Just to clarify for potential Gullfoss users: Bias is not "like a tape bias." It biases either the recover of the taming side of the algorhythm. From the Gullfoss manual: "Before applying Tame and Recover to a signal, Gullfoss must decide how to split the range of audible frequencies into sections that need to be recovered and sections that need to be tamed. Bias controls this classification by either giving Recover more space when using a positive Bias value, or allowing Tame to control a larger frequency range with a negative Bias value. Recover and Tame then control by how much the respective ranges are affected."
Hey what’s up I’m a blind engineer and love how you kept it real, it’s a little bit difficult to follow you because you don’t really state the values of each dial that you are presenting, I’m wondering if there’s any chance that we could do a zoom session and you could kind a help me understand a little bit more about this plug-in it’s all accessible so I could navigate through the plug-in without any problem 🔥 my schedule is usually open so really hope that I can get a respond back because out of all the videos you seem to understand it I just subscribed as well thanks for everything
I've mostly ignored the "boost" function as I thought it was just for final volume adjustments and didn't realize it also added some subtle EQ as well, is the "regular" version like that too?... going to experiment with that now, thanks for the tips as always! ✌️
Bias shifts the range of the tame and recover so you can balance those two out (like adjustment of those two separate would do only with one handy knob) The tame and recover are interactive and work synergetically so one bias knob makes sense. With the individual knobs you first set the tame and recover values and then finetune those with one bias knob to find the sweetspot. I don't think this is explained well in this video or in the manual to be blunt.
Does the "Boost" increase the high frequencies aswell? From the manual : *Increasing Boost will emphasize the bass frequencies of a signal while reducing the mid frequencies*
Awesome! Soothe is usually doing some low-mid cleanup and very light sibilance dipping... I mainly use it on master buss to tighten up the stereo width and reign in the image a bit.
i really have good results with the combo god particle+gulfoss+ waves limiter on my masters. Damn all of this is expensive xD do you think god particle limiter is good? i ear some people say its not that good so i use my waves limiter but i'm a noob so...
Was the distortion during the intro theme intentional? Those were filtered drums, dude! Don't try to sell me on a VST while overlooking such an obvious blunder!
@@goobagooba831The drums are distorting, dummy. It defeats the purpose of filtering drums since you're removing the intensity while adding unpleasant distortion.

sound theory recommends using the plugin Bypass button to prevent stops and clicks
Sweet, nice to get the mastering edition explained like that! Have it, use it, like it.
It’s completely redesigned so make sure you’re not using as much as you do with the other!
It's easier to hit the Bypass button when doing comparisons....
I torture myself for the art, I’m not here for “easy” ;)
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Thank you but sometimes it's better to just admit to the obvious and the helpful.
interesting thanks for sharing plug-in gems with us, appreciate you.
Cheers brother!!
How would you use this along with Ozone 9???
Cool video thanks. I love the Gollfoss Master.
One of the best plugins out
🔥🔥🔥💎
You use it?
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood yeah got it a couple weeks ago and been working it in … love it… !!!!
@@SoulburninRecords awesome! It’s super powerful

Oh yea, that's how it works brother! If you got lacking frequencies, the boost will bring them back in... Use both, play around with both of them!
Too good

Fair. This video is pretty old, I probably need to do an update on it as we now have a few different contenders in this category now!
Does the "Boost" increase the high frequencies aswell?

Yes. It gives a “smiley face” curve to the information
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood since it's not boosting the highs maybe more of a "half smile"? 😅
So if you use this would you want to turn off the Master assistant from Ozone?
Just depends, you can always tweak what you don’t want from ozone
fantastic video man. My mastering chain looks similar to yours haha. What are your soothe settings?

I love the God Particle adaptive limiter, it’s solid af for most things
This isn't to do with the Gullfoss Master but just the original Gullfoss plugin....would you put it before Soothe 2 in your chain or after?
Try both! Listen and decide for yourself
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Thanks man, will do. I didn't know if there was a general way people were going with that combo order. Thanks for the reply 👍
It's a good question... Just consider you may not need both! @@leemendez7876
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Less is more. I hear you 👊
Use the plugin internal bypass please lol
Play the song more!!!! Ahhhhhh
😂
What can Gullfloss do that CLARO can’t do?
I’ve never used Claro… couldn’t tell you until I have
So your really not supposed to place the "original" Gullfoss on the middle of a chain???
It has to be the first plugin?
Do whatever you want!
Are you a real engineer? It's like you don't even know how to use this plugin.
No, I’m a fake engineer…

Yes and this is an example, by no means a final mix…
What is this comment even saying? You don't like the sound of the drums in the intro?
