I just wanted to confirm it. I tried many emulators, and this is the best.
I love Ares too, though.
Both Simple64 and Ares give me a very simple and easy approach to emulation, and I barely have to configure anything to run a game perfectly without any graphic artefacts, etc.
This is finally a good era for N64 emulation!

I can't imagine anything being better than mupen in 4k widescreen.
@@rick330 4k makes the textures unbearably blurry imo, but that's the beauty of emulation I guess, we can make them look however we like, can't even say that for genuine remasters.

great vid! ready to get this started and get a huge list of nostalgia setup and ready to play! keep up the great work! question though regarding duckstation - if you don't mind. I have a few multi-disc games. is there anyway I can group up the games so they are all playable without having 1 to 4 pics on the games section? ff7 for example has 3 disc. I have ff7 disc 1, disc 2, and disc 3 but i would love to have just 1 ff7 icon and play from that if that makes sense?
You can probably convert the discs to a single pbp file instead

ive been using simple64 myself for some years now and for netplay its only viable for pokemon stadium due to its lack of input buffer control(it forces dynamic auto on you and instead of stopping the game when waiting for a internet packet it just makes your input delay really bad)
in other words netplay is only ideal on this emulator ina competitive enviroment when all players have a perfect internet connection, emphasis on the word perfect. unless it happens to be a turn based game
I am struggling to get the profile keybindings on my controller (PS4) to work properly. Example in Goldeneye to aim in the reticule, I can't get it set right. Everything else works fine with the controller. Any suggestions on keybinding setup?
I'm getting stuttering when I upscale. When I put it back to native resolution to fix stutter it still stutters. What is going on? I'm using the ROG Ally. By the way, after any changes, I reset the emulator for changes to take effect.

They do. I've used Interect MakoPad and the wired Retro Fighters Brawler 64 controllers. Works awesome! Also third party memory packs work

Still relying on an awful plugin system with none of the good ones included that actually make it more accurate. UI is outdated and obnoxious. It is only useful for old rom hacks and some random 64DD stuff that is already being added to the better options.
@esGames Also I heard from Kaze recently that someone found a major security vulnerability with Project 64. If I understand correctly, malicious code hidden in ROM files can be used to gain access to your system even if you're running it in a virtual machine. As I understand it, this malicious code won't do anything if you're using a different emulator.
If your ROM files are all old, then I guess there's not much chance of this happening, and you wouldn't need to worry if you ran Project 64 offline on a dedicated retro gaming system, but if you can just use a different emulator with a better overall feature set, that seems best.

With hacks for a good deal of them which I feel defeats the spirit of FPGA. Next gen FPGAs are going be great though.
