No it's pretty real. Why anyone would go there creatively well I can't help you.
Dcau did it. During the Cadmus arc of justice league unlimited. See, it's all about execution
I still would had loved a snort of that. We were robbed of Jodorowsky's version of Dune and what ever this Super Man acid trip would had been. I really liked that guy's attitude. I think he would of crammed anything in there. A mechanical spider, a two headed T-Rex. Leonard Nimoy as a wolf-a-gator. These creative flows happen when people stay up to late, start talking about strange stuff and no one puts a stop to it, until it is out of control.
You gotta love the naming conventions for these movies and how ironic it became once they were canned. Justice League Mortal? Yeah it was proven mortal. Superman Lives? Not anymore.
Ad embarassing as the Halloween sequels being unintentionally named after the Pink Panther sequels (Return, Revenge, and Curse)

Justice League is the cancelled project that intrigues me the most. I still remember reading news and rumors about the production of that film back in the day. Boy oh boy i wonder how different superhero movies would be today if a Justice League movie made by the director of Mad Max had come out before Iron Man and The Avengers.
It would have been fascinating. And if it worked then maybe Marvel would have had to speed things along and maybe even they would be in the dirt.
@Tony Campuzzano Did Affleck's presence save either BvS or Justice League? Not at all. He was seen as competent in the role but Gadot's Wonder Woman and Miller's Flash are the only ones who actually made any lasting impression on audiences. And he will not even be involved in the solo film unless a miracle happens. So i would absolutely take Hammer's Batman over Affleck if it meant getting a much better franchise as a result.
@Tony Campuzzano never said it would've been good, i just said it intrigues me. And regardless if it was a success or failure it still could've changed how superhero movies are made today
@Tony Campuzzano Nope. The TDK reception impacted the future of the JL movie, so that was never the case.
I had forgot about the Jack Black Green Lantern movie. I'm glad it never was made.
It sounds like the stuff of nightmares. Like a really shitty deadpool knock off.
@@SuperWolsey Yeah. Which means they would have really messed up the tone.
Tyler Bioshock Rodriguez I'll give Schmigel credit though. He didn't have Jack's character be named either Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner. That'd been one more on the list of offenses
@@SuperWolsey Yeah at least he didnt soil a well known character.
WB: family friendly movies are more profitable

I like Nick cage but no way he could play superman. He ain't the superman type so I am glad it was never made.
If you watch the documentary they made about it, his approach to the character was actually pretty interesting. It would have worked within the context of that movie.
Honestly dude, it's not just about the actors, it's also about the crew. Even with Henry Cavill's talents, he had at least one moment in every DC movie he was in that made him the laughing stock of the internet. In the same token, Ben Affleck turned out to be a much better Batman than i expected, but he still abandoned ship of his own volition, after JL.
Superman and Batman both are THE biggest and most frequently revisited/retconned roles in all of cinema, by a huge margin. If you want to breathe new life in these roles, sometimes you gotta hire someone people normally wouldn't expect, and will even petition against. People made fun of Heath Ledger's Joker all day initially, now he's arguably the greatest actor to have ever played Joker, or ever will again. Cage would certainly be more interesting as Clark Kent than Robert Pattinson would be as Batman, in any case.
Oh Warner Brother, always chasing 3 rabbits(fans, merchandise and cheapness) and never making anything.
All these mistakes are like burned turkey. They kept burning all the ideas until nothing remaind. This is what happens when people who never read comics or take it seriously make movies.
Just like Star Wars and Star Trek DC comic movies are being led by people who don't care about the source material or the fans
What you are saying is DC should have made 30 movies like Marvel to develop the characters. As a DC fan, I am glad they didn't do that, but I know the characters and storyline. Making more movies would have helped the non DC fans.
I have yet to see a live-action superhero movie or TV show that TRULY captures the spirit of a superhero comic book. The animated movies and TV series get it right ROUTINELY, but the live-action productions seem incapable of getting it right.
Even if they never picked up a comic in their lives, what could've possessed the studio into thinking the Jack Black Green Lantern was a good idea? There's being disrespectful to the source material, and then there's this. Even Superman Lives seemed less awful.
Shame we never got Batman Unchained or Justice League Mortal though. It sounds like they could've been interesting movies. At least better than most of the DCEU tripe.
It seems it's usually about friends trying to keep each other employed and nepotism why else would Robert Smigel drop Jack Black's name? It's never necessarily about who's best for the role but who will get people into the seats...
@@snatchadams69 yet I don't go for jack Black, he'd be the last person I'd wanna see a movie for...well next to George Clooney and a handful of others, I don't find him funny at all and don't see the appeal....
I highly doubt that a sequel to Batman & Robin could've been a more interesting movie than Batman Begins.
How exactly disrespectful would that Green Lantern parody be? I'm genuinely curious, because I have never found GL interesting to begin with. What does it stand for so noble and sacred that a Jack Black comedy would inevitably be disrespectful no matter what else?
@@Kaucukovnik666 With the exception of a few characters, Green Lantern doesn't lend itself to comedy quite as well as other DC properties. A more comedic tone for the movie could work, but going as far as using giant condoms is way too extreme, and would not sit well with most fans. As for Black, I'm not against him being in the film if he were put in the right role, but I can't really see him as any of the main Lanterns.
Even if a franchise doesn't seem all that important to you or me, there are still people that care deeply about it. Take Transformers for example. I'm a casual fan of it at best, but I can still sympathize with those who feel the Michael Bay films have been an insult. Would you be fine with a property you hold dear being treated like a complete joke?
I wish Justice League Mortal happened. That would’ve been a really cool movie.
Warner Bros also has a bad habit of announcing too many movies too. They literally push aside Green Lantern Corps and The Flash movie for other pointless films like a Harley Quinn and Joker movie and damn Batgirl and other sh*t.
A Batgirl movie would make sense. It's those Joker and Harley movies that are completely pointless. Those have caused me to hate Harley even more
Yet Marvel Studio announced MCU films until 2025, years in advance. What's the difference?
Dale Henderson The difference is that we don’t know what those movies could be. Also we know that Marvel Studios, unlike WB, don’t rush things. You see I think Dc wants to have a good cinematic universe but WB is screwing them over. They keep trying to push forward their projects when they aren’t always ready. Look at Suicide Squad. That movie sure as hell wasn’t ready and yet they put it out anyway. Studio Interference is why Dc can’t always have great films. Because WB is pulling too hard on the leash.
I agree and I think that DC needs to start their own studios like Marvel has, where they have more control.
As for your first point, why can't they have origin films for Black Widow or Nick Fury? They feature in a lot of MCU films, but little is known about them.
Scarlett Johansenn and Samuel L Jackson have helmed successful films before, and it being a MCU film would guarantee success. Yet they were introduced in Iron Man films and Avengers without having a standalone film.
We don't need any more individual Superman or Batman films, and they have been done many times (I know they weren't DCU, but their origins are the same regardless) and Wonder Woman and Aquaman have been successful as standalone films. JL didn't fail because they didn't have individual DC films for each character first.
I agree but Batgirl was actually pretty good. I do wish JLM happened too though
Great video guys, only thing left out was the script for the George Miller justice league movie was leaked online not long after it was announced and if I remember correctly the internet as a whole turned against it hard.
Not long after WB cancelled it.

In cases like that it was probably WB covering its track and more or less going see? You didnt want it.
The Jack Black story gave me cancer

Michael Rooker as Lex Luther? Hmmm ......... that sounds like a good match!
I heard that’s why he was bald in Mallrats. Wanted to play a Lex Luthor type character.
Man, I feel so bad for Joel Schumacher. The guy wasn't really at fault at all! He even wanted to please the fanbase!
Tony Campuzzano I’m hoping zack can finish his he already said there’s a cut but it would cost a lot of money for the cgi
Danny DeVito is an underrated Penguin. Though this could be a battle royale between the Penguin and the the Trashman.
"it's my character! I'm the Trashman! I come out and throw trash all o-- all over-- all over the ring! And _then--_ I start eating from the *gawbahge."*
I still think Burgess Meredith as the Penguin in the 60's "Batman" TV series is the ultimate version, though.
TVBForever I think if Batman Returns came out at a later time, people would've been more accepting of it. It's a very atmospheric film, and a lot of people rejected it because of preconceived notions and, admittedly, it's not that family friendly. I wouldn't recommend it to children.

Wow that was great, so much info. I would liked to have seen justice league mortal. Great job guys ,I love this channel
Justice League Mortal sounds like the Justice League Movie we should've gotten. It sounded reasonable. Big takeaway for me was that WB routinely allows profit and merchandising to be the central players instead of plot or character. I'm a little surprised we've gotten even the half decent films we have from them with this in mind.
DC were decades ahead of Marvel at one time and were making successful Batman movies when Marvel almost filed for bankruptcy. Fate can be a cruel mistress for some and an omen for others. Warner became too greedy and thus lost site of a true, coherent vision that could've kick started a shared DC cinematic universe years before Iron Man.
Let's put it this way, if Warner had played ball with their directors and script writers then we would've probably had a Justice League movie years before 2008's Iron Man. (excluding Justice League Mortal)
Even today Warner hasn't a clue as to what they want from a live action DC cinematic universe. This was clearly shown with the releases of 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. My opinion of those films is that they came too early and they should've slowly introduced mainstream audiences to the main members of the league through separate movies. Each movie would introduce audiences to the hero, who they are, how they got their powers, the origin story and of course their arch enemy. Now here's where things start to get interesting, one of the members of the league is keeping watch of these other heroes from a distance in each film, just like Marvel with Nick Fury, this mystery hero doesn't get fully noticed at first, though subtle hints are dropped at the end of the every film via post credit scenes. By the time of the last solo film of a main Justice League character it is revealed who that mystery hero was and why he or she has been watching them this whole time.
That's when you introduce the Justice League!
"But that's a blatant copy of the MCU formula?" Exactly, but just because Marvel did it, doesn't mean that its a trademark move. Warner, in my opinion, need to start again from scratch and this time reflect upon what it is about superhero movies that draw in an audience and fans alike. Its not just about how flashy Superman's outfit can look on a toy, its also about how you treat the characters and your story is going to move them forward. What drives Superman to protect Lois Lane and Metropolis from crime and evil? What drives Lex Luthor to commit atrocities and hate Superman for the good that he has done for the people of Metropolis and the rest of the world?
Warner can find those answers, but first they need to understand what it means to create this world.
BvS is awesome and a fresh take on how super heroes are introduced. Remember that Zack Snyders movies would have been like 4-5, no more, but it would open up for other directors to do their stuff both meanwhile and after. MCU is a fkn tv-show.
It is indeed a fresh new take on how superheroes are introduced, I will not dispute that, however, audience reception speaks for itself. That film needed more fighting against Superman and Batman, after all, that's what the movie was marketed for. Wonder Woman breaking up the fight and showing them that a much bigger danger was imminent [Doomsday] was a also a very good thing too, however, it shouldn't have been Doomsday.
Warner rushed Doomsday into the DCCU.
The MCU is doing just fine in the movie department as of now. With phase 3 coming to a close, its hard to tell who Marvel's next big baddie is going to be, but with Fox returning their Marvel properties, it could very well be Galactus.
@@The80sWolf_ BVS was awesome but I think it would done better if it came out 7 movies later and after Justice League 1-2.
@@lewisbianco8951 Your complains are faults because of the studio, not the director though.
I would have preferred Justice League Mortal over what we got. Here is hoping that the Shazam movie is good.
@Tony Campuzzano Joss Whedon's last minute add-ins didn't make or break that film. The Snyder cut still sucked.
@Tony Campuzzano Well, he did BVS, and Man Of Steel, plus it is well known what Whedon added to the film, and Zack explained what his cut was, so yeah, anyone with half a brain can figure it out. But I guess you need to be spoon fed.
After seeing the trailers, no way Shazam can be taken seriously. Given technology, it might have better effects but it presents as way to slapstick to have any seriousness. What is the scoop on Dwayne Johnson playing Black Adam? He was slated to have his own movie after Shazam, but how can they get serious with a "kid's" take on Shazam. Just get us back to the 1970s series for plot, maybe add Isis to the mix???
Tony Campuzzano NO! Man of Steel goes against everything comic book Superman stands for. Batman V Superman was crap too. Doomsday looked like a cave troll crossed with a Bay Turtle with spikes. Jesse Luthor is whiny and annoying. The movie is garbage.
I'd love to see a George Miller directed Justice League film. You just know it would be a visual feast. Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter would have been interesting to see as well.
That Jack Black Green Lantern movie sounded like it wouldn't been a good idea.
Sounded to crazy to me.
And the superman lives with Nicolas Cage couldn't look the part.
Even from the pictures it looked like nic cage got off a 3 day meth binge.
Imagine the Jack Black movie based on a newly created hero that was simply inspired by Green Lantern with a story following a similar pattern of Galaxy Quest. If the script was decent, that seems like it could be really enjoyable.
Before the narrator even mentioned that I was thinking the same thing. It was NOT a Green Lantern movie that was described, but it could have been a really good comedy in the vein of Galaxy Quest.
Even with an original character, nah to that entire shitshow of an idea.
Space dogs for merchandising...Gay R2D2 with attitude...Braniac fighting a polar bear and Superman fighting a Giant Spider....yeah
"It's a Giant Spider Invasion of savings at Menard's!"
Where my MSTies at? :)
The Jack Black Green Lantern movie would've been a joke & a disaster, but would've better worked if it were made w/a brand new superhero or a more jokey character like Plastic Man.
I think the "Shazam" film should be done with Plastic Man instead, but the tone of the DCU movies (dark and broody) doesn't lend itself to this type of film.
This video arrived like a Christmas Gift for me (you are just epic!) Merry Christmas from Stockholm.
Man, the plot of that Batman Unchained flick sounds intriguing AF. Damn shame it wasn't made.
Yeah. I dont know if it would have been great but it would have been interesting. If they had gotten all the actors back for that one scene it would have been cool. Though Tommy Lee Jones coming back was probably near zero percent likely.
Tyler Bioshock Rodriguez True and that's whether or not we'd seen his and Riddler's suits hanging around in storage in B&R. Though the fact the Two Face suit was there does kinda give two avenues: 1) a simple Easter Egg or 2) contrary to the watery jagged below, Harvey is alive but currently comatose.
More interesting is the Unchained/Triumphant script's Arkham doesn't included Freeze and/or Ivy unless that was gonna be a costumed easter egg like the previous

Mr. Fedora Re: Vic and Helena- that's all thanks to Greg Rucka from his Batman and Huntress 6-issue mini back in 2000
But yeah, the 'Brubara"crap came from Timm's Misconstruing of how Adam West's Bruce and Yvonne Craig's Barbara were handled on Batman S3. Espescially being the big factors being 1) Julie Newmar was busy with her participation in McKenna's Gold (though her body double did come back for the penultimate episode with Ida Lupino and Howard Duff before the series finale w/ Zsa Zsa Gabor) & Eartha Kitt as Catwoman pretty much didn't sit well with Southern viewers barring her now legendary Anti-War chat at the White House by the time her 2nd and final Feline outing in the Catwoman and Joker 2 parter airing around that time.
Even the one panel of Batgirl's first appearance showed Dick, not Bruce, consoling her when she blamed herself for letting Killer Moth escaped. Whether Timm (or Brian Azzarello or the boys behind the Arkham games) come to tems with this or not, far as men in her life, Barbara Gordon will always be tied to Dick Grayson and Jason Bard (or the Ted Kord Blue Beetle of you're Chuck Dixon) and always then. *YOU HEAR ME, ROCKSTEADY?!?
Mr. Fedora Comic wise, Dick and Starfire were to be married but Raven then fully embracing her cosmic demonic side (i.e. Trigon) disrupted the ceremony and well, the rest is history. The 1991-1996 period was the dying days of the New Titans before the 1996-98 team and the Titans run from '99-03

This is why modern Nolan fans need to give Tim Burton's Batman a break. He was challenged by the studio on every turn for his dark interpretation. But he paved the way so that you all could get the Nolan version that you love so much.
Wis Dom Plus even Nolan had his faults (recommending Snyder to Horn, Robinov and co in partcular)
You don't even need to look that far in the future, Batman the Animated Series was greatly inspired by Burton's gothic world when creating the show's art deco style. The success of that series led to an entire cartoon universe that is beloved. It makes no sense to hate Burton when so many great things came from his films and changed the public perception that Batman was inherently campy.

Of Marvel, its only mainstream media hits in the 70's and 80's was the animated "Spiderman" TV show, and the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno "Incredible Hulk" TV series. Most of the other heroes were unknown to most of the population until the first "Ironman" film (If Tom Cruise had done his proposed "Ironman" film in the 80's, it might have been different).
DC tv shows are still doing better than Marvel's, as "Supergirl", "Green Arrow" and "Flash" on CW rate better than failed Marvel projects like "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage" which can't find a TV station to carry it, so they need to have Netflix make it instead.

Would have given my right arm to see a Justice League movie directed by the guy who directed the Mad Max films. I love the Mad Max series. Speaking of Aquaman, this calls for a History of retrospective coming soon
Jon Peters was not simply hired as a producer by WB, but is in fact the actual holder of the Superman movie license lost by Cannon when they went bankrupt in 1989, according to the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? It's never stated how he acquired the movie rights, only that WB couldn't make the movie without him at that time. There was no mention of the television rights, since that's not what the documentary was about. That said however, it looks like the Salkinds only sold the movie rights to Cannon, and kept the television rights to themselves, since they produced the TV series Superboy (1988-92) after Cannon's Superman IV (1987). At some point shortly after Superboy ended, WB took the Salkinds to court in order to reacquire the rights and won (hence the lack of the Salkinds participation on Lois & Clark), but I've been unable to find any verifiable details regarding the settlement.
I wish Justice League Mortal got made.
So, Nicholas Cage still got paid, even though the film was never made (that's what 'pay or play' means, right?). If so, good for him. I know he is a huge comics fan, and would have given his heart and soul to the role if it continued, so it must have been a let down for him when it wasn't made.

RIP Robin Williams, too bad we weren't smart enough to make you joker. Seriously, I've seen his scarier roles, that would give dark night joker a run for it's money if they gave him enough freedom. But then we might not have gotten dark night, a frightening thought.
The story is when WB first approached Jack Nicholson for the Joker, he turned it down. Robin Williams volunteered for the part cause he really wanted it. WB used this as a way to get Jack. That pissed Robin off because he felt they used him. This happened again with Jim Carrey and the role of the Riddler. I imagine Robin would've worked a lot cheaper than Jack and would probably asked to be in sequels instead getting killed off in the first movie. He even wanted to be the Joker again for The Dark Knight. The dude wanted to be Joker more than anybody.
@bigevilworldwide1 Personally I prefer Robin as the Joker cause Robin can do dramatic and dark character if given a chance.

I heard that he wanted to play Riddler as well in BF, but he planned on playing him as a more dark, tortured character (a bit like his character in "One Hour Photo") whereas they cast Carrey because he was big at the box office at the time, and he was going to play it more like Frank Gorshin's version from the 60's "Batman", which is what the studio was more aiming for.
So Williams missed out because he actually wanted to play a multi-faceted, deeper, Riddler.
It's like WB just don't have a handle on making consistent comic book movies. For every hit like the first two Donner Superman films, Wonder Woman and Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, there's always duds like Schumacher Batman films, Green Lantern, and Zack Synder's DCEU. It's like the studio just runs on indecisiveness.
I would like a documentary on Jon Peters
He is truly a character in and of itself. You can blame Stesiand for him even going anywhere.
Tyler Bioshock Rodriguez Parker and Stone were right and we didn't believe them. WHY DIDN'T WE BELIEVE THEM?!?
And Leonard Maltin
The documentary Superman Lives talks about him and he himself is interviewed in it. Also, Kevin Smith covered him in his standup. Try searching "kevin smith superman"
Studio: "we have a movie."
The Rock: "Yes."
No wonder DC is such a mess.
How ironic that DCAU's _Justice Unlimited_ League did the Lex Luthor and Branic merging years after Superman Lives made a concept idea out of it.
That concept actually dates back to the comics story “Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?” by Alan Moore.
Alpha Jay 3.0 yes, you should read it. It’s really good. My favorite Superman story.
No. Joel Schumacher could not have redeemed himself with another film. Put it this way: could Rian Johnson have redeemed himself with that trilogy that he was promised? Nope.
At least Schumacher admitted he made mistakes and didn't attack the fans
He seems quite genuine in his apologies for BnR. He didnt wanna make it. Hell this was what he wanted. I dont know if the fanbase would have accepted it but I would have given it a shot. That being said Courtney Love would have been awful to watch.
To be fair to Schumacher, he'd probably would've made a far better Episode 8 and be more respectful to the material and fans. Something Johnson fails in at every level to where with his mental capacity shouldn't even be involved in filmmaking at all let alone be a playwright
Tyler Bioshock Rodriguez eh... I'd take her over Madonna as Harley. Hell, it'd been alot worst had the WB slotted Triumphant/Unchained for a 2000 release and shoehorned Britney Spears
clearspira the difference was Joel’s film was UNANIMOUSLY hated. Where as The Last Jedi still has a solid amount of people who responded positively
Justice League Mortal sounded really good. Of course we can't know for sure, but I have a hunch it would have been a big improvement to what we ended up getting. Namely because the story was written before the writers strike which seemed to have made Hollywood movies worse as studios thought they could skimp out on the script.
I don't know how great it would have been.
Megan Gale can't act, Armie Hammer is bland in everything I have seen him in, Common would only work if he plays Jon Stewart Green Lantern.
Fair points though some people think Gal Gadot cannot act yet people love her Wonder Woman.
When Joel Schumacher's followup to Batman & Robin is the project that shows the most promise, you know you're in deep trouble. One wonders how any of this arglebargle lasted longer than a wet fart in a cold wind. Zack Snyder may be an arrogant hack but Jon Peters sounds like someone who shouldn't be entrusted with cleaning a truck stop bathroom, let alone making a multi-million-dollar movie. Keep him out of office.
Justice League: Mortal's script was a bit overstuffed but I think George Miller could have made it work. Miller isn't just an Oscar winning director, he's also an Oscar nominated screenwriter. He probably could have ironed out most of the problems with the script if WB just gave him the creative control.
This is true and he can work well with different tones. From Babe 2 to Fury Road.
Nonsense that fact that it goes all out makes it better the forming of the League is a massive event counter to what we got where they treat it as just smallest of outings.
Will Smith as superman..."I mean damnn"
"developed cold feet"
hahaha excellently subtle ice-pun.
I respect Kevin Smith, he's a great writer/director, but after hearing what Smith wanted to do to Superman, PLEASE GOD don't let Smith have anything to do with any Superhero movies.
There really wasnt a good script version of what Peter's wanted. Quinten Tarantino couldn't please that bastard.
@bigevilworldwide1 they weren't factually good. They were quite late for Batman. And his Daredevil is middling.
That Batman Uncaged could've been pretty cool. I like the idea of Batman seeing all the villains in a hallucination.
There's a link of Kevin Smith talking about that Superman movie. its funny.
The animated movie Superman Doomsday has Kevin Smith do a cameo in which he criticizes the giant robot spider from Superman Lives.
It had potential to be one of the biggest most amusing messes made. Even as it stands it's one of the craziest making of stories. The fact Jon Peter's was attached to anything superman up to Man of Steel is frankly horrifying.
That JLA mortal sounds really good...!
Pikachu and Green Lantern? Yeah, like that would ever happen!
Harley would be Joker's daughter? Well what do you expect from the same people that made Barbara Alfred's niece?
The saddest thing about both Superman Lives and Unchained. Is they both got canned again 2 decades later. Cause after the success of the documentary about the making of Superman lives. Kevin Smith pitched doing his script as a direct to video animated film. Bring back in Burton,Cage, Chris Rock, and Kevin Spacey. With rumors being if it did well then Batman Unchained as an animated movie would be greenlit. But then after all the Kevin Spacey me too drama went down. WB instead of just recasting Lex with one of the other actors rumored to play him in 98. Scrapped the movie again.
Yeah it's a pity. I would have liked to see them make it to big screen in some form.
I've watched this video so many times and still find it super interesting
I heard Terry Gilliam was going to direct Watchmen in the early 90's!
Terry seems to be almost as bad as Del Toro when it comes to coulda been projects.
Wally Gator though he said the book was unfilmable. Zack Snyder begged to differ of course as did the rest of Hollywood
The script was written by Sam Hamm and Terry Gilliam was unhappy with his script!
Wally Gator Who could blame Gilliam? Hamm had a good grasp at Batman (he also wrote the 3 part Blind Justice arc for Detective Comics at the time of the movie's release in 1989) but reduced Alan Moore's revered work of art into a generic 2hr version of a unproduced episode of The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits.
You said "Goyer's Flash" and I almost cried. A generational epic film true to the character......................shame we'll never see it.
Great video. Very well put. Plus a few facts I didn't know about.
That Batman Year One movie by Aronofsky would have been.......something. Frank Miller even wrote the script but this was around the time Miller started losing his mind.
It would have been terrible since it would be more Rorschach than Batman. In this film, Batman would be some crazy hobo who would lack the skills Batman is known for. Alfred would be more like Earl Cooper from the Batman The Animated Series episode "The Mechanic". It would also be like what Linkara from AT4W theorizes what Frank Miller's All-Star Batman is, since his theory refers to that comics version of Batman as a hobo named "Crazy Steve" who stole Batman's costume and has started claiming he is Batman.
I would love to go back in time and get that superman movie made just so we would have had that batman cameo. I was SO hyped for that back in the day.
So the Jack Black Green Lantern movie is pretty much the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie that we're getting now
I ALWAYS wanted to see Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman directed by Tim Burton!
Sadly that's a film that will never see the light of day. :(
Do one for cancelled Marvel projects.
There are a few. Most notably Incredible Hulk 2 which is totally not happening now.
Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire and Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Ang Lee Hulk 2.
@@dericjames2018 Well when you say Marvel everyone thinks Disney Marvel. Before they got bought there was a good amount of failed projects.
Tyler Bioshock Rodriguez Or ever unless Feige and Iger make an offer Universal can't refuse.... then again, Donna Bradley is too stupid to take it anymore than Comcast...smh
*Just when I thought I knew the whole story. Great job Midnight's Edge.*
From the way he tells it, Kevin Smith had that "deer in headlights" look throughout most of his involvement with Superman Lives.
If Jon Peter's was my boss I'd probably have the same look as well.
@@LadyTylerBioRodriguez Truth! I'm not here to defend Smith, but Peters is a flake, and working with him is probably HELL.
WooooooooooW. Just the 'Superman Lives' story made my head spin. None of this shit I ever knew until now!
The cancelled Green Lantern movie sounds better than the 2011 film.
Domocracy Destroyer Jack Black would have made a better Plastic Man than Green Lantern.

And Justice League Mortal would have also failed because they were still trying to do it backwards then too. Universal's Dark Universe was a creative failure but it at least failed by moving in the right direction but starting with the "We'll do everything at once and then follow it up with what works for people with individual movies" approach just shows they didn't know what they were doing beyond Batman. And, again, it's less about actual content and more about marketing with these people, isn't it?
@@dhenderson1810 "Avengers:Civil War" ... am I supposed to respond to this? Fine. Nick Fury didn't get his own movie and his showing up out of the blue in...wait, he was in Iron Man which was the first movie. Black Widow was in Iron Man 2 prior to the Avengers and Hawkeye is a guy with a bow, that's his character, that's always been his character except when the writers got bored with him and took the bow away. He also showed up before the Avengers as a cameo in Thor. And once you set up a shared franchise then you can pop up with new characters, try out new characters anywhere you want while still doing new solo movies. And Hulk can't get his own movie these days because Universal owns part of the movie rights for solo Hulk films. So yeah.... facts...
X-Men was Fox and they were doing their own thing. They focused on Wolverine from the beginning, right from the first movie so much, they ouldn't decide on any other solo "Origin" movies. Speaking of "Origins"... They eventually managed a Deadpool film but that was only ironically connected to their X-Men films.
And the movie that introduced Spider-Man into the MCU was Captain America: Civil War.
But that is my point.
Black Widow and Nick Fury debuted in another hero's film. Not their own individual one.
Just because they appeared in a film prior to Avengers doesn't mean that they had their own films. Their characters weren't as explored as they would be in individual films, where they are the focus, not another hero's sidekicks.
Also, Wonder Woman and Batman popped up in "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" BEFORE "Justice League" came out. So, Batman and Wonder Woman appearing in a DCU film, when only Superman had had an individual film with "Man Of Steel" is no different to Black Widow and Nick Fury showing up in films before "Avengers". There is no difference.
Oh, there is one difference. Wonder Woman actually had her own film after "Justice League", and was the biggest-grossing DCU film (until the recent success of "Aquaman"). Appearing in two films before her own film didn't hurt WW at the box office. Aquaman appeared in JL, and his individual film is the biggest grossing DCU film ever.
DCU Batman film with Ben Affleck hasn't happened, just like a Mark Ruffalo Hulk film hasn't happened.
Black Widow hasn't had her own film, nor has Nick Fury. I see no reason for this, other than Marvel Studios don't know what to do with them, except have them fight alongside other heroes.
MCU don't have individual films anyway. They always have to stick another Marvel hero into the movie, making it a joint feature, rather than let a hero shine in their own adventure.
The only Spiderman film MCU did, "Homecoming" stuck Tony Stark in it (eventhough, from all the comic books, cartoons, TV shows and prior movies, I don't remember Tony Stark ever being part of things). So MCU couldn't even have a Spiderman film with only Spiderman in it. For all their faults, the Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield ones didn't need to stick other heroes in to make it interesting.
So, your arguments don't stack up, as both sides have had heroes appear in other films before a team-up one. When DC included WW in "Dawn Of Justice", her own film grossed at the box office. A "Black Widow" film hasn't even been made, and if it was, you can bet that they would shoehorn RDJ or someone else in, because they don't have confident that one hero can carry an entire film.
I love that you actually pronounce Lex Luthor's name correctly.
I liked Brandon Routh (sp?) as the character Superman... shame the movie wasn't done well.
C yup. Thanks for nothing Alan Horn. Im glad the non-Marvel movies at Disney are tanking or given poor work of mouth.
Alan Horn has control over the Disney remakes so he is sadly doing fine.
@bigevilworldwide1 Because the serious, edgy version that Snyder made was such a hit, right?
Justice League Mortal is so awesome man. I wish that would have been made. WB would have something to rival Disney if they had gone through with it.
WB is the reason why DCEU is suffering so much 🙄
JL Mortal had such a great potential, and a superior script than the JL we've got.
i Like Nic Cage As Super Man(it Looks Like Supe's Hit Rock Bottom🤣), But Then Ultimately Becomes A Better Person😎👍
Jack Black Would've Had 2Lose A Lot of Weight.
19.22-"He Sucks Lord"
21.38-That isn't Creepy Atall😳(Every One, Saaaaay He Heat Vision🤣📷)
Totally Fascinating - didnt realise how close Nicholas Cage's Superman was to fruition ... yikes
So, they fortunately canceled slapstick Green Lantern, but someone thought it was a good idea to have a comedic (also overweight and same colored) Green Hornet...
That Justice League Mortal would have definitely worked! Solid cast and good, straight to the point story.
So many dodged bullets. To bad so many other bad, bad ideas actually made it to the screen.
Dee Construction agreed, especially Halle Berry's version of Catwoman
I like Halle as an actress, but that movie was a major misstep for her
