Done by the Supremes of Motown fame originally. This version is well done.
Thanks for that! I was trying to remember who did it originally 😊
@@crandyran 🙂
Don’t forget the great version by the Vanilla Fudge!
The Supremes version is a must listen 👂
Agreed. It was faithful to the original, with a tasteful instrumental arrangement.
First released in 1966 by The Supremes. The following year it was released by Vanilla Fudge. Both versions did very well.
The Vanilla Fudge version has always been my favourite. 👍✌️🇨🇦
@@marybaillie8907
Yep. Vanilla Fudge is best.
1967 b&w version online.
Supremes version can't compare to Vanilla Fudge
@@marybaillie8907 my favorite as well!
@@mrb4749
The Supremes didn't sing a "version" but the original period!!
I was so in love with Kim Wilde in the 80s & 90s. She is so beautiful. I love watching her in interviews She has such a lovely english voice and seems to be very sweet. "You Came" & "Cambodia" are really good songs of hers to check out.
I second 'Cambodia'. Possibly best of the bunch. Do that one please!
Were those popular songs? I don't remember.
@@MoMoMyPup10 Kim only had 2 hits in America, but in Europe it was different. Kim holds the record for being the most charted British female solo act of the 80s. She had 17 top charted songs in the UK.
Yes Cambodia, so meaningful and sung true to sentiment by Kim x
@@reesebn38 Actually, You Came hit #41 in the US; #21 in sales and Top 10 Dance. I bought the maxi single and played it constantly! Say You Really Want Me also hit #44. You Came is why I became a fan. It was #2 in the UK and I saw Kim say it was her favorite of her songs! She sang on a Top 5 Adult Contemporary hit by Johnny Hates Jazz. She should've been a mega star in US but a lot of folks still love her music compared to a lot of the 'stars' of the 80s. She had staying power!
Love this song by her! Since you like the 80s synth-pop sound y’all would love Animotion, “Obsession” 😎
Ooooh, the one that I remember from Animotion was "Room to Move".
Absolutely. Same sound style!
100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Want something 4000% 80s synth? TransX - Living on Video
Great shout, loved Obssession, still got it on a 12” somewhere.
I don’t even care if it’s not female Friday, we need us some Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics. The song you will not regret listening to is “Would I Lie to You.” You should definitely listen and watch the “Official Video” because it tells a great story with a great voice, great guitar, great horns, fun dancing, and some great backup singers.
Yes, Would i lie to you be awesom, also Here comes the rain again, Love is a stranger,I Like Listen to Bethoveen.
Eurythmics for sure!!! Or Annie Lennox solo is amazing!! Walking On Broken Glass is so fun!!
Would I Lie to You! I second that request!
or you could just look it up yourself.....
"Would I Lie to you" short: ua-cam.com/users/shortspcfnL_4BPxI
Kim Wilde is great! Talented singer and gorgeous woman 💓
I have always loved this version!
I still like the original, but there's no denying this is a GREAT cover.👍
Check out version by Vanilla Fudge
I love her song ‘Cambodia’, one of her very best.
Love this song!! Please check out Sheena Easton. She has a few bangers!! Morning Train, The Lover in Me, For Your Eyes Only and her duets with Prince and Kenny Rogers are worth a listen! Keep smiling! 🎶😍🎶
I would like them to do u got the look with prince the video from the sign o the times concert video.
Definitely Sugar Walls!
If those are bangers, than Air Supply is hard rock.
Now that y’all heard this cover , please listen to the original by The Supremes!! It’s amazing.
I much prefer The Supremes version. Love "Kids", but this, not so much.
Agreed
Vanilla Fudge version is thee best
@@mrb4749
The Black & White
Vanilla Fudge 1967 Version is the best.
@@user-ii4zf5iq3t Vanilla Fudge killed it !
Another great reaction, thank you. Kim Wilde has had many hits, 'Water On Glass', 'Chequered Love', 'Cambodia', 'View From a Bridge' are some of her earlier ones, some others are, 'Never Trust a Stranger', 'Rage to Love', 'The Second Time', a couple of ballards, 'You Came' and 'Four Letter Word'.
Those were 'hits'? I don't remember any of them.
@@MoMoMyPup10 Hits in the UK, where Kim is from, obviously, I'm not sure about the rest of the world.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. In Norway too👍😍😍
@@MoMoMyPup10 Then your memory is for shite, I guess you were too busy gazing spellbound at the antichrist of music Madonna. You sound like from the US, in which case you wouldn't care, as that place only cares about it's own, anything happening anywhere else, beyond a few obvious unimportant acts, just don't matter to you. If not from the US, you should be ashamed. Hello, she holds the record as most charted female of the 80s and best-selling artist across Europe throughout 80s (and holds a Bambi Award for it), despite all the walls built up against her by her record labels and the fickle build-em up, knock 'em down, go to the next act crap of the 80s! Your memory is for shite! Get a clue. She's had hits in just about every country and it continued for a long while, till the usual ageism sets in and the rest! And he has only stated a few of them!
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Well, get sure. Never heard of Google. Sure you'd be sure about someone else!
I heard a lot of her stuff growing up because my Russian father was hard core into her. It's a great version. You Came is quite good, too.
Love this version.Kim Wilde has music in her blood her father Marty Wilde was one of the first British rock and roll stars.
When it comes to looks GOD was not holding back, and he gave her a voice too - fantastic package.
Amazing song!!! I love how it sounds like she's about to end the song, and then that 3rd verse comes out of nowhere. 😎
Great Cover, love Kim Wilde! Love the new hair Amber you look so beautiful but you have the kind of face that could do whatever the hell it wanted with any style it wanted and pull it off beautifully! Happy female Friday y’all loved the Star Wars reaction and yeah the hype is real any kid my age will tell you any kid any age so glad you guys loved it!💚🌻✌️😎
Kim Wilde. What can I say? As a lad, I was utterly smitten by her and my bedroom was graced with posters etc. I saw her live a few times through the 80s and still from this day I still play her records. Check out Kim Wilde - Never Trust A Stranger (Official Music Video). Another great reaction from you guys.
You still have a record player?
@@michaelhlong3765 Yep. I'm Old Skool for life.
"Kim Wilde - Never Trust a Stranger" - one of my most favorites.
Kim Wilde is a very nice person and an icon. She also had later.on a garden show on the BBC. She has design skills.
Did all my 80's kids sing along, because we remember every word?
It can't have been just me haha!
Recorded by the Supremes in 1966 number one hit. Recorded by Vanilla Fudge1967. Kim Wilde 1987 cover went to number one .Reba Mc entire covered this song too. Love the Supremes and Vanilla fudge cover. thank ya'll
This was my jam in 85-86!!! Woooot.....lol....it's very danceable!!!
Amber check out Taylor Dane’s “Love will bring you back” an incredible ballad from the 80s. Thanks guys🙏🏼❤️
Kim Wilde's cover of Diana Ross & The Supremes became one of her biggest hits in America... Kim Wilde opened for Michael Jackson on his 'Bad' world tour in 1988. She had hits in Europe until 1990, and then her popularity fell by 1995, sadly... Her 1988 album 'Close' is one of the best pop records in my opinion... Songs like 'You came'... 'Never trust a stranger' ... 'Four letter word'... 'Hey Mister Heartache'... 🔥🔥
Other hits - 'Cambodia'... 'Water on glass' ... "Can't get enough of your love" 🔥🔥
Her first four songs were written by her father Marty Wilde who was a rocker and is still performing at 83 Kim is still performing at 62 her younger brother performs with her and his daughter is singing with the band her sister Roxy is a good singer also,a very talented family.
Kim scored a world-wide No 1 with "Hanging on." The best version to watch is from Peter's Pop Show...where she absolutely kills it.
It just blows my mind how many bands and artists their were in the 80’s . Their will Never again be a another decade like it ever . I’m thankful I was able to witnessed all of it , and would live it all again if I could .
She's the daughter of British rock star Mart Wilde and has a second career as a landscape gardener, presenting gardening programmes on BBC tv. And she's still beautiful.
I have always loved this song. I tend to belt it out, especially in the car. I have had a particularly horrible month and these songs make me feel hopeful and energetic like when I first heard them as a teenage in the 80s. Pretty sure this is a cover of a Supremes song, but this version rules. I always have to sing and dance to this one. Thanks for your reactions. Oh, amber your hair looks great. And yeah you are dancing like we did in the 80s, just let the music take you over and go.
Haha, I belt out my favourites in the car too. I occasionally wonder what others must thing but really, I don't care 😂😂
when Rob busted out dancing!!! 🥰😍😆 i luv it!!!
I really like Kim Wilde, when I first heard Kids in America when it was released in 1981 I loved it. My favourite Kim Wilde tracks are: "Kids in America", "Chequered Love", "Cambodia", "Love Blonde", "Rage to Love", "You Keep Me Hangin' On", "Never Trust a Stranger", and "If I Can't Have You"
In the 80s, I was a teenager. When this one came out, I was 19. I absolutely adored Kim Wilde. And I wanted to get everything she had ever done, but being in the states, it was hard because she was British. She had some fantastic songs though. I recommend The Touch, Rage to Love, Four Letter Word, Love Blonde, Janine, Blade Runner (based on the movie), Never Trust a Stranger, she did a cover of Born to be Wild that was fantastic. She also did a cover of if I Can't Have You (by the Bee Gees) from Saturday Night Fever that was fantastic! Also enjoyed Love is Holy. And she's beautiful! She did so many great songs and unfortunately most of them work hits over here in the states.
As a child of the 80's, Kim was my poster gal. Boy was I besotted!
There have been a lot of artists that have good covers of this 60’s classic recorded by Diana Ross and the Supremes. Check out 70’s rock/psychedelic band, Vanilla Fudge, doing this song. Many good takes of this one! 👍
I was going to suggest that one too. Their version is a ride!!
Definitely Fudge version is thee best
Vanilla Fudge was huge. Every bar band had to do that one.
That guitar solo in the background; absolute killer.
A great female 80's song.....Voices Carry by Til Tuesday. Would love to see your reaction to it. Keep up the great job you are doing!
First recorded in 1966 by The Supremes.
Cant miss doing Kim Wilde - You Came !!!
For me & my best friend, this OUR song! There's no keeping us off the dance floor when this plays!
Kim Wilde is amazing. My favourite singer. Glad you love her! ❤️ Listen to You Came.
I grew up loving her music… I loved watching the much music video tv show …as an adult and knowing what the song is about… I’m shocked at how popular it was with my friends when we were teenagers 🤔🇨🇦. The “Kids in America “ song was featured on an after school k-pop tv shows when I was a teenager
This could be one of the best covers ever. Re-imagined a 60s classic for a whole new audience in the 80s and still sounds fresh.
This is the 3rd hit for this song 1st Dianna Ross and The Supremes mid 60's. 2nd was Vanilla Fudge (My Favorite) more rock late 60's and then Kim mid 80's.
Yr 100% correct V. Fudge is top tier thee best.
@@mrb4749 - 💯% agree!
Soft? Kim is FIERCE here! Her rage at being mistreated is palpable, and the way instrumentation builds over the song makes it feel like something is going to explode! I know this is a cover, but I can't imagine the original would move me as much as this version does.
We all had a crush on Kim Wild.
Sheana Easton was another darling, with an angels voice.
The best cover of this song, In my humble opinion, was by the group Vanilla Fudge.
You got that right!!!!
I like Rod Steward's version as well
This is definitely my favorite song by her!
She's a great artist!
I remember when this song came out. My best friend was raving about this new song and when it came on the radio he turned it up for me to listen. After the first 30 seconds I began to sing along and his jaw dropped, asking me how I could possibly know the song. I told him I'd known the song for YEARS, since I was a little kid and had probably heard it in my cradle. I went home and brought back a two pack cassette tape set of Motown's 25th anniversary featuring Diana Ross & The Supremes and played the song for him, LOL! I no longer have that cassette set but thankfully i have the same set as a 4 LP album set :)
Que recuerdo grande kim wilde saludos de argentina que epocas ..
i loved that song, Kim looks so Stunning in that black dress without trying too hard she looks just Superb.
I freakin' love this song! It's on my Spotify playlist.
I wonder if they will do Samantha Fox
This was a cover of the song originally written by The Supremes in 1966. My actual favorite cover of this song was done a year later, in 1967, by a band called Vanilla Fudge. It's the psychedelic version. I think whether or not you react to it, you should definitely check it out (link below). Thank you for this reaction! 💙
Keep Me Hangin' On - ua-cam.com/video/3dJO47d26kc/v-deo.html
View from a bridge is another great tune from Kim Wilde
No no no. You must listen to it by Vanilla Fudge. Live on Ed Sullivan show
This song was massive my Junior year in high school (‘86-‘87)…so great👍🏼
the 80s had alot of great 60s covers. try "locomotion" by kylie minogue.
Love love love love that song!!!! Good one!
It's so surreal knowing that I've gotten to the point in my life where people are not familiar with Kim Wilde's cover of You Keep Me Hangin' On! I remember when this was just released and played all the time on the radio. By the way, even though this can be classified as pop, at the time it was called "Hi NRG" and is essentially the same as today's mainstream EDM.
Greetings from London. A great version guys but don't forget Kim's Dad, Marty Wilde. Still touring and aged c.83. He is 1 of unique singers who recorded in 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's and 20's . Marty had hits in 50's and 60's mainly US covers. A lovely guy too.🎤
Love this song by her, it sounds really good in the clubs, thanks for sharing this ❤️
1987 was such a fun year for radio. I was still in highschool and looking for my 1st job and i turned 18.
Originally done by the Supremes in the 60's, Kim brought this song into the 80's and made it her own
This is a great Supremes song
Great song from my high school years …She’s just jamming up there .
I love Kim Wilde .. my favourites of hers are this, Cambodia, Never Trust A Stranger, You Came & Chequered Love
Legendary song, beautiful Kim.❤️
Yay! Thanks for coming back to Kim. Yes, she is stunning. Please check out next her "You Came", a more tender Kim but still a nice danceable track.
When I hear this song it teleports me back to the 80s. It is the quintessential sound of that time period.
Another really good Kim Wilde song is chequered love.
"never trust a stranger" and "you came" are my fave Kim Wilde songs
Knockout dance tune. Still rocks. Timeless. Ans she's drop dead gorgeous.
Water On Glass. This is my favourite Kim Wilde song, but Water On Glass is a banger, too!
This is a cover of the song popularized in the 60s by Diana Ross and the Supremes!
This video was my first Kim Wilde experience back in the day. I had such a crush on her!
I love Kim wilde huge fan from Australia because in Australia we adopted her
J & Amber, you'll love her "Chequered Love"!! edit- "You Keep Me Hangin' On" written by the Motown legends L. Holland, E. Dozier & B. Holland for The Supremes 1966!
This one always got us on the dance floor back in the day!
one of the coolest britsh female singers.......
"Love Blonde"
"The Second Time"
"Rage to Love"
"Four Letter Word"
"You Came"
Kim has a 40+ year career...and quite consistent...her latest song "Trail of Destruction" is killer...she's 63 now...her last album, "Here Come The Aliens" from 2018 was amazing hardrocking powerpop with songs like "Pop Don't Stop"... but you need to hear her possibly biggest worldwide hit, "You Came", both the 1988 smash single & the loud hardrocking 2006 makeover...
"You Came" is my favorite Kim Wilde track, it's a fantastic song.
Please do “I am Woman” by Helen Reddy for Female Friday! It’s our women’s anthem! You’ll love it Amber!
Yes love Helen she's great 💞💫💞
I have suggested Helen Reddy numerous times as well as Carol King.
Couldn't be a more perfect song for Female Friday. I'm sure they'd love it
Glades Knight “The Need To Be”
A great female anthem
@@bradleyspear167 I too have made the same suggestions...I can't wait until Amber Hears I Am Woman.
One of those covers that holds up against the original! 🔥
Cute hair cut Amber!!! Great song, it was one of my favorites back in the day!
One of those rare songs that the cover is better than the original.
The Vanilla Fudge version featured in Once Upon A Time... in Hollywood kicks ass.
This is a cover of a Supremes song.
Wow!!! Banger from my younger days 👏😎👍
And she still performs! Saw her scheduled for coming may in our local Rock Temple.
Her father Marty Wilde was a rock n roll star of the 50s and 60s, this is my favourite song that Kim released followed by Cambodia.
Another great song of hers is View from a bridge guys 😊😊
An amazing cover of the Supreme’s classic 1960’s hit!
Love, love, love this song!!!!
Her songs "Never trust a stranger " , "You came" , "The touch" , Can't get enough" should be considered for a reaction ...
Another Kim Wilde hit from the 80s was "You Came", a title that made every teenage boy smirk and arch his eyebrows.
Yep they probably did………while thinking of Kim.
Forgot about this little gem 💎 love it ❤️
This song takes me back to the summer of 88 watching MTV on the couch!
Boy did I have a crush on Kim Wilde in the 80s 😍😍
This song is a banger!
Amber, you would have fit in perfectly in the 80s.
It was the best ❤
I fall in love of Kim when I was teenager:))
