I have a firefly flying v and the neck is relatively weak, it flexes with the string pressure a good bit. Compared with my 2011 gibson les paul, the neck hardly bends at all. That tells me a good bit honestly. I expect frequent adjustments on the firefly, but not the les paul.

The neck is supposed to flex. You can any a small amount of concave bow.
And you do know this is why the truss rod exists.
      Do a setup.

@@anorexorc1stthe neck is supposed to flex, no one id denying that but there are solid guitars where the neck moves a little and feels solid and necks that are almost rubber like and those neck needs constant set up, solid guitars get a set up once in a lot of time

I think you are a bit uninformed. I own three Gibson guitars, 2006,2011 and 2014. the 2014 ES335 top cracked. I had to put a Bigsby to stop it from traveling. I have been trying to find a Gibson firebird and can't find one that doesn't have really bad fret sprout. I can fix it myself but when i pay $5000 for a guitar I shouldn't have to. Gibson has problems right now and import guitars are very good now whether they are made in Korea or China. American made instruments have fallen off the quality band wagon.

I've never worried about frets my entire life. Whatever people complain about fixes itself as you PLAY the guitar.

Yea. My Jackson dinky has pretty bad fret sprout but it seems as I played it, the sprout faded.

Chinese Companies like Eart and Latitude are listening to their American customers and delivering quality instruments at affordable pricing. I see buyers want every option for the least amount of money ( SS Frets,10 Tops, Roasted Necks..etc.), and I see sellers that charge more for a product that would not have passed Q.C. in previous years ( Relics). Choice is a wonderful thing.

very interesting opinion on chinese made guitars. I like the take and your observations that led to that. I agree theres a huge difference between the love of craftsmanship between most chinese things and say american and japanese made things overall. but saying anything bad about china in today's day and age is frowned upon sadly

Rickenbacker also don't build guitars anywhere else but in the USA.

I Have a Squire that was made in China. It is a nice guitar. I think it was branded as a Contempory and is HSS.

Those solar guitars are tempting me (to purchase). If a buyer can find a chinese made guitar that plays well- I say go for it. There is a risk that the quality control is sparse.

I agree, I stopped buying more expensive guitars because they all need to have so much work put on them anyway. When I buy a guitar now, Ill buy the name, usually B stock and tell them make sure it has well working bones. The parts Ill change, but make sure the neck is good, the body is good and it can be intonated properly. Yes, I have gotten a guitar before they sold me that they put the bridge in the wrong place and there was literally no way possible to ever intonate it. So that and the neck are the very 1st things I check out. I did just get a Kramer Strike and I have to say,. the neck is perfect, intonation is great! The tuning keys I had to change to some GOTOHS made in Japan. But the pickups being alnico 5's, they have a beautiful flavor for stuff like Alice in Chains. Not sure if they're a one off wound or they all come this way. But damg they're good!
I do think today, we have to expect to do a little work on guitars.

This could have been a 3 minute video. With CNC machining guitars that come from China start out with excellent "bones". Manual labor is what costs, and American labor is far more expensive than Asian labor. Consequently a limited amount of "finishing" and setup work is done at the factory. $100 at your local guitar technician can fix most of the deficiencies of Chinese guitars. Indonesian guitars are pretty impressive out of the box.

I agree 100% . They are great guitars ! It’s the player that makes the guitar sound good no matter where it’s assembled at

I hate that no matter what note you play the guitar automatically plays the 5th above :)
