I've long had a lot of respect for Cougar. I feel it's a trail blazing brand that truly does not get the credit it deserves. Their Fifth Wheels have shaped the direction of the RV Industry for over a Decade!
The full interior update and facelift revision in this current generation of Cougars feels like a change in the winds for their division. It should be noted they are intending for these RVs to be built with no carpeting in their slide outs, but supplier issues have prevented them from being able to keep up with their current production backlog.
Regardless, the combination of smaller size and triple slides gives this Keystone fifth wheel a dynamite series of features! The bathroom revisions were also absolutely on point!

I like that the shower seat doesn’t have to share it’s space with the shampoo and soap niches! I also love the ‘nightstands’ beside the bed along with a residential queen size bed. I also love the island in the kitchen along with what I call the ‘coffee bar’. That always gives you more counter space and storage. That solar and inverter prep are something that I would definitely want too.

Finally Cougar upgraded their interior, long overdue. Also the 12V fridge is a great option! Impressive solar ready camper!

Such a well edited video, dude you've no idea how infuriatingly annoying these other you tube rv sales guys are. Showing exactly how much of what we want to see. And thankyou for taking the time to set up the rv at night. Very nice touch where as other prefer to spend their time as time vampires with their stupid gimmicks. Sorry the other videos just seriously suck. I'm high AF and they infuriate me just thinking about them.

Right Myron. The Stand Alone chairs always seem to block the TV with the high backs on the chairs. This is a really nice rig and I like the recliners instead of the anchored in place theater seats that most rigs have available. One could still get the theater seats to replace the sofa if wanted. Cougars are so " just right " to me. Thanks for the show Josh. bill in Florida
5:20 with the left side mini pocket near the door 🚪 it would be a good spot to keep your truck keys 🔑 wallet 💵 sunglasses 🕶 etc. 😉
The friction hinged doors. I wish they'd still include the exterior door holders. Even with the friction hinges, the doors will still slam on you if it's really windy outside.

Love 12V 10.7 in our 19 footer TT . Our fridge gets so cold and is always on 3 days prior to our trips. We towed 17 hours and our 12V is a champ!

Arrrrrgh! That kitchen is so stinkin' cute, I adore it. Really, the only issue I have is the bathroom faucet: I'd switch out to a one-handled faucet, LOL. Also like those side shelves on the bed. Love this one! 😊❤️

I'm not real fond of the GFI outlet being directly behind the bathroom sink like that. I think it could be better thought out. Overall the floorplan is great for a small fifth wheel. Love the shower not being a corner unit. Nice colors inside too. Thanks Josh!

Duane Dee here again...To refresh your memory, a while back, I was inquiring about a Coachman 252 RBS travel trailer that I could tow safely with my Dodge Durango Citadel...I thank you for your feedback.
However, I came across a 2021 27sgs 5th wheel on your site that completely checks off all the boxes that I would require in the RV. Unfortunately, I would need a truck to tow it. So, rather than to settle for the travel trailer, I believe my only option is to wait until I can trade my Durango off for suitable truck. Until then,
I want to thank you for all your help in my search for the perfect RV to fit my needs.

Great model. I would recommend a 3/4 ton for any fifth wheel towing. Something like that won’t necessarily require diesel though thankfully
I just looked at this RV today at a local dealer. It’s a nice rig, but there is no pantry. Keystone needs to fix this before I would buy one.
The new Jayco 27 RL has actually addressed some of that in a really nice way

That's nice, but we still want washer / dryer.
I really like this size fifth wheel. I could easily full time in this and it’s still small enough for a lot of state or national parks. Half ton towable is pushing the limits of the highest capacity half ton truck. I think this coach is ideal for 3/4 ton gas powered pickups. I think an f250 with a 7.3 would scoot down the road just fine with this trailer in tow! Very nice fifth wheel!
"Half Ton" is the actual name of the RV -- "Cougar Half Ton"
If you've seen many of our videos, then you know we're HIGHLY skeptical of MOST 1/2 ton towing of fifth wheels (though some safe examples certainly exist). I 100% agree with your 3/4 ton assessment
Only a handful of half tons could handle this, even then I would avoid the mountains

I think this would be a better living dining space if it was half booth and half chair. The booth side on the left blocks the fireplace. I would like to see more space around the stove as well.
It's interesting how those frankentable half and halfs are growing in popularity. They weren't well received initially but people seem to be accepting them more readily now. I like how that floating bench can be a nice little sofa ottoman
Table/Chairs is available btw. Cougar doesn't currently do the half/half
The bathroom is just like my 2020 368MBI but I wish I had that sink and cabinet. I like the extra counter space and drawers.

Yeah the bathroom updates were simple, but really on point!
We like your presentations. Presently we have a hybrid ... most attractive part is 2 adult sleeping areas in an under 30ft trailer. Turn off is that no one has come up with an “assist” for lowering and raising the bunk ends (getting too old for this). We only need the 2nd adult sleeping area a couple times a year. WHY want it? I do not like the clutter of using the sofa bed or table to make a bed everyday ... when we have guess, it’s for long weekends or 1 week trips to wine country. So why hasn’t someone offered a customized fold up hybrid bunk for where the 2 chairs are located?
I love your idea on the seating. What's interesting to me is Jayco *did* offer a convertible bunk/seating area in some of their fifth wheels actually. Cherokee had done so as well. Nearly no one ever wanted it. I never understood it as I completely understand and agree with your thinking
I was wondering if, in the bathroom vanity, if there was room for a tip-out above the drawers? It'd be good for toothpaste & a couple toothbrushes. I like the decor. I like the light colour decorative wood around the big slideouts, less overbearing. The view of the fireplace is awkward. If I really needed the built-in dinette for an extra bed then I'd make that area storage with doors, less perplexing. Did I mention that it's got great decor? Friendly. Comfy. 🙋🇨🇦

What would make this my favorite rv 1. Extend the sink counter a few inches toward door. 2. Another inverter plug on other end of counter. 3. King bed.
It's a really nice contrast in comparison to the Eagle with it's more simple less is more quality feel. I prefer that to wallpapers
I generally agree. Eagle and Cougar are really doing well right now and both hitting some really big notes currently.

That "hybrid" idea is interesting to me...
Would like to see all manufacturers start putting in the roller shades as they are so much easier to use especially when you’ve got arthritis in your fingers. Other than the dinette blocking the view of the fireplace it’s really beautiful. Doors in the dinette seats would also be a nice touch, otherwise it’s no wonder this is the best selling of all time! I personally went with the 25 RES Cougar mainly for the size. Just the two of us and although this is a Gorgeous unit I’ve gone through three trucks in as many years and besides the 3/4 ton won’t fit in the garage! Lol! P.S. a windshield above the bed would be fantastic to be able to go to sleep watching the stars!
Table & Chairs is also available and actually how we tend to build this layout MOST of the time. We like to work in something different now and then which just happened to be what we recorded this time around.
That 25RES is fantastic and has seen SO MANY copycats since its inception. You did well!
Interesting coach... Sure, the peninsula creates a really... Cosy... kitchen area, but I think it's better than an island taking up all the room.
Apart from that huge high ceiling over the kitchen, (kinda gives me vertigo), yeah, one of the more appealing units: though I totally groove on kitchens being at one end or the other (for some reason).

Regarding these units being half ton towable, it's not really about the weight of the unit itself! It's the pin/hitch weight of the unit and how much payload a half ton has. Most of today's half tons with the higher trim levels barely have 1500 lbs of payload! My buddy's 16 F-150 limited only has around 1300 lbs of payload. These units are definitely more 3/4 ton worthy.

I wish they did away with the L shaped sink area. I like the fully open floorplan in 5th wheel. I would like free standing table with chairs.

I bought a 2021 and really like it. The things that would make it even better; the air conditioning and heater is very noisy. Can’t watch tv unless you crank up the volume. Also, it would be nice if either it came with a remote for the auto-level or have it included in the In-Command. I ended up buying an after market remote.

@@mikeshirley8751 Whoops! Sorry I missed that. I'm not familiar with one. One of the only drawbacks of incommand is LCI doesn't allow it to speak directly to their systems. ASA (who makes incommand) has found many work arounds, but so far they've never fully tapped the auto leveling system. I believe the best they've found is to be able to operate the front jacks from the app but that's it.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I found a remote LC358601 on ETrailer by watching another’s UA-cam. He shows how to program it. Costs $221.00 and works great.
I searched for “Remote for rv auto level”. I hope this helps you and others. My 2015 Cougar came with a remote, but my 5th wheel burned up in the Beachy Creek fire. I always enjoy your videos.
I love this but it needs a few more feet. I need a pantry or at least easy access to the storage under the dinette (drawer). The decor is lovely, the bedroom great but those two things would make it hard for extended travel. Suggestions?
That's available -- it would simply be a different model. You'd basically be re-creating something like an Eagle 27RS or 28.5RSTS or even a Cougar 30RLS / Eagle 30.5CKTS

You did not open the doors above the bed. If they still open upwards and don't have lift struts, please tell Cougar to do something about that. Try putting your underwear and My first mod was to install aftermarket struts. That wasn't easy with the bed in the way either. Please call Cougar and have them make that $20. fix. Thanks
It would be nice if you would post the gross vehicle weight of all the trailers your selling because too many people use that dry weight to decide on a tow vehicle
By listing the cargo and empty weights we have in a round about way, but since this was recorded I have started including GVW in my specs listings directly as well

Always love your videos Josh! My wife and I are in the market for a couples 5th wheel. We have narrowed it down to Reflection and Cougar models. I would like to know how the two brands compare. Which is better in terms of customer service and warranty fulfillment after the sale? Thank you and keep up the great work!
For the sake of decency and transparency I'd mention we're not exaclty an unbias source for a question like that as we represent one but not both of those brands. I won't bash someone else's products, but I will promote ours. I hope you can respect the difference there.
Cougar is by far and away the best selling mid-profile fifth wheel in history. They wouldn't be able to achieve and maintain that record by putting out sub-standard products naturally.
I will say we've been quite has as a Cougar dealer with how they've stepped up to back their products & even gone so far as to cover plenty of things they probably shouldn't have needed to for a customer's benefit and peace of mind.
I'll also 100% admit we saw an initial blip in build-related items briefly last year when they first changed over to their current format. Since then, however, Cougar has been impressing me once again with good looks, great features, and fantastic fit and finish

Sure would like to see you include the "yellow" CCC sticker in your videos. Also, something I have NEVER seen is an actual pin weight from a real CAT scale. My 5th wheel's (I won't mention the brand) documentation understates the pin weight by almost 600 pounds.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but can the recliners be swapped for a sofa and the sofa swapped for theater seating?
No worries even if it had been asked. Appreciate having you here and I’m happy to do my best to assist where I can. Theater seating will not work on this one unfortunately. They are too large for the slides to be able to close
Something more rv manufacturers need to consider is 12 volt outlets next to the beds for sleep apnea machines weight 12 volt plugs

Yeah arctic hard copied it. Even the model number. Cougar is the originator of this from way back (originally called the 28SGS)
Manufacturers take great effort to hide these hinges and yet you keep exposing them. Technically this unit no longer has hidden hinges. 🤪

Based on the strings (and the fact that you called it a blind), I gather those were blinds in the bedroom. But were those roller shades in the living area? And if so, is that new for Cougar, in place of the wood-like blinds?
Living Room Roller Shades now, Yes. Cougar has moved away from the wooden blinds. Good eye!!

It's actually just a nice door covering the converter box. They didn't want you staring at an electrical box every time you opened the door from the outside I think
Yikes, 10 ft awning - my 1978 pop-up had a 12 ft awning. Why not one on the slide?
Good question -- quick answer: Sizing.
Long answer: They can't have awnings made to specific sizes. Suppliers make only certain lengths. They couldn't get an awning to fit properly and keep that big window there.
We carry things like the 30RLS Cougar for extra awning coverage
Easy solution? Get a 10x10 easy up from a big box store/amazon and plop it beside the slide out.

Explain “allowances” for full time warranty. Extra steps for full time owners? Extra costs? Done at dealership or do I have to apply with customer service. Sounds like a bunch of hoops
I think you're connecting assumed dots. The only difference with Cougar's warranty vs. something without full-time RV provisions is that brands like Cougar/Eagle/Montana/North Point/Pinnacle allow you to use the RV far more w/o losing your warranty coverage.
Think of it like cars. You might have a 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty where if it's used too much, then the warranty expires.
The brands I just mentioned essentially have a warranty that allows you to use it more w/o losing your coverage. No extra steps. Nothing like that. Just more peace of mind.
I don't like the farmhouse wall backing in the bedroom and in the living room!
Why are the roofing plywood seems so prominent?
Cougar actually takes the time to fully glue their roof membrane and squeegee out the air bubbles. As a result you might see the decking below the skin more clearly, but you also get a better fit and hold.
You'd be shocked how many RVs don't both using adhesive on their roof skins at all.
Not a fan of the both dinette, it blocks the view of the fireplace.
It's funny -- when all we had was the table people wanted a booth
So we get a booth in and all anyone wants is the table lol :)

Greatly depends on the specific truck.
Many Half-tons have the tow rating to pull it
Most half-tons lack the payload rating to carry it

One air conditioner for this large of a fifth wheel? Otherwise it looks good.
Need for that varies regionally. In the midwest 1 air + Cougar's climate package is plenty. They're always prepped for 2nd air & offer that as a factory feature.

Yep. Cougar is Warranted for Full-Time RV'ing. In this class Eagle is the only other MFG to put that kind of peace of mind into their RVs. Cougar was first in this class to offer that coverage!
