- Cliffe Knechtle has a good dialogue with students at Texas State University. Recorded in October 2015.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.
It's is very sad to see people who go to university and have so many comforts and be so selfish, while in 3rd world country's people praise God for whatever small things they have.
I feel bad for 1st world countries to because although we have so much we are so poor spiritually.

I literally clicked on the video and immediately was confronted with pure anger. Let's take the time to pray for this man. I hope he can find rest in Christ someday, as have I. I saw how I was towards God back then in him.

Yes, the lab coat fela has never known any real pain . He does not realize what he would be getting into with going to hell. Satan is not buying him a cold beer and taking him to go play golf on a nice cool day in Florida. I pray for those individuals like him the most. Yet I fear that most have seared their conscious so bad there is no light reaching them. May we remain faithful and not bend to the agenda that Satan continues to push on this world.

We can not convince or change the minds of others. They have to make that choice themselves. For those who believe and live for him are tasked to go out into the world, into the darkness and to spread the good news. All we can truly do is 4 things. First love them, second plant a seed, third pray for them, and fourth, leave it in God's hands. This is how miracles happen!

Careful friends that we show more compassion and love for the souls that are deaf and blind. None of us opened our own ears or eyes. If we did, then we are twice deaf and blind. Jesus, please set him free as you did me and countless others.
Oh my, that lab coat, how sad for him. He wall fall on his face and acknowledge the King. I had an atheist friend hard core...kept fishing, surfing and hanging out playing music with him and praying for him. God surrounded him with all born again believers who kept praying and hanging with him. God came to him in the middle of the night and he fell on his face to accept Christ. I asked him what was it that had him turn from his atheist view to being born again...he said he started praying with us and inside asking God to show him the truth and he let his heart open to being wrong. He said he saw the evidence of our lives, listened to our testimony and eventually he started seeking God. God revealed himself and now my atheist friend is in full-time worship ministry....
I pray these people hearing the word hear and come to repentance.
If you are not a believer and have all this doubt, dont work your brain so much...the wisdom of man is foolish ness to God...reach out and seek God. Pray and ask God not for fixes, not for rewards or gifts, but for to first know Him. Do it often and without stopping...
If He doesn't exist your not hurting anybody...
But He does exist and He will reveal Himself to those who draw near to Him and earnestly seek Him.
My friend might even have more faith at this point than i do, you should have heard our discussions sound like all of these people...

@@iampostal God came down to die for you and me. If you need to work through all of that proof you can. I know two Atheists set out to prove it wasn't true and the are both in full-time ministry now. If you think you came from nothing, thats not intellectual. If you think good works will get you to heaven, thats impossible. If you don't ask God to reveal Himself to you, thats the worst mistake you will ever make. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess, it just matters on what side of life you do it. Its history that people want to forget so they can live like they want, without consequences. The Bible is full of facts that men in their wisdom fell utterly short of their thinking before the truth was discovered later. Bible says if anyone lacks wisdom to ask God for it. We don't need to tell God whats possible or what has happened or who He should choose. He started it, He has finished it, and He says He will make a new heaven and a new earth. This is try outs. He destroyed the earth with water and said He would never again. He said next time it will be fire. It will be a grand end. You will worship the Jewish carpenter because God came here to lay down His life for you. They use to kill lambs and spill their blood to push sins forward til next year, and did that yearly and on occasions. The temple vail was torn, cracked in half and cleared the way to the holy of holies. There was never people sacrifices to please God. He never allowed Abraham to follow through. God provided a ram. Every sacrifice cost something for the offering from the giver. It had to be spotless and without blemishes. The only spotless sacrifice we could get in a non animal and human blood is if God did it. I hope and pray you just turn to God for truth. Isreal isn't currently sacrificing, but they will again. Read the Bible and pick apart the stories, they are amazing and cover lots of issues. Dinosaurs, Nephilim- which were men of great renown that were sons of fallen angels that took woman for wives... led to killing them off. They have found numerous giant skeletons and really old people that had live a really long time. There is so much in the Bible that is obvious after you know. Your knowing will be beyond words and through your heart, you will comprehend with your mind but its a God thing. I don't know if one person can explain whats it like when you except Him and ask for forgiveness for yours sins. It is such a simple thing but it has to be from the heart, i am sure your head, and it is obvious to others and yourself the change. The demons believe and shutter. They flee at His name. He is the son of the most High. God loves you enough to come down here and live humble, not rich, to forgive and seak out the widows, prostitutes, tax collectors, commercial fisherman and everyone the "religious leaders" hated. You think i am kidding. This is huge. God hates religion. He doesn't want anyone to do anything for no personal relationship at all. That is religion. He wants to adopt you, forgive you, and make you family, a son. With rights to inheritance. He wants a relationship. "Behold I stand at the door of your life and knock.." Ask him to come in
I admire Cliffe's patience with the man in the opening scene. How hard it was to listen to him speak on something he clearly hasn't properly studied.

This is incredibly good apologetics. Cliff is so clean and direct with his word.
The only reliable way to know truth is evidence, and _Cliffe doesn't have strong, logical evidence of a god._ Not in this vid or any other of his I've seen. So if that level of argument -- _Cliffe failing to provide one good reason to believe in a god_ -- is "incredibly good apologetics" then absolutely nobody should believe in gods.

I think Frank does some pretty good Q&As at collage compasses answering some tough questions that many folks (non-Christians and Christians) have as well
@@Chimonkey-wh5ot I've already watched that, but it's strange to me you would bring that up when the challenge on the table is strong, logical evidence of a god. After all, that vid (if memory serves) was a deflection from a common argument against Christianity called the Problem of Evil, where God is said to be all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-good, but the Bible also says evil exists, which wouldn't be true if a god with those traits existed.
We hold people responsible for consequences when (a) their actions are a major reason (or the only reason) for the consequence, and especially if (b) they also knew those consequences beforehand. Well an all-knowing god would know _with absolute certainty_ evil would be caused when they caused everything to exist in the way that they did, and so God must be responsible for evil, which contradicts the "all-good" trait.
Now I think the best escape to that is the Christian realizing there isn't really a basis in scripture for "all-good". (In fact at least one verse literally says God "creates evil".) So it's more a contradiction with typical Christian dogma (that god is all-good), but I suspect maybe that dogma isn't actually supported by the Bible itself.
None of this addresses the problem of evidence though. Knowledge requires evidence, and we don't have evidence of any gods.
Te rest of Turek's content doesn't provide evidence either. For example he often cites the moral argument, but that isn't evidence it's just bad logic: it's him saying (a) objective moral values exist, but providing no evidence they exist and (b) saying a god is the best or only explanation for those values if they exist, but again...no evidence provided of that.

If you don't mind, can you define what you mean by, "strong logical evidence" So we are on the same page? That way I don't create a misunderstanding. (I will see if I can find something that meets your criteria once I know what to look for).
When I read, What popped into my head was, 'I wonder if you would enjoy how Frank Turek does his presentations and Q&As?' I think Turek does his presentations logically by presenting good reasoning as to why he believes what he believes (better than Cliffe does), so I wanted to share his name to you incase you were not aware of him.

Scripture does talk about the fall of lucifer but gives no timetables, so perhaps heaven and evil were a thing before the universe was created? (I have no idea) regardless of that, how does God being responsible for evil contradict the "all-good" trait?"
God allowing evil to happen is different than if God were to partake in evil. The bible talks about how God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-wise, so perhaps the creation of evil was necessary in order to give humans the ability to have free will? I don't have a concreate answer on this, I can only make conjectures on the limited knowledge given in scripture.
That's crazy! I had to do some digging on this. In the King James version it does say that! In other versions of the bible (NIV, NASB, ESV) the word used is, "Calamity," or, "disaster."
In Hebrew some words have multiple meanings so the context surrounding said word is very important. Unfortunately, it can be very easy to misinterpret or misunderstand. The King James version tried to be as literal as possible, and the word "raˤ" (which most commonly translated as "evil)," is used here. However "raˤ" can also mean: bad, unpleasant, evil (giving pain, unhappiness, misery) evil, displeasing. bad (of its kind - land, water, etc) bad (of value). Hence why context is so important to signify what the word means.
If ever interested you can check out the Hermeneutics on this verse (I googled "hermeneutics stackexchange Isaiah 45:7).
It's unfortunate but I would conjecture not enough Christians use a lexicon or look at the hermeneutics when reading the bible (me included).
Couldn't the universe point towards a "creator" via the discoveries made through science? For example, DNA is three billion letters long.
I guess I can see your reasoning here. In a nutshell from what I gather on Turek's objective morality VS. subjective morality is that he's trying to get people to ask the question, where does morality come from? And his "evidence" of objective morality would be a "higher-being."
What other kind of evidence should one present when making an objective moral or subjective moral argument?

1. Imagine I claim to be a human. Well that's a very weak claim, due to our abundant evidence of humans existing and writing comments.
2. The claim comes in a comment, so it's very weak evidence.
3. _Critically_ very weak evidence is exactly what we needed to meet or exceed the strength of the claim.
4. Imagine I claimed to be a god. Well that's an extremely strong claim. We'd need extremely strong evidence, right? (Much stronger than an internet comment.)
5. Well the people claiming a god exists are still making an extremely strong claim, yet they don't seem to have any evidence at all. (All their arguments make logic errors, and bad logic isn't evidence.)
*Regarding Turek and Cliffe,* yes Turek _tries_ to make a case and so he presents his reasons far better than Cliffe. This is only partially Cliffe's fault, because most of Cliffe's content I see is like this vid, where _other people_ are driving the topics, so Cliffe doesn't seem to end up presenting evidence of a god much (I'm not sure if I've ever seen him even try, now that I think about it). It's still partially his fault (or perhaps intentional on his part), because he's the one having those types of conversations instead of steering things towards what actually matters (grounding our beliefs in truth, which means having evidence)
*Regarding morals:*
1. By "agree" do you mean you agree we don't have evidence of objective moral values?
2. Whether god was evil before the events described in the Bible doesn't seem important. What matters is if we accept the Bible's story, it describes an all-knowing being causing everything, and that makes them responsible for literally all outcomes, including the evil that the Bible also says exists.
3. Imagine an engineer whose computer shows a 100% chance the robot he's working on will nuke New York if activated with its current programming. The engineer activates the robot and it nukes the city. We hold the engineer responsible, because (a) the engineer's actions are the major reason the nuke happened, and especially because (b) the engineer took the action knowing what would happen. *The God story of the Bible is identical,* in that they're said to be all-knowing (they know all outcomes before they even act), and to have caused everything, and then evil exists. Therefore God is responsible for evil, in the same way you'd hold that engineer responsible for nuking New York -- the fact that it's the Engineer's Robot doesn't change things.
Objective means, _"not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts."_
Morality means, _"principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior."_
So to prove objective morality you'd need to somehow show an action was right/wrong completely separate from anyone's feelings/opinions/tastes. (The awkward thing is most theists I ask this of talk about how people feel about various things like murder -- and yet feelings are exactly what makes a moral subjective. For murder to be objectively wrong, you'd need to somehow have evidence it was wrong even if there were no minds to judge it, and I don't really know how you'd begin to do that -- it seems like just a bad idea that's weirdly common to believe objective morals exist.)

I love this Pastor explain scripture and culture using History. We don’t have teachers like this in our Churches Today many don’t read and are easily swayed looking for gifts, healing and riches or miracles under a tent revival.. The philosophical depth of many of these questions are freshman philosophy at best, and that's being extremely generous. These student's objections indicate that they are unable to distinguish subjective value systems each one of us creates from ultimate human as a whole purpose. Cliffe is trying to emphasize this point and yet the objectors are still equivocating subjective with ultimate, regardless of whether God exists or not.
If God does not exist, there is no ultimate (key word is ultimate, not subjective) purpose for human existence and therefore, we create our own value systems based on subjective social conditioning and socialization, environmental factors and genetics. There is no heaven, no hell, no moral accountability to anyone but yourself or the state (if it happens to be illegal as well). Whether you are a saint or a tyrant is just as meaningful ultimately as do you prefer chocolate or vanilla (dependent purely on taste rather than objective truth).
In other words, nihilism is unavoidable if God does not exist.
Don't take my word for it, though.
Bertrand Russell, a prominent 20th century agnostic stated quote:
"Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.”
I got into an argument with a skeptic who said I didn’t understand Russell. Hard to misunderstand those words
You have a personal belief that without God, life is meaningless. But that is just a belief - it’s just your projection onto those that don’t see evidence for a God. It does not mean that those people live for nothing though…
@@jk.9300 Please re-read what I said and try to understand. I did not say people cannot create a purpose for themselves. Everyone can and does. The point I was making is outside of each person's subjective interpretation of meaning, there is no ultimate purpose for human existence outside of God. If we are here by accident then we are an accident and there is nothing special about us that has any significance outside of our own little subjective world. Our actions or lack thereof have no significance outside of our own projections and whether you live graciously or not, it does not matter because the end result is the same. Death and non-existence. That is the secular conclusion which you cannot escape. You do not need to be religious to realize this, many atheists in the past have come to the same conclusion as I have quoted at the end.
Please do not confuse subjective meaning with objective purpose.

But I know you can't find anyone that had been revived after 15 minutes even with doctors doing rigorous work to make that happen. Yet Jesus did revive HIMSELF after 3 DAYS man. Especially Ceasars Nero who lit Christians as torches to light his garden, and fed lions with the Christian corpses. In the conversation with the black gentleman at the 9 minute mark we have to explain that the reason why any human good can be done while not believing in Jesus is because Jesus has written his moral law on the hearts of all people. So we know it’s wrong to lie and telling the truth is good, so it comes back to what God has given us.
All moral law came from God these people don't comprehend basic law don't, steal,kill,lie, adultery (having an afair) originated from God not governments of men. If these people were truly against God(a true atheist)no laws would exist they would be against all laws.

The young black man in the uniform was trying to compare slavery and indentured servitude in Roman times with today's workforce situation. One very huge difference, you can walk away from any job where you feel you are mistreated or that you simply don't like. You get to choose where you give your labor and talent, or you can be your own boss and start your own business.

You realize Mary made up that shit about an angel putting a baby in her. She had a child with someone who wasn’t her husband, back in those days that is a crime of adultery and the punishment was to be stoned to death. Given that she is a human being and naturally feared for her life and the life of her unborn child the only logical thing to do would be to lie to survive. I passed no judgment on what her actions were but we can all agree that the people who have heard of this rumor back then greatly exaggerated the truth. You do a good job not going too far in an argument, not taking things too personally etc. This allows ppl who are questioning to feel they can chill out and continue being honest with you... or start to if they aren't from the start. I don't even think I'm considered Christian by Christians, but Christ's words are the most spiritual influence in my life, and I very often see and hear people angry at god while saying they don't believe in god.
