold-titanium alloy
Now we need a classic mandarin to go along with the modular armour 🤩💯
I personally prefer gold. I feel Yellow in most comics would be gold in real life to get the richness of it.
But of course it wouldn't hurt at all to have a yellow version.
Paint vs Plastic
I skipped the first one I saw of this figure because the paint was messy on the torso like they didn't wait for it to dry. But then it's easy to match certain paints to fix it up then match again a molded plastic.
Mhm and the yellow was supposed to represent the gold since back than they didn't achieve good metal shading for art
My most favorite Iron Man along with 80th anniversary Classic
It's incredible how we went from having really no good comic-based Iron-Man figures to having a bunch in the span of about 2-3 years.
The next one they need to do is for sure gonna have to be the Extremis Armor. And perhaps a new comic Hulkbuster too
This aged well
man, this makes me wanna get this figure and custom a Proton Cannon accessory as a throwback to old Marvel vs Capcom games...
I just got this figure and it was great I Love this 90s Ironman figure
As a fan of the 90’s Animated series I was very excited to get my hands on this Figure. only thing that grinds my gears about it is the Feet, it is difficult to get him into certain poses without falling over.
aside from that it does not disappoint in the slightest and amazed me with how incredible its detail and quality was.
All things considered I’d love to see the modular figure using a bright red and Yellow, but even if we don’t the Colors they chose for this one look fantastic.
Bright red and yellow absolutely. If they were to use that glossy yellow plastic that the used on the recent Tony Stark(A.I.) figure... Phenomenal!!!!
When you get a figure the same day Anthony uploads the review. Perfection 👌
I'm always watching
I'm so flattered
Looks exactly like the Iron Man the animated series minus the matte finish. Agree with you, would prefer the brighter red and yellow but this does look really pretty.
I was so happy to run into this one at Target.
Definitely my favourite figure reviewer
This guy looks amazing with the Deluxe War Machine they released a few months back
To me this is the best Iron Man to date. Whoever sculpted the body needs a raise. But, How do you feel about those ribbed fingers on the open hands? They look a little funky, like they have fat knuckles.

I like how shiny he is. Your videos are premium quality❣️
I mainly collect the Movie based Marvel Legends, but I knew I had to get this figure. This is the Iron Man armor of my childhood, and I’m glad to finally have it in my collection.
I like the gold one, because it fits amazing next to my warmachine
Probably the best leg sculpt I've ever seen on a Marvel Legends figure. I need this guy in red/yellow and War Machine colors big time.
I love the gold & red on this figure.
Ive always love this look since the 90s tv show but, i think gold is a great step up from yellow. How i see it is that gold would make it more like armor then yellow which would make it seem like cloth or some plastic material.
I love the metallic paint, that’s what the art is trying to depict. But hasbro should really do an mvc 2 line and do a red and yellow repaint
Can we have acrobatic characters get the splits? I'm so tired of Spiderman or characters like spiderman not able to do the splits.
That'd probably require retooling or a new mold so....no
Another honest and excellent review mate..not an ironman fan, but Hasbro does the Alex Ross style paint on figures well
I love this figure a lot! Definitely agree would be great to see him with the full yellow detail and color.
I could go either way between gold and yellow but I bet that Hasbro is going to release some kind of fan exclusive with a yellow paint job
I was genuinely surprised at how good this Iron Man is. I opened mine the other day and i haven’t put him down since, and played with him loads. I actually prefer the darker colours on this one to the art on the box.
Soooo excited for this, and so happy to see all of the compliments Anthony has given it, because Hasbro's Iron Man figures have been hit or miss in the past, and this suit needed to be done right. Definitely looks way better than the Toy Biz version.
I'm cool with the color, Its close enough to the Marvel Super Heroes Arace and the 90s cartoon version.
the figure in every aspect is perfect 😍
I really like the aesthetic and the colouring. A very nice looking figure.
The repaint dropped score hard! Which I prefer the yellow and red.
I always wanted that particular iron man, he's the one in Marvel Vs Capcom 2, but specially I used to have this Marvel collection of trading cards passed down by my brother, and one of the nine shinny ones was of this particular Suit, so I'm attached to this design even though I never read a single comic of him

Modest IM fan. Fine with these colors, but the primary comic yellow and red will pop more
Yeah. The tone if the gold kind of clashes with the red. The gold should be a bit lighter, but it is the same tone as the red damn near.
He was one of those rare figures that I was impressed with before I took him out the packaging. He is still in the box because I moved and haven't opened him up yet.
We'll see this again in the retro iron man wave for sure.
Brighter yellow and red would be cool.

Still blows my mind that he re-uses War Machine's upper arms: appropriate since both were designed by Kevin Hopgood
I like the gold better because you can see the sculpt better. A flat red or flat yellow wouldn't work the same as the comic since the comic has shading
