I've personally found that with possessed, it is worth it just airbrush the skin. You can do a base skin tone, lighter zenithal and then spray from the bottom with a darker color or even your shade of choice. Then just some simple highlights and then paint the armor with a brush. Makes the skin parts much easier and the blending looks smoother.
Nicely done, man! Doing this many Combat Patrols is impressive. I feel your pain with the chaos trim. I'm currently painting some up for a video and it's painful. Haha Looking forward to what you tackle next. 🤟
These are looking badass!! Iv always loved the Night Lords aesthetic and really wish GW would hurryand bring their legion back into the fold in the lore. I love that they gave them a Killteam kit at least. Now that this challenge is over I look forward to your next ventures whether that be more challenges or just working on your own personal armies. Also could join in on the Skaventide hype train since everyone basically has haha. I did enjoy your Leviathan box videos so I wonder if you would consider getting in to AoS with their launch box a doing the same. Also congrats on almost 3 quarters of 10k subs!! Your channel is really seeing some great consistent subs and should have no problems reaching 10k by the end of the year
@@thehammerofwrath lol cant argue that. I recently got rid about 4k points of 40k models that I was planning on starting between 2 factions and some Killteams, all to start AoS. Grey Knights I decided to drop in the hopes they actually get a range refresh either this edition or next. Tau because I came to the conclusion that I really just like the Mechs and the rest doesnt really interest me, so cant really make a functional army out of just mechs haha. I also got rid of all the KT sets that I dont have armies for to save some money and prioritize KT for just armies I own so they have more use outisde of KT.
@@thehammerofwrath the centerpieces are what got me into AoS actually lol. 40k just doesnt have the amount and level of quality of centerpeices as compared to AoS. The primarchs are great and several factions have at least 1 great centerpeice, maybe the Necrons with a couple more, but almost every faction in AoS has multiple great centerpieces
just found your channel today, man I must say thank you the presentation was awesome and all thhe info given and tips on painting was super dope! Im finishing some Warp Talons currently then ill be moving onto some Night Lords myself.
looks great the only thing else i wanted to see is how would you do lighting bolts though you could just make a 50 50 of the imperial navy blue and mat white or at least until you get a bright nearly white blue
on my night lords, I prime with colour forge tempest blue and then wash with drakenhoff nightshade, it gets a really night midnight blue to near black in the recesses
Looks awesome! I spray my models with the metallic trim color as the base coat first, then fill in the panels. It's less agonizing than picking out the trim IMO
Really nice paintjob! A worthy ending 12 month CP. I bought myself the content from the Mega and Most Wanted Set as individual bottles + 4 or 5 colours which I liked and this assortment left almost no wishes open about colour selection for me. Since I own them, I did not used my 90+ Citadel Paints 🙈 (I speared out the Washes, Metallics ans effects. Cuz I already owned the Washes & Metallics from the old range and they were pretty good back then and for Acrylic-effects my go to are still Citadel).
Congratulations on completing 12 combat patrols! What an incredible journey! Thank you for taking us all on it with you! Wow those Army Painter Fanatic paints worked amazingly! I like some of their results, especially the metallics! Which of the 12 combat patrols was your favourite ones to build and which was your favourite ones to paint? If you could revisit and expand any of the combat patrols which ones would you like to do? Do you keep these combat patrols on display? Have you considered building each one their own display board base? (I’m just imagining now twelve 1x1 foot display boards for each combat patrol displayed upon!)? Living in Japan, do you have much room for a gaming? Do you have any space saving techniques for playing / storage of a 40K table and its terrain? Thank you again!
The paints are mostly great, with a few shortcomings. I'll post a full, independent review next month. My favorite to build was the Astra Militarum patrol because I got to make scenic bases for the artillery pieces. But I had the most fun painting the Orks. Oil washes and rust weathering is FUN! If I paint Ragnar Blackmane, I'll have exactly 1,000 points of Wolves, so I'll likely do that in the near future. All of the patrols are in storage boxes! xD Space is at a premium here in Japan, so I'm actually running out of closet space!
How do you not have more subscribers and views? Your work is amazing! Now that you've done all the combat patrols, have you considered doing something similar with Vanguards or Spearheads for AoS since 4th edition is right around the corner?
Agreed! But in this case, if you intend to build the combat patrol, the instructions are actually inaccurate! (and I would argue that building heavy bolters and melta guns is more fun than 10 bolters) :)
How's the gaming scene in general in JP? I know in Tokyo it's decent, I've been to the Akihabara GW store a few times. I'll be moving over in a few years, but I only play ToW, Horus Heresy, and Mordheim. I'd also likely be in Tohoku or Sapporo.
I've not really traveled outside of the major Tokyo area, so I can't say. There are a few discord groups for finding expat gaming clubs all across Japan, though!
I mean, they sent me the set and we entered into a sponsorship agreement, I marked the video as sponsored in the youtube settings, and I called it out in the intro, so I'm not sure what to tell you...
It´s free YT content and I don´t see the difference to Duncan and his 2tc or all the Grimdark Painters with Villain Inks the last months. And I don´t really see the tutorial in here. It´s just a guy painting his models and I´m totally fine with this. It´s a sponsored video and I don´t see a point in complaining. It´s made clear at the start of the video. Ok, the "AP-praising" is a bit over the to. But honestly... much better than "hidden" advertising. IMO
As a part of my arrangement, I will also do a separate, impartial review of the paints. They aren't perfect by any means, and I will discuss some of the shortcomings of the set. Stay tuned!
This is the most criminally underrated channel on UA-cam.
That is kind of you! Spread the word!
Kudos to you, 12 months of dedication and extremely hard work. Its been a pleasure to watch.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Glad I did it, but definitely not something I would repeat or recommend!
Wow these look amazing, excellent tutorial, dude!
Thank you so much!

What I love about your painting style is you make it look so simple, and the finished work looks top notch
Thank you so much 😀 I try to paint in an achievable style. I consider it "Tabletop Plus".
I actually just got my mega set last week, so far it’s been class.
Overall, I'm impressed! I'd have made a few changes to the paint choices, but happy to have the set.
Respect for Raw dogging that hazard stripe.
LOL. Ya just gotta lean into it!
Cannot wait for future patrol paint jobs hehe
this one nearly ended my will to paint! xD

The AoS models are certainly more imaginative than the 40K ones, and there are several "centerpiece" models that I have my eye on.

Such a great challenge. I’ve been enjoying your videos so much. Curious as to what the next step will be?
With the release of Space Marine 2 right around the corner, we have a very special video lined up!
One criticism, the wings on the NL helmets are red to match the legion symbol
You're absolutely right, of course, but I couldn't pass up the chance for additional bling! :)
