Spent way too much time researching settings just to end up with something very similar. I wish I found this video sooner, thank you!
Glad you found it helpful! And thanks for leaving a comment!
Really great tutorial, complete and easy to follow. Also thanks for the "nostalgia" section, I switched from simple64 to RA because of customizable shaders. The CRT filter really does bring back memories! :)
Thanks for this video - really helped with the setup : )
"so it's gonna be forever
or it's gonna go down in flames" type beat
thanks for putting out this helping video ❤
Superb video 👏👍
this video helped me, like
A quick notice regarding the Upscaling/Downscaling feature and shaders:
You *have* to use Downsampling when you upscale the image *and* use a shader. This is *not* optional. If you don't downscale the image, the shader doesn't look like intented and that is the reason why your upscaled examples without downscaling look not much different (beside the curvature).
So with the m2 chip in a mac mini do you recommend setting it to Vulcan or use metal? It seems to stutter slightly and seems to really drop frames with shaders
sorry i am late but dose retroarch have a BIOS file to like put the intro to the game like a startup because i spend 5 hours trying to find it, please help:(
the core Nintendo 64 as you have it doesnt appear to me , but it works btw you have another video how to install cores for game cube thanks. that emulator doesnt works for me
Thanks man, could you share your preset save for n64 and other emulators on retoarch?
Tried this for Hyperspin. Seems to just crash and not load up any rims unless it was on GlideN64. Any way around this
Great, i did this and my Retroarch crashed. Now i can't open any N64 game anymore and i don't know how to revert the configurations since they're in the in-game menu. What do i do?
This happened to me and it’s likely due to your video driver..Mine switched by accident and couldn’t open Retroarch..Go to the retroarch folder and find the configs folder..Once in the configs folder find the file retroarch.cfg..That’s the default configuration that is booted when Retroarch is opened..Simply copy and paste that file onto your desktop temporarily and retroarch will boot up like it’s the first time you’re using it..
Great video! I'm getting failed to open libretro core, anyone help?
How do you got this nice interface please ? The Playstation style interface is so intimidating.
I’m having trouble mapping the z trigger on power a controller. Anyone know how to?
Im confused about setting the driver. I am unsure where to find the Nintendo 64 folder
I got a WIN600 with Retrobat but my N64 games are lagging in gameplay and audio, how can I fix?
Hello!! Thanks for the great video!! I am trying to play N64 games via RetroArch but everytime I go to load a game it crashes RetroArch itself and I have no idea how to fix it lol
There’s a video to fix this. Search UA-cam for “n64 retroarch fix after update”
Mine was doing the exact same thing but got it working..Set a hot key to toggle in between the menu and when you attempt to load a N64 rom quickly toggle to the menu before the rom crashes and enter the core options..there’s something set in the options of the core you’re using that is causing it to crash..Try turning off the expansion pack and switching between HLE or LLE..I was getting frustrated to but I promise this will work if you mess with the settings enough..I was using Mupen GPLE V2 or V3
Do you have to do this for every game?
No you can save a core or directory preset and it will apply to every game you play on the N64 core or that's saved in the file directory.
how do I undo it? I followed core options instructions and it caused the emulator to not open the game anymore, so idk how to change settings of the games back because i cant run them
I switched back to using the GlideN64 RDP plugin instead of using Parallel
Good day. I’m assuming you’re using a PC for this setup and not a Retro Game Console (Kinhank)?
Correct this is for PC. The settings I implement are pretty intensive, so I don't think they would run very well on a dedicated gaming console or handheld.
@@otggaming3180 thanks for the feedback.
Can i use those setting for my anbernic rg353P..? In stock OS
I'm pretty certain the 353P doesn't have enough juice to run this configuration. I believe Mupen64Plus on the Android side is the best way to get good N64 performance on the 353 series.
@@otggaming3180 ok, i already test the android side & its the best for running n64
Hi ! my pc crashes every time i try to load the shaders, any idea how to fix this ?
GPU: 1650s
CPU: intel i5 11th gen
Greetings,
It could be a number of causes. A couple of things I would try though:
- Double check that the video driver is set to 'vulkan.'
- Instead of using the advanced shader preset, try one of the standard or lite versions
- Setting a lower upscaling factor and then running the shader.
- Update RetroArch to the latest version and update your GPU drivers.
@@otggaming3180 everything was in order, but still didnt work, I tried reinstalling RetroArch and it worked!!! thanks for the tutorial!
@@Shicadi Glad to hear you got it figured out 👍
i hade some issues loading the shaders, i got the messaged "failed to Failed to apply shader preset" if you have the same problem make sure de directory is like his \RetroArch\shaders\Mega_Bezel_Packs\Duimon-Mega-Bezel
EDIT: THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!!
Thanks for the comment!
Howcome whenever I try to search for my N64 file, I can't find it?
I'm not sure. What are searching for? Is it the N64 emulator core, your roms, or something else?
i'm having trouble with the key binds everything is correct but I cant get mario to move around
Yeah same. Was trying to play Rayman 2 but the left joystick wouldnt work.
@@HKip I figured out why it wasn't working for me it was keybinded to the d pad so I had to keybind it to the joystick
Vulkan doesnt seem to work with my mupenplus64, games fail to load
Bummer. Maybe a compatibility issue with your video card? Have you tried updating the drivers?
@@otggaming3180 yeah all drivers up to date. I have a rx580 graphics card.
@@tiller2473 Seems like you should be good then. Do you have any previous shader or graphic enhancement settings set to autoload when you launch a game with the Mupen core? I ran into an issue a while back where N64 games wouldn't run when set to Vulkan because I had a gl shader set to autoload with the N64 core. After disabling the gl shader, games would load.
@@otggaming3180 it turns out, my retroarch itself was out of date. I thought I had successfully updated it, but I guess not. Reinstalling it worked
How do I open the quick menu in game
The default should be F1 key on the keyboard.
@@otggaming3180 Thank you
@@johnmooney5962 👍 You bet!
I don't understand why people would choose to install the whole retropie os , besides retroarch . I mean having more overhead besides the main Android system will always slow things down.
I can't figure out how to get rid of the white line pixel tare gaps between the walls, celing and ground.
I don't know about those bezels, don't think I care that much about nostalgic presentation. I tried to do that, but it's been over half an hour with nothing happening. You said there would be a delay, but that's ludicrous. I'm not putting up with it.
I don't see a vulkan setting
N64 cores are no longer available. Can't play it on there.
Maybe try the core downloader again? I just checked on a fresh install of RetroArch and the N64 cores were available. If you still can't see them, try upgrading or re-installing the latest version of RetroArch which currently is 1.16.0.
I'm playing on a Pixel 7 Pro (wanted to play Harvest Moon 64 on the go) and it flat out crashes every time :/
@@otggaming3180hi, I am on switch lite, just installed vr 1.19.1, I dont see ParaLLEl n64 nor vulkan, please help 😊
