Fun to watch. Using a smart lock with a camera and two-way communication can be very convenient. Unfortunately, there are some legal obstacles where I live (Europe) that I don't think exist on the other side of the Atlantic. If I want such a camera in my house on my front door, I cannot under any circumstances film the neighbor's property or a place where the public has access such as the road outside my house or a park. Same thing goes for an apartment. I am not allowed risking to film my neighbor's apartment. I am not allowed to record continuously, but only when someone rings the doorbell, and then the recording may be around 30 seconds. You must also not set up a camera that is so wide-angled that it captures large parts of the stairwell even if someone is standing in front of it.

That's a good point! Do you know if turning on privacy zones fall under these rules? Most doorbell cameras, like Ring for example, allow you to block out areas of view to avoid recording neighbors or others' property.
