I liked the video, but that music almost made me mute the sound. I wonder if they flipped the bed so the foot would be toward the rear if that would have worked? No, probably not.

The countertops are the same cheap coating that we have here that only lasts less than a year of use it's thin and brittle.

According to Cougar manufacturing website this weighs 7107 + carrying capacity of 2893 #’s = total of 10,000 lbs x 20% = 2000 lb pin weight. Add in 2 adults in truck, hitch, tools and supplies in truck then you have a cargo weight close to 2650 lbs. Now you should never max out your tow specifications. Most would tell you only 75% of manufacturers specs would be maxed out. (We use 60% for our vehicles.) When dealing with a fifth wheel you don’t only need to look at tow capacity but also cargo capacity. There is NO 1/2 ton that is manufactured that 2650 lbs is 75% of their max cargo capacity. All truck towing specs are determined by pulling a flatbed trailer with weights added to it on a driving course, NOT by connecting a 12’ high trailer in all kinds of situations, wind, mountain passes, etc. Most vehicles can pull a trailer, but can it stop it? I’m sure a Chevy Colorado could “tow” this, BUT…..! No matter what you do to a 1/2 ton, air bags, springs, auto leveling, etc it is still a 1/2 ton frame. There are way too many videos on here that will debunk 1/2 ton towable fifth wheels. Wish manufacturers and RV sale people would stop promoting this unsafe act. Do your future customers a favor and please list all 1/2 tons and their price that could tow this within the 75% safety margin. It should be easy to complete this with all the info on the internet.

Hi JAC Cole! I do agree that this is a bit of a gray area when it comes to how these models are labeled, which is why I always recommend utilizing a tool like our towing guide (as well as checking with your tow vehicle's manufacturer) before deciding on a travel trailer or 5th wheel.
Your recommendation of not exceeding 75% (or even 60%) of your tow specifications is smart. This is an important area for first-time buyers to learn about, so I'm going to pop a few resources below that I hope will be helpful!

@@campingworld Grey area? More like a black area that lawyers are just waiting for these types of accidents. I don’t need resources to determine if I’m within safe specs. Fortunately, I’ve been taught and I’m anally conservative. Maybe you should “pop a few resources” at the end of ALL your videos. In business we call that CYA. RV manufacturers should take “half-ton towable” out of their advertising and RV dealers should stop promoting this unsafe advertising even if manufacturers refuse to take that reference out. IMHO the only 5th wheels towable by a 1/2 ton are; Escape 5.0, Scamp 19, Idle Time 19 and older Northwood Nash 21-R (Northwood also had other 21’ brands too). A RV that has a max weight of 4 to 5 tons is not “light/small”. Try running in front of a dump truck and see how long it takes for it to stop. When I was young (50 years ago, damn I’m getting old!) a 20’ camper was considered big. Now we have these monstrosities that people buy as their first camper and they haven’t even driven a utility trailer to the dump. No matter what you do to a 1/2 ton (airbags, auto-leveling, springs) it still is a 1/2 ton frame and those things do not improve the strength of the frame or increase its cargo capacity. With that much weight bouncing on the axles the pressure increases considerably, (a mathematician would say exponentially), not just the known pin weight, it’s a physics thing. Take care and promote safety over sales.

PLEASE PEOPLE DON’T believe this 1/2 ton towable crap. Run from these salesman. All they care about is selling a trailer, not about safety. There are too many videos on UA-cam that will back up this claim. These salesman know nothing about how truck manufacturers determine tow capability , cargo capacity, the proper percentage used to determine safe towing weights, Newton’s 2nd Law of Downward Pressure when a 5th wheel is bouncing. There is more to towing than pulling a camper; chucking, downward pressure, bouncing, wind sheer, stopping.

How can you say "definitely" half-ton towable. My RAM half-ton has 1181 pounds of payload capacity. I believe the hitch weight of this trailer is 1200. Maybe instead of saying definitely you should say very few half tons should be towing this trailer.

Hi Barbara! Tucker Ballister here. You're correct that the hitch weight on this 5th wheel is 1,200 pounds and its dry weight is 7,577 pounds. Keystone does indeed advertise this as a half-ton towable, but I always recommend using our Towing Guide to determine towing capacity for your specific truck make and model: rv.campingworld.com/towguide
This allows you to search based on year, make, model, and trim options. Or, you can simply input your VIN to get your truck's tow limit. From there, it also allows you to search for RVs that your truck can tow safely.
Hope that helps, but please reach out if you have any additional questions!

How about definitely half-ton towable because it is. It is not the salesman responsibility to know the specs of your truck!! We all know capacity ratings vary based on vehicle options please just learn your numbers and let the salesman do his job,.

@@ahmadflemming9041 All salesman want to do is sell campers. They will tell or convince prospective customers anything for the sale. They should be more informed before they make claims. It’s called professionalism. The usual rule is not to load the vehicle with more than 75% of truck’s max cargo capacity or max tow rating. With that figure (75%) there are no 1/2 ton trucks that meet that criteria of cargo capacity.

Tucker, you are just back peddling . You don’t really know. Who tows a dry/empty camper? No one. You would do anything to sell a camper. Camping World does not have the best reputation. @@campingworld

None of these “half ton towables” should ever be attached to a 1/2 ton. Tow ratings are determined by towing a flat bed trailer, not a 12’ high RV. BIG DIFFERENCE. please look up the SAE J2807 tow tests. You might be surprised how the tests don’t apply to every day towing. @@ahmadflemming9041
