Good demo. I thought my computer crashed when you went to black! It took me about 30 minutes for the stand-alone cloning on a 1 TB SSD. Cloning from a drive in the computer to one in the docking station was a little faster (20-25 min.).
    Power to the people! ✊

Your audio was a bit low just an FYI .

Yeah and I accidentally filmed it on a potato (720p) I thought I recorded in 1080p.

It's safer to turn it 9n after the drives are installed.

I'm currently cloning a 4TB SSD to another 4TB SSD, it's going on 3hrs and isn't even at 25% complete yet, I'm guessing this won't be done until sometime tomorrow. Honestly, I'm kind of wondering if it would have been faster by just dragging and dropping individual files from one drive to another.

Yeah it is definitely very slow. I have never done a hard drive that big before but it wouldn't surprise me if it takes that long.

At , 2.15-ish , you said that you cloned 1tb source onto a 2tb target drive , and the 1tb was put on a partition and an empty 1tb partition was created , can that empty one still be used ?
As , I have a 120gb ssd and want to clone that onto a 480gb ssd as my main windows operating disk , will I still be able to use the 360 -ish gb that is left empty on it , as I download stuff & then move it to my 2tb hard drive for storage ?
Also , what letter will the cloned drive be assigned ? if it will be different from C , will it still boot from the cloned drive ?

Yes, after cloning the empty partition can still be used. The windows OS determines the drive letter and it will most likely still be C. And yes it will still boot from the old cloned drive. If you are planning to have both your original source Hard drive and new hard drive in your PC at the same time you need to pay attention to which one you are booting from. Check you BIOS defaults to make sure you are booting off the new hard drive and not the old one. You may want to manually select the new hard drive in the BIOS startup until all your files are transferred.

@@commtechengineer612 , Thank you that is good news .
I was not going to have both original 120gb and cloned 480gb ssd's in the computer together , was going to clone the original and keep that out of the computer as a back up to the system should anything happen to the new cloned ssd , so I would be able to just plug that in.
I would not need to select anything in bios this way , would I ?

It depends on the boot order of your BIOS if you have SATA selected as your first try boot device then yes you should be fine. Just plug in the new hard drive and you should be good to go. @@jayk2k

@@commtechengineer612 can the empty partition be combined with the full one to make it bigger?

@@SecureCPU If you try to combine an empty partition with one that has data you will end up losing all data on the full partition.

I'm currently cloning a 1 TB drive to another, it's been two days and still at 75% is it normal? what if I turn off the device?

    • @commtechengineer612
      @commtechengineer612  10 місяців тому

Hmm 2 days seems like a long time for 1TB. There may be an issue with one of the drives. Maybe give it another 24 hours just to be safe, if it isn't done by then something is wrong. I haven't tested it but turning the device off while cloning shouldn't cause any data loss. I would suggest running the Spinrite program on both the old and new hard drive and try the clone again (I have a video on Spinrite it isn't cheap but is probably the best data recovery software).

hey! thanks for your time and help
I turn the disks off, the disk did not suffer any damage at all, the original one was in bad shape so that was the cause of all this problem. Thanks again@@commtechengineer612
