    I just took delivery of this same device and this video was very helpful. I'm going to clone a 1TB HHD to a 2TB SSD and upgrade both of my 500GB SSDs to 1TBs and add a 1TB NvME also, so this device will be getting a workout. I will probably also keep my 500 GB SSDs in it for extra storage.

    Is there any difference between EC-CH2B and EC-HD2B other than the USB TYPE A and C? Do they have different hardware inside? Do they both support writing on both HDD?
    What is the MAXIMUM CAPACITY? 2 x 20 TB or 2 x 10 TB? Or more?

    I'm currently cloning a 4TB SSD to another 4TB SSD, it's going on 3hrs and isn't even at 25% complete yet, I'm guessing this won't be done until sometime tomorrow. Honestly, I'm kind of wondering if it would have been faster by just dragging and dropping individual files from one drive to another.

      I think that this device should support WD hard drives (up to 10 TB) without any problems, though I have never tested it.

      Maybe you have gotten damaged unit.
      Nevertheless, before you return it, try to do some simple diagnostic steps.
      - use different hard drive
      - try to install harddrive in another bay (Maybe one bay is damaged)
      - try to use different USB cable (very often cables provided with most devices are very low quality)
      - try to connect the USB cable to different port in your PC (try all parts in your PC)
      - try to connect the Docking station to different PC
      - make sure that plug from AC adapter is properly set in the power slot (is not loosed)

    • @MICROPROG
      @MICROPROG  3 роки тому +2

      Hi 👋. The designation SSD will be automatically wiped out and partitioned by the device as 1:1 copy. Portion structure will be exactly this same as your source HDD 149GB.
      Remaining free space on your 500GB SSD will be present as un-locaded empty space (you will not be able to use it). In order to have access to remaining 350GB of free space you will have to update partitions on this disk later using some Partition Software (there are many on the market).
      NOTE: the docking station is not able to clone encrypted partition (if you have any on source HDD 149GB, it will not work later on designation SSD 500GB)

    • @MICROPROG
      @MICROPROG  3 роки тому

      I have never tried to copy the system disk using it.
      In theory, it should work...
      Based on the user manual, this device makes 1:1 copy of the disk.
      Therefore, all partitions settings and their contents should be copied to another disk.

    • @luciodelgado
      @luciodelgado 3 роки тому

    • @MICROPROG
      @MICROPROG  3 роки тому

      I think that for Cloning operation purpose, you do not need to format new hard drive.
      Cloning option, either way will first erase everything on "destination" hard drive and create new partitions.
      When it comes to secure partitions... there might be a problem with Cloning them. They might not work properly on the new hard drive after Cloning operation.

      If this is a brand new SSD / HDD drive (never used) there is a probability that it doesn't have any disk partition created on it.
      When you connect the drive to PC you will have to use Disk Partition Software (there are many on the market , Free and Paid) in order to create Disk Partition. You can also use options available in Windows for partition creation.
      After this , the disk will be visible and ready to use.
      -----
