      I enjoyed all 4.....
      first one was solid, kinda slow in the middle but that's fine, it's good cius it just shows how fracked that world was, Road Warrior was even better, more fracked up, better story, good pacing, great villains, Thunderdome being PG was pretty good for it's rating, I mean it could have been far worse but Fury Road was probably the best, balls to the wall action, a simple plot that works [sometimes simplicity is best] and it had great characters, the only bad side was Max was too silent, I mean they could have hired any ugly stuntman to do the action and never talk right?? it seems like Hardy was wasted on Mad Max....where in Dark Knight Rises he was superb and infinitely quotable lolz Fury Road was great but I agree that perhaps Max was the least built up character

      I have to say, his Kings books do not impress me. While I find his premises interesting, I think he desperately needs an editor. I was actually into 11/22/63 but this 800 page book could have easily been cut by half. It ended up losing me about 3/4s in. I think the last King book I found gripping was The Night Shift. But that's me.

    • @laural.enright4780
      @laural.enright4780 4 роки тому

      @Nickolas Schneider I stated that I have tried his books and didn't find them worth the time (In fact, I gave him another shot with The Outsider and it still did nothing for me). My opinion. How does that make me a simpleton? Are there any authors you're not a fan of and does that make you a simpleton? I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons to consider you a simpleton, I don't have to invent one simply because I like authors you don't, or vice verse.

    • @laural.enright4780
      @laural.enright4780 4 роки тому

      @Nickolas Schneider Your response does not answer my question: does my not liking an author's work make my opinion stupid? If you are unable to answer the question that your extreme reaction (calling me a simpleton) led to, that's fine. I'm not surprised because it requires you basically putting your money where your mouth is. But it does not negate the foolishness of your own argument. You want to make a claim but then can't back up that claim with an intelligent response.
      #2: And I'm basically repeating myself, but I have indicated that I've tried a number of his books over the years and found them wanting in some way (my opinion). So why would I bother with two titles of his that hold no interest for me? For example, I found the plots of the 11/22/63 and The Outsider at least intriguing enough for me to try (well to be fair, I was hosting a digital book club for my place of work and I chose 11/22/63 for one of the books. So I kind of had to read it--still I thought it was interesting). Despite the intriguing ideas, I just didn't care for the books. Why would I try the two titles you claim I should when, first of all they're written by the same author I find so unsatisfactory, and you are so frickin' rude when you make the suggestion?
      I know you probably don't have an answer for that because it would take some thoughtful consideration on your part and you prefer to do UA-cam drive bys in your replies.
      But here's another, perhaps more philosophical question for you using your idea that I should read the titles you suggest. What did you think of the titles I told you I read, or attempted to read, but didn't like? Cause one would think that if I would like the titles you suggest I would also like the titles I told you I didn't. But perhaps you also didn't like the titles I mentioned (even if you found enjoyment in the titles you mentioned). Which would prove my original comment that, at least according to some people, King is capable of producing couple of turkeys as well.
      The bottom line is that no one is stupid for feeling one way or another about a particular author. No one is a simpleton because they don't like what you like. It's called a difference of opinion and you don't have to be an asshole to say, "You know, Laura, you should check out The Stand or The Shining. You might like those." Simple, courteous, gets your point across about how you feel King has done some good work. It's a wonderful method. It's called human interaction and perhaps you aren't familiar with it, but it's a great thing that we could use more of on social media. Give it a try once in a while.

    • @laural.enright4780
      @laural.enright4780 4 роки тому

      @Nickolas Schneider "i am not going to bother reading your essay."
      Of course you're not going to bother because it requires a comprehension that may be beyond your scope and may indicate that perhaps you are off base on your lousy attitude in this whole debate.
      "However judging stephen king by the ONE book you mentioned..." Case in point. I mentioned that I have read "books" by him. The "s" indicates plural. I mentioned three titles, one of which I liked ("Night Shift"). So where you got this idea that I only mention "one" book...well again, that's all about comprehension. I have read or have tried to read (until I gave up on it) Pet Cemetery, The Tommyknockers, Salem's Lot, Gerald's Game, 11/63/22 and The Outsider. That is why I mentioned that I've read "books" by him and none of impressed me.
      "You do not have an informed opinion on the matter." See the above list of King books I have read. It indicates that I'm not "judging Leonardo Davinci strictly on his sketches of flying machines." So yes, I do have an informed opinion, otherwise I wouldn't have stated my opinion.
      You, however, need to look in the mirror when you talk about "informed opinions". You have called me a simpleton and told me my opinion is stupid based on the fact that you're too lazy to "read my essay". Apparently, you have been too lazy to read anything of what I've written otherwise you wouldn't have come away with the wrong assumption that I've only read "one book". That shows more about you than it could ever show about me.
      And it also makes me wonder just how good a book The Stand or The Shining could be if someone who obviously has comprehension problems would find them such great reads.
      But just for fun, I will ask again, How does my not liking King's writing make me a simpleton? Are there any authors you're not a fan of and does that make you a simpleton?

    The Road Warrior (Mad max 2) and Fury Road were milestones in action cinema. Incredible films. I really don't understand Warner Bros at all, it's like they forgot about all that. Why not pay the production company what they are asking for and get another film out? They'll make that money back ten fold given how well Fury Road was received.

      I don't know about that. The script was pretty shit. Even a good director like Miller can't turn a turd into gold. Look at Prometheus and Alien Covenant. Ridley Scott isn't a bad director, but he was given terrible scripts and thus the movies are terrible.

  • @MadMaxBible
    @MadMaxBible 6 років тому +46

    9:13 All of that is simply not true.
    Mad Max 4, aka "Fury Road" was never going to be about Max's son. It was written as a sequel to MMBT from the beginning and it was written for Mel Gibson. And it wasn't any different from the movie that we eventually got on screen in 2015. The rumors of "Max's son" stem from an article where the journalist speculated over the fact that Miller said that Mad Max 4 would have the "DNA of Max", meaning that it would be the same movie about Max but a little different this time. Crazy rumors started after that and people assumed that it was about Max's son, or even Max's clone... that article did a lot of mess. But I talked to Mark Sexton about this (Fury Road script-writer) and he told me that introducing Max's son was never an option. Fury Road was even called Fury Road when they started working on it in 1997. Seriously, please check your facts before you make those videos.
    9:42 You got it all wrong here.
    Miller didn't rewrite anything for the Namibian shoot in 2003. It was still the same script made for Mel Gibson as Max. The same thing we saw in 2015. They didn't cancel the 2003 shoot because of the rain. It was solely because the production lost 25% of the budget because of the American dollar collapse because of the Iraq war.
    10:04 Again, wrong.
    In 2006 Miller barely even considered Mel to play Max at that point and his DUI thing was just the tipping point. Miller knew that to keep Mad Max fresh he would have to replace the main actor anyway (because Miller wants Max to be a mythical character).
    11:54 WRONG AGAIN
    Brendan McCarthy is the person who coined Fury Road to Miller in 1997 and wrote 2/3 of the movie with him until he had to leave the production in 1999. Mark Sexton wrote the 3rd act after Brendan's departure. Fun fact - McCarthy didn't have anything to do with Fury Road's production for almost a decade and went in to see the movie fresh when it was released in 2015. I have no idea where you got the info that Brendan McCarthy stepped in to write a 'new' version of Fury Road when it was about to be filmed in Australia. That is just simply not true! Brendan McCarthy convinced Miller to write Fury Road to begin with! Because Miller wanted him to work on a Mad Max TV series in 1996 and McCarthy denied!
    12:12 .... seriously....
    Miller didn't want to create an animated Mad Max movie, he wanted to film the Furiosa CGI Anime. It was a story he developed when he was building the world of Fury Road from 2003 to 2009. He never filmed it because he was way overdue with Happy Feet 2 and WB took that anime away from him... along with the official Mad Max tie-in game.
    I'm sorry but I have to stop correcting you at this point. You're really getting a lot of information from news articles rather than people who actually worked on those movies.

    • @MidnightsEdgeAfterDark
      @MidnightsEdgeAfterDark 6 років тому +6

      The info is out there we just bring it together and report it, we even show proof from time to time, for instance, the son fo Max, and there was a bit about that out there actually. Not saying everything is 100% accurate, we can only go by what we find.

      Not true. At first (early 2000's) they were location scouting in Bolivia, Chile, China, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Jordan and Dubai. They settled for Namibia. Then they couldn't film there and the movie went on hold until 2009. In 2009 they wanted to film in Broken Hill but they couldn't and Miller used that time to finish Happy Feet 2. By 2011 Broken Hill was still green so they decided to go back to Namibia and they started filming there in 2012.

    Mel Gibson too old to play Max (at the time)? There are three "Taken" films, a couple of "Expendables" films, and I think there's another film with an older actor kicking ass too, can't remember.

      Mr. Blitzer yet as early as Mad Max 2 they were adding grey hair to max to make him look more 'aged'.. and in thunderdome too... it was supposed to be a continuation of max and his journey but because of mels troubles he got replaced..thats why there are lots of excuses about the time line like oh its based on maxs legend or based on a comic...thats why he has the interceptor back...fury road is plot hole heaven...and as for Mel is too old thats bullshit ..mel was pretty good in expendibles and later in Blood father nothing that Tom hardy did in that movie was beyond what Mel could do ..also the film would have suited an older max anyways as Furiosa was the lead and max making the decisions ....sly stallone is just as good as an older Rambo and Rocky balboa ..And Harrison ford was just as good in the new blade runner along side Ryan gosling.
      Iconic roles should not be replaced.

    • @ForgottenHorrorchannel
      @ForgottenHorrorchannel 6 років тому +5

      Mr. Blitzer thats your opinion i prefer the original for continuity of the movie replacing Mel on the 4th movie was a mistake older mad max fans like me appreciate that time ages everyone nobody stays young forever as i said in Road Warrior they were aging him..so to have an aged max makes sense for the 4th movie. And as for picking Mel because of his popularity..he was un
      Known back in 77 when he was cast

    • @ForgottenHorrorchannel
      @ForgottenHorrorchannel 6 років тому +3

      Mr. Blitzer Again your opinion..fury road was written and meant to be for mel as an older max as a much older road warrior... you talk as if Mel is too old to walk...as said he did just as much in blood father as hardy did in fury road proving he could have done that role easy... replacing mel made fury road confusing with older fans of the original trilogy...how can it be a young road warrior when its after thunderdome?? .. there is no answer but a huge plot hole.. if Mel had of been in this it would have been correct to millers original plot and a much better movie instead of the mess hybrid it is. I like it as an action movie and i like tom hardy as an actor but it was no way a mad max movie.

    • @ForgottenHorrorchannel
      @ForgottenHorrorchannel 6 років тому +2

      Mr. Blitzer it would be much better with mel (for me)..as he made that role audiences know him from the trilogy
      mel could have done everything in fury road that hardy did..but if you look at the original script and ideas on fury road it was written for a much older max because of Gibson's age
      Its your opinion that mel would have ruined it you seem to believe that max would never age in the time after thunderdome ( ..but for me hardy is not in the same league as Gibson )..replacing gibson has been a mistake even george miller has admitted it after he watched it with mel at the premier.yes we have different opinions im sorry if i come across insulting but Mad Max is my fav movie im a bit of a purist.

    There weren't "allegedly" anti-Semitic comments; there WERE anti-Semitic comments. Mel's voice was captured by the police officer's recording device, and the statements in the police report went uncontested in court. Mel later apologized for what he said. Too many people (especially in the media) misuse the term "allegedly." It is no longer alleged once it has been established.

    6:30 This is a common misconception, Hollywood didn't have that much influence over MMBT.
    The character of Aunty Entity was written with Tina Turner in mind to begin with but Miller and Hayes didn't even think they could get her to play the role. Until they asked. And she agreed.
    On top of it all there was a bunch of kids that were untrained actors and very persistent Angry Anderson who wanted to play Ironbar. Angry was really keen on playing his role and eventually got it, but it wasn't Hollywood's decision. The marketing that followed most likely could've been though, although I'm almost certain nobody held a gun to Tina's head to write those songs for Thunderdome.

      Mad Max Bible Yeah i think you did a better job on subject. You deserve more subs.

    •  6 років тому +4

      Hollywood has almost ZERO influence over any of Miller's Max films. Fury Road is, for all intents and purposes, the most expensive independent film ever mad. When the studio tried to exert control over Miller, he'd always find a way to fuck them. For instance, they refuesed to give him the budget he requested, so instead of cutting back he just filmed as much of the movie as he could with the budget provided (essentially the entiree chase with none of the opening and closing plot segments) and then submitted it to the studio saying, "This is how much I could make. You better pony up the cash to film the rest or you won't have amovie." The studio didn't have any choice but to agree.
      The ONLY major capitulation Miller made was to add "Mad Max" prominently to the title - something he originally didn't want. You could make the argument that dropping Mel from the movie after the first production was canceled due to the Iraq War was a studio capitulation, but ultimately I think Miller knew as much as anyone that Mel was too volatile and, to be honest, too old for the role.

    • @MadMaxBible
      @MadMaxBible 6 років тому +4

      You seem to be in the know. However, Mad Max always meant to be in the title. Hollywood had much control over everything 'around' Fury Road, meaning the side plots, the video game and the CGI anime that never came to be. That is what they took hold of and messed up majorly. There's also another story about Miller's plan to film Fury Road in Australia and how it collided with Happy Feet 2. I believe that is why Miller and WB are arguing over the budget right now.

  • @saraphys5555

    As an Aussie, and knowing about WB's treatment of the Kiwi cast of The Hobbit... Im inclined to believe Miller more then WB on the claims being made. WB practically ruined the NZ film industry by "buying" the previous government, which has ended up hurting many Kiwi actors internationally.

      Mr. Blitzer I guess you don't have good reading comprehension, as my contention was that Fury Road felt like it was set in a *_generic_* post-apocalyptic desert, and not an *_Australian_* post-apocalyptic desert like in the first two Mad Max films.

      Mr. Blitzer I know what Australian wilderness and desert looks like because I've lived there, and most people in Australia and New Zealand are familiar with the look and feel of it too.
      It's not just the setting that feels Americanised, but also the characters too. Sure, a lot of them sound Australian, but they sure-as-shit don't feel Australian. I guess if the two leads were played by actual Australians I'd be a lot warmer towards the movie.

    Honestly, the fact that we even got a Max Mad film in the 2010s that didn't fall flat in its face is more than enough; I wouldn't even be upset if there is no sequel. Miller has made a clear statement on how to make a decent action film at a time when studios believe that they can get by with passable but creatively sterile movies. It's a personal victory, and that's all that matters.

    Mad Max - the original 1977 movie was made as a independent. That is, was and remains, the ONLY way to get a director's ideas and movie out there just the way the director/writer envisioned it. Compare Citizen Kane. Once the 'bean counter' at the studios get involved you end up with a horse designed by committee which looks an awful lot like a camel.

Say what you will about Disney st least they've delivered in Marvel and Star Wars. They may not be perfect, but they do consistently put out entertaining films. WB needs to seriously rethink their strategy and quit shooting themselves in the foot.

    I was fine with Fury Road (Charleze Theron is awesome. But my problem with it was that Max was pretty much pointless to it all. The first three movies, Max served as a sort of touchstone. Especially with The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome, he wandered into the plot but became integral to it. In Fury Road, I don't think it would have mattered if he was there or not. Sure, of course you needed someone to play "Mad Max" but otherwise, who cares? The frustrating part of this movie was that it was so well done! I looked past the fact that Max was pretty much pointless to the story (you could have had a Furiosa movie). The world building in the entire series is amazing. I just with they could have done something different with Fury Road. Or hey, why not have Mel Gibson reprise his role as an aging Mad Max. Psychotic Nazi rantings aside, I think he could still pull it off.

      Fury Road was one of those movies where I loved it when I first saw it in theaters but upon second and third viewing I loved it little bit less each time.
      Don't get me wrong, it's still a awesome well-done action flick with some of the best car stunts ever placed on film, but I still place The Road Warrior above it due to it's grim gritty aesthetic and silent movie feel. Fury Road has too much of that bright cartoony gloss over it for my liking but that's just me. I really like Tom Hardy as an actor, but I thought he was a weak Max.
      It's lack of continuity with the previous three movies also kinda sours the experience for me somewhat.

    • @WakenerOne
      @WakenerOne 6 років тому +2

      Laura, I'll see you and go you one further: In Road Warrior and Thunderdome, you have a template for how events become legends. Max, a forgotten man passing through history, ends up being integral to the establishment of several catchpockets of civilization (The Tribes of the North, the Tribe who Left--aka New Sydney--and even to a lesser degree The Tribe Who Stayed (if they survived for more generations) and even Bartertown, though obviously Auntie was far more integral. The Max of those movies isn't LOOKING to wander; he wants a place to belong just as much as anyone, but by doing the right thing in the end, he sacrifices his opportunity to be a part of the new civilizations even as he guarantees that they will exist. And they remember him. The Feral Kid grows up to be the Chief of the Tribes of the North, and Max is a part of their lore. He is enshrined in the Tell of the Tribe Who Left, who go so far as to establish a tradition of lighting the city to guide him to them. No doubt it guides others there, and they, too, learn of Max through the Tell. In any case, Max the man becomes less important over time as Max the Wanderer becomes the legend, no less an iconic character than, say, the Stranger is to our legendarium.
      Max, of course, is not welcome in Bartertown--the town is not big enough for him and Auntie if she is to rebuild it. But once Master is gone, she has no reason to be Max' enemy, hence her almost warm farewell to him. Bartertown will also remember him as a wanderer, though perhaps differently. In 200 years, someone studying legends will hear of Max, the Wanderer, who planted the seeds of civilization, but never was fated to put down roots himself.
      Fury Road throws this out the window. This is why I'm one of those people who take the stance that the Max of Fury Road is NOT the Max of the original trilogy. He's another Max, and he wanders, and in 200 years, that scholar will be hard-pressed to spot the difference, but it can be done. One of the most telling things is that the Max of Fury Road has absolutely NO REASON to leave at the end--but does. Max Rockatansky wanted a place to belong. He would have stayed with Papagallo's people. He TRIED to stay with the children, but could not abandon the Tribe Who Left to their fates in the desert. In the end, the only reason he stays to face Auntie is that the plane will never be able to leave while he's aboard. But the Max of Fury Road leaves on his own once the adventure is over. He is also not the catalyst for the formation of a civilization. For a time, people who were there might say "Hey, remember that guy--?" But in 200 years, he will not be a figure of legend to this tribe.

    • @nerychristian
      @nerychristian 6 років тому +2

      Maybe the Max of 'Fury Road' was the real Max. And the Max in the previous films is the Max created from Legends. The women who Max helped in Fury Road, eventually had children. And these women would tell them the stories of a man named Max who helped them to survive and become a powerful nation. So in a sense, Fury Road is a prequel.

    • @Xegethra
      @Xegethra 6 років тому +3

      I was thinking something like that, him being a legend could mean that all the stories we see, or at least most of them are retellings of his legend from a third party. Road Warrior had a narrator after all....The feral kid I think....so that film could just be him telling us it, telling us what he saw and what others told him and maybe filling in gaps to tell a tale. Maybe that's why the series can get away with such inconsistencies, as real legends are like that too, hell even real events are. Perhaps Fury Road never happened, maybe it was all made up by campfire...maybe it was real but legend depicts it differently.
      I realise this could mask lazy continuity, but at least we can get more varied stories from it as opposed to something with such tight structure where inconsistencies are just there.

    I can give you a little insight as to why Mad Max 3 didn't do well in Australia and it's really quite simple, we fucking hated it! It looked , sounded and smelled like a Hollywood piece of shit and it pissed us off. So we stayed away from the theatres. The general consensus was that we had a fantastic film series taken away from us and watered down to better suit the (and I'm sorry to use this terminology) dim-witted, popcorn munching American idiots. I remember how hard it was pushed through TV advertising, we'd see an ad for it nearly every commercial break. It still did nothing as we all stayed away. A real pity as we all could see it going in an even more dark and violent direction, exactly what we wanted.
    Again, I have to say you guys do a fantastic job with this channel and you have a fan for life!!!

    I don't believe Mad Max is Mad Max without Miller, and I'm afraid at this point he doesn't have another film in him - not a MM film at any rate. Suing the studio certainly doesn't do it any favors. This is depressing because the series is like one of the last bastions of true old school filmmaking. And a MM entry by anyone else is very unlikely to have that spirit behind it, let alone the experience.

    Friendly reminder, of the Box Office Hollywood only gets 60% on average from US and 40% overseas. This means the movie made: $92,435,004 in the US and $89,920,000 Foreign for a total of only $182,355,004. (Note: this figure greatly depends on the deals struck with Chinese distributors. There is a likely chance the figure is lower, but unless we are purview to the details of the contract with them it'll go unknown and we'll have to assume best case.) After Reshoots and Marketing the movie didn't turn a profit or nearly anywhere approaching what Warner wanted it to gross. Previously Midnight Edge speculated on a rumor that stated the movie under performed and they didn't know why it would have been considered that despite the box office, well that's why.

    I must have missed it, but, who owns the rights to the Mad Max IP? Miller or the studio? If it's Miller then he can always go to another studio although I assume it wouldn't be any different. Also, nobody is waiting to see a Mad Max movie that doesn't star Mad Max. I did see Fury Road for a long time because it just didn't seem that good, when I finally did it was pretty damn good, my point is I've heard a lot of people say the same thing but for various reasons and I doubt that if it took Fury Road this long to catch on I really think a movie about Furiosa would fair even worse. MUCH worse.
    Also, love Tom Hardy. One of the fwe actors that I see actually take his profession seriously.

    WB is shady as fuck! All you need to do is take a look at the DCEU. Producers wanted their pay day bonus, so they didn’t push the Justice League. Just gotta pay Miller his bonus and hope he stays for a 5th and spin offs.

    While I'm sad to hear there will be no Mad Max movies coming out soon...I can believe that movies or TV shows in the 'Mad universe' will reappear in the future...maybe even in anime...

    Thunderdome was a cheesy cartoon of it's previous incarnations ... nobody in Australia liked it when it came out - I still haven't bothered watching it in it's entirety to this day and I knew people who were in it. We pretend it doesn't exist basically ... Mad Max I and II are it ...

    Road Warrior is the end of the story. The latest Mad Max film had too much of that asinine feminist cultural marxist subplot bullshit messing-up all of the mindblowing action sequences.

    Warner Brothers always get in between the Director and filming of these great movies....why the fuck do they do that for...I read in articles that over the past 25 years WB have messed up movies that if they never got in the middle of production the movies would have been Soo good it would have won a lot of awards and made a lot more money..If I was a producer I would clearly tell them if they want me to make this film you can not show up out of no where and make demands that will make movie look and seem totally different than what I was gonna make...now the movie sucks and my future in filming is gonna be Soo much harder to get work or get paid what I deserve.. Harvey winstein is the same thing with him and that company

    Maybe its better this way. Mad Max would become diluted much in the same manner as Star Wars. It took 20 years to come up with the script for Fury Road. Maybe a 5 or 6 year break is best.

    Lol, studios will never learn that they are in no way Expert Artists. A Proven Director with a vision needs the freedom to bring his/her movies to fruition and bring the studios money. Most studios greatly limit directors as well as themselves from higher earnings, lol.

    Idk, who the guy with the accent is but he really decreases the quality of your videos to the point that if I didn't stumble upon this by accident I would never have watched it. Not being a dick... Just when I learned what channel I was watching and knowing that other videos featured that guy it really didn't have an interest to come back to the point that this slipped through the plugin I had in place to block this channel.

    They ran into too many hidden plot problems in beyond Thunder Dome. Like whats the story about the kids, Where did they come from, what happen to the rest of the kids when the others decided take off in the Dune to go try to save the 2 kids swallowed up in the sand then left with max to go investigate the forbidding city in the wasteland desert.
