Definitely more interested in the game now; the difference in quality of the dragon's dialogue between the game and movie was ... striking. I don't have many video game adaptations that come to mind as being near and dear to my heart, but I'm grateful for all the Sonic Boom compilations UA-cam feeds me, haha; they definitely had some great writers working on that.

I like the Resident Evil movies, I know its divisive but I think they are fun and do their own thing. Sonic boom was a fun show, I love the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies they were fun

Excellent review, tho i kinda stayed away from the series after bad word of mouth, and this video definitely confirms alot of my fears, especially that 1 episode's comparison to Goblin Slayer. I actually skipped the 1st episode of slayer and just watched the episodes with this Amazon character who is just a cool badass (horny design aside). Atleast GS feels more developed than what DD's adaption is, considering what you said about how nihilistic the end is, like they just adapted certain aspects of the game like the lack of humanity the pawns have, but then change the storyline for some reason to fit a theme of the 7 deadly sins. It makes no sense. I'd totally have watched your version, about the duke's story instead. Perfect tragic protag material, then the final scene could be a recreation of either the redhead arisen at the dragon's mountain, or the player arisen in Cassardis meeting the dragon for the 1st time. Perfect season 2 setup! Also rlly hoping for news on Dragons Dogma 2 at E3 this year.
I think there might be a second season I haven't checked. But it could be the Dark Arisen plot. I just want a sequel game with the new jobs from the DDO
@@Aishyo yes definitely, new classes from ddonline, also being able to swap skills from a menu instead of only being able to at the capital. So many improvements a sequel could do to what was already a fun game
They need to fix the beloved system. When I was getting footage for the video, I planned for Mercedes to be my beloved but accidentally ended up with Selene.

The destructive influence of GoT is just... so much... Traumatic shit all over the place where it doesn't belong, the constant killing of characters for no reason other than "but GoT did it!" and the excessive bleakness seeping into every genre... I was honestly so happy to see that The Witcher show took a lot of cues from the game's more light-hearted and "fantastical" aspects (and, as far as I recall, was almost exclusively consensually horny to boot???). But yeah, it's hilariously saddening to see a show like Star Trek: Picard fall on its face and be able to tell it's because of GoT...
@@NIRDIAN1 the Witcher actually likes being a fantasy show. Thrones was fantasy for people who don't like fantasy and it had boobies the showrunners were in love with HBO's Rome and tried to emulate that
Feel like I need to do some homework. I played Dragojs Dogma for like an hour some years back before my system was stolen... never made it back to it lol.
I'm so glad I'm not the only Dragon's Dogma fan that hated the anime! It was trying so hard to be edgy and bleak like Sword Art Online; the game did have some amount of an oppressive feel to it, but there was also a lot of hope.
Because the game took some inspiration from Beserk I think they were trying emulate Beserk's darker moments but without the nuance underlying message of hope. It was just nihilism

It's like the showrunners over at netflix were like "hmm... no one is allowed to find the dragon hot! let's put in a bunch of noncon to fill that void tho!" As for what Video Game Adaptations I liked... Personally I appreciate the Absolute Cheese of the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider films and I thought the Sands Of Time adaptation was decent (funnily enough, the tie-in reboot of Sands Of Time for the movie was also a solid little game!), DOOM was enjoyably awful, but coulda worked if it had not tried to be an adaptation... It didn't feel like it wanted to be, anyway! (Also I'll have to fight you over Spirits Within, though! Das a solid film, if barely an adaptation mayhaps!)
You are not the only one that finds Grigori attractive loads of people in the fandom do. Some good looking human versions. You like Spirits within is square Enix forcing you to type this? You know I think the problem was that it came out around the time FFX did so I think fans went in expecting one thing and got something else.
They butchered the game everything that made it interesting they discarded. Grigori's voice the psuedo Shakespearean dialect and filter why? A story on Duke Edmun would've been amazing. Or the dragonforged, Selene's grandmother Godking Leonart. But no we get Ethan and nihilism. Season 2 will Butcher the dark arisen plot calling it now.
Never played the game watched 3 episodes of the show and I was done with it. No thank you. Might play the game on ps4 though since you can be Black in the game
One of the best character creation imo, you can be short or tall, old or young thin or fat and everything in between. So my cute, black, short chubby arisen was basically me.
I love how many times you said "beautiful main character" that's how I feel anytime I create an avatar in a game

Telling the story of any of the named arisens would have been preferred. Has it been renewed? I hope not Dark Arisen storyline was so good and sad
