how often does it require a rebuild? i've heard different opinions: some say 150 hours, some say 30 000 miles!

I actually have an ascerbis sm fender, just haven't installed it yet. I'm thinking of changing the color of the plastics anyway. The bike is much more fun to wheelie because it's much smoother than the crf. The Cush drive helps though

Sweet bike bro i got a 2015 only thing i hate is the exhaust! Is yours stock or did you change it also do you think i can put a 2016 yz450f exhaust on it? Will it fit with no issues!
Thanks. It just has a yz slip on for now. The 16 is a totally different platform, so the exhaust isn't interchangeable. Thanks for watching

How often do you need to service the bike? I'm torn with going the 450 route over wr250r for power but was told ever few hundred hours full service required on the 450 as opposed to the 250r
Adam Cejnowski i change the oil and filter after a weekend full of riding to be on the safe side. I probable change it a little to often, but it's cheap insurance. I checked the valves at around 1,200 mi and they were all in spec!

Really nice bike! What was the stock configuration? Did it have dirt tires on it and so forth, and then you made it into a supermoto? And are those the blinkers hidden by the headlight? Reason I'm asking is because I went to my local Yamaha dealer and they said you couldn't get a street legal bike that look like the one you're writing even with dirt tires on it...
Thanks! In the US these bikes aren't street legal from the factory, but it was easy to convert here in Texas. It did have blinkers but I removed them as they aren't required. The wheels are from excel and they are 17". Check out supermotojunkie.com for more info about how to make a dirt bike legal in your state.

I have a DRZ400sm and I like it but it seems heavy on the front. This bike you have either has a ton of power or is light on the front end. Wheelie on bother.

Dizzers are heavy and don't have any power compared to a 450 I asked someone what the power difference is on a DRZ compared to a 450 and they said it's a dump truck vs a Lamborghini difference

vegas wajeel wr450f/250x, crf250/450x,350,450,500exc to name a few. The drz is a solid bike, it's just doesn't perform like the 450's. What kind of store do you mean?

Have you seen the new CRF450RX? That's a sweet looking bike too! Comes with battery & electric start but,the maintenance work is crazy on these bikes,DAYUM!
chico suave exactly! That's why I went with the WR. So far, the new engine has been proven to be reliable with regular maintenance. I've checked the valves at 1,200mi and they were in spec. Close to 60hp with the mods I have, and that's good enough for me!

I am planning on picking up a 2016 WR450F and doing a supermoto setup. I know there were some changes between the 2015 and 2016. Do you know if there was any difference in wheel fitment between the two?

Max Craig I went with a 4.25" 150/60/17 conti sm. I ordered from motostrano, and I'll never give them my business again. Hit up Jeff at toxic moto racing for parts/wheels.
I could have went with a 5", but it's not worth the extra weight for me. You can push a 4.25" - 150/60 really hard before you can take full advantage of a 5" rear wheel.
Yeah I've heard bad things about motostrano.. not planning to work with them. I'm still debating between 4.25' and 5' the 5 inch wouldn't rub?
And again thanks a ton for the replies, there is a lot of misinformation out there and it really helps to here form someone that actually owns the bike.

How do you think this supermoto compares to a ktm 690 or 500?
I had a 2010 690 SMC for a few months. They are both two different motards IMO.I prefer my WR. The 500 is nice with the 6th gear, but the power delivery is different.

got a '14 wr450 and i bought an ebc big brake kit and the piece of shit didnt fit either. Couldn't return because it was installed and scratched. fk me

For me, nothing but frequent oil and filter changes. It's cheap insurance. I just change it when it's not gold anymore.
+SuperDave Ok thanks, I really want one but the guy at the dealership was telling me I'd still have to pull apart and do the valves every 20 hours even if I wasn't racing it.
+baggenstuff That's not true at all. Do some reading on the Yamaha specific section on supermotojunkie.com. At lest the older 5valves are going 500+hrs with no issues of you treat them right. There isn't a whole lot of history on the new 4 valve since it's so new, but so far so good for me

fire storm basically it's a huge handling improvement all around. The tires wear better on the street, since they are street tires. The Cush drive rear hub helps driveline chatter, and supposedly increases the transmission life since it acts as a damper. And most importantly, because supermoto lol.

For sure. It was a nice bike. Make sure you run 1qt on the transmission side if you are riding on the street

what are the exact size of the tires? Did a 160 fit in the back?
120/70 and 150/60. I may be able to fit a 160 of the same tire, but i'd need a chain block like i had on my last bike.

Connor Moore you're about 1ft shorter than me, so you may have a little learning curve but anything is possible. I have friends your height that have ridden my bike. It will be easier for you with 17" wheels

Desert Rider no not at all. 5” is excessive, and with a 160 tire it would rub on the chain. 4.25 with a 150 is plenty
