Yo, I got a shoutout on a Dean Lamb video! I believe the LP had nasty amber knobs, and you eventually sold it to Dallas for one of his wood shop class projects. I have received a total of 2 free beers at Archspire shows by mentioning I sold you the first guitar you ever owned. Can't believe Claine doesn't remember me, I was my most majestic and elegant self. Not at all mildly inebriated and questionably coherent.
Dean, I am that friend of yours who presented you that magnificent guitar. Thanks to your baseless allegations of stealing money I am now daily visited by police officers and face prison if found guilty. YOU ARE WELCOME!

Cool guitars. I think I'd struggle to ever put money down on a Kiesel just because of the way Jeff treats his customers. The time he did a Facebook live from his factory floor to call one of his customers a "fucking idiot" springs to mind.
Yeah same Jeff Kiesel is a terrible person and there “rules” on return and all that etc is super whack especially because anything that actually makes it custom or stand out make it so that if anything wrong with it to bad they won’t touch it cause you chose those extras on YOUR “custom” it’s also like a “half custom” I would consider it a real custom active having bought customs and talked to many builders there is soooooooo many better choices and ones that actually hold resell value too
Those MH1000s are studio and touring quality beasts...used to be sub 500 shipped on eaby like 3 years ago....every one ive had of those or the schecter c1 hellraisers(same guitar from the same factory minus badging) have been EXCELLENT
@DeanLamb You know, I think you have good taste. The Kiesel I ordered also is jet black with gold hardware, Though i got acoustic saddles so it also has the super cool ascetic of having black saddles on a gold bridge. Would recommend.
I had a similar experience with my first ibanez prestige. after basically only playing MIJ jackson's my whole life, I have become a total ibanez lunatic after getting my first prestige this year. Still love jackson's too but the prestige necks are just insane. Would like to try a kiesel build someday too.
I have a kramer focus 6000 in neptune green I bought in 2015. I sold it to guitar center for rent cash, then 2 years later bought back from the same guitar center after someone bought it and returned it after painting the pickups black. Thing plays great. Layla kent plays a sick kramer ml/explorer type that sounds killer too
The 1000's with the mega overkill binding were a product of their time, nothing says 00's metalcore like one. That said, they've only JUST pulled the last of them from the range in 2024, so they lasted (and thus sold) for quite a while. And you know what? I still love 'em.
I had those Ibanez guitars from the C tier. The Grg 170 I think was called was my first guitar ( I started with my sister’s Yamaha acoustic that I still have) , I loved it not because it was great but because I had an electric that I could play heavy riffs on it. I had difficulty with the tremolo and tuning but I figured it out when I’ve put the third spring and 10’s for standard tuning and found the position of the springs bar by unscrew it a bit. Later on it fell and broke at one of the two posts that hold the floating bridge so it was unplayable. With the whole hustle to make the floating bridge work and the way the screws in the cavity worked and the ease it broke, I dreamed about a guitar with a sturdier tremolo with ball bearings and a nut that you can turn to change the tension. So when I first played a S series in a guitar store I was shocked to see my dreams tremolo in an actual guitar , I liked the sound also of that 6 string S series. So I later bought the 7 string online and I hated it, so I sold it some months later
I also had the ibanez s7320. I found it super comfortable to play and was my first introduction to thin necks and extended range but eventually swapped it for some prestige RG.
The first guitar I ever bought myself was also an Epiphone LP Special. Used it across 3 bands back in the late 90’s. Still have it too. I also owned two basses. My first was a cheap 4 string Ibañez GIO. And the second was a 5 string Ibanez Ergodyne (late 90’s. Made by Hoshino Gakki in Japan). I started learning on a Decca 12 string acoustic that was my grandmothers. (I got it when she passed in the 90’s) then moved to a cheap, no name strat that had bad frets and extremely high action. I was like 12 so it was still cool to me. I still have both basses but lost that no name guitar ages ago. I also have a Schecter C-7 DELUXE, Agile 8 and just recently a beautiful LTD MH 400 NT. All pretty inexpensive. But all play great.
I had a 2228. When freshly setup, it sounded glorious from the 7th string down. I also threw some rautia raw-dog pickups in it (kind of a lundgren alternative) that kicked it up a few notches. The neck, the action, mwah, superb. The 8th string...well, found out that I couldn't fit anything larger than a 0.70. The saddle arrangement on the 8th string ended up collapsing, and after repairing it...started to fall out of love with it for the wildly loose feel on the low string. In hindsight I could have just drilled it out and stuck a 0.74-0.80 in it. Meh. Miss those pickups, though. They were fucking beast mode. The winder retired a few years ago now. I only heard of him through some proto-Ola playthrough videos (framus cobra playthrough 2 and engl powerball i playthrough).
My cousin had that same Epiphone as his first guitar. It was really good. We used to sit on the garden shed roof with a mini amp playing riffs from And Justice For All.
I had the exact same Ibanez BTB 405 bass. The wide string spacing made slapping/plucking easier, but the 1st - 4th fret stretch was difficult because of the 35" scale. It was also pretty heavy. I kinda miss it anyway.
I had a guitar I didn't like at first and became favorite later. I bought a Jackson MJ series Dinky because it was a good deal on Reverb. Didn't like it at first. A year later I pull it back out and it clicks. Amazing guitar. To think I was trying to sell in hat time too. 🤦
Used to work for Kief music , barracuda was our house brand . They haunt my dreams so much fret repair had to be done before they could even leave the warehouse.
I had that same MH1000 about 9 years ago. Sold it, and I have regretted it ever since. It was one of the best guitars I have ever played, let alone owned.
My first guitar was a blue Peavey kids guitar that my dad got me when I was about 6 years old. But my first full size guitar was a cherry sunburst Washburn maverick series. My dad bought it for me at a pawn shop somewhere around 2000 when I was about 10. To this day I absolutely love the cherry sunburst color on it, very beautiful in my opinion.
Ron Jarzombek ia a monster guitar player! He is like evil quantum physics teacher of guitar world! And RG550 you accidentally damaged - my first you know good electric guitar was RG550, it was a birthday gift from my parents at my 15, now I'm 34 and still play it from time to time, changed pickups (went for BKP Warpig in bridge and Lace Drop'n'Gain for neck), one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played
The Hyperdrive is in that Explorer category thats kinda weird at first, especially being studious and sitting in classical, but is awesome. Been trying to get used to a similar shape(Soto E-1) for like 6months and it's fun to have an option aside from the more common shapes
I've played guitar for 20 years and the best decision I ever made was trading my Jackson Dinky for a Schector Elite 006 which I still have and put active EMGs. Doesn't stay in tune butt way better than the dinky 😂
it's 2007.. I had a used Jackson King V in all black. Guy at Guitar Center convinced me (lied to me?) that a set of Duncan Invaders would be the ultimate upgrade for it. Running through a Line 6 Spider III.
my first 7 string was a guerilla custom msr7 with no fret markers, i didnt even think about it and just sent it on stage in shitty dimly lit clubs. Im pretty sure my playing got about 10x more sloppy but it looked so sick 😂
I thought the exact same thing when i saw that red Kiesel. Totally Ron Jarzombek-vibes! Also one of my fav guitarists, pure insanity 🤯 Oh, also curious why you don't use Evertune live as well, if you have a fixed bridge anyways! (it's pretty great to never bring a tuner on stage!)
My first 3 guitars were all knockoffs. My first legit one was a Charvel DS1, and even though it was only 200 CAD, it was a huge step up from my other 3 knockoffs. Now I have a Strandberg Original NX and PRS Custom P22. Still have my very first guitar, and that Charvel.
9:14 Those basses are actually decently comfortable to play sitting but ugly as hell. My dad had (actually still has) a steinberger spirit bass just like it. That little lump at the bottom is like a little kickstand that folds out, and it stops at about a 45ish degree angle to the right in the picture. When it's folded out, it sits on your thigh like any normal shaped guitar would. It was a little difficult to source strings for them though. Pretty sure it still is. They were pretty niche last I knew and while getting a set of double ball ended strings is easy enough, the gauges are super limited so you can't play around with too many different tunings. I actually learned to play bass on that thing and it sounded/played great. Kind of miss it. Might ask my dad if he's willing to sell his to me.
I always wanted one of those. I find the compactness very compelling. I told that to a friend who's in a death metal band and he said he would strongly oppose bringing an instrument that looks like that on a tour. Heh.
9:10 how could he have actually owned one of these and not noticed that it has a folding leg rest on the bottom specifically for resting on your leg. It's even visible in the photo. Additionally, unless you live in a Third World country, strings are fairly easy to find for them considering they take the same strings as any Steinberger since these were licensed by Steinberger. Also it's not that difficult to find an adapter for the headstock to use standard strings

i literally woule never be able to remember all the guitars ive owned. easily 100+. probably closer to 200.i had like 27 guitars at the same time when i was like 17 lol. im almost 40 now. i only have like 5 plus 1 bass now so ive gotten better.
My first electric guitar was a Ibanez s320 6 string, it was cool but when I got my next guitar I realized how dull and lifeless sounded. Even after a pickup swap it just sounded dead. (now it sits in a gig bag with no pickups in desperate need of a new bridge)
1:52 This was my very first guitar. In this exact finish. It's still sitting right behind me. It's a piece of crap and I never play it anymore, but I still have a soft spot for it.
