I just came across your channel and I'm so happy I did. I just bought a new car and I want to treat differently than my past cars. Watched several videos about car wash but honestly your channel is the most informative. Thank you very much for sharing
Camco RV inline water filters. $30 for 2, works great on reducing hard water. Auto Fanatic has some videos on it if you can't afford an expensive system or live in a rental.
My favorite items are 1100 GSM microfiber towels from Rag Company that I use with Griots Garage Speed Shine or Aero Cosmetics Wash N Wax sprays. Clean and detailing joy! I use them on entire car including paint, windows and trim. Makes easy work for a great looking car.
One helpful tool that I have to have when detailing i a small foldable aluminum 2 step step stool or step ladder to be able to get clear to the center o of the roof or windshield on s full-size pickup truck or airplane. It can also be used as s stool to set on when workimg on the bottom half of the vehicle. Inexpensive and handy..
I think my most useful tool that was not mentioned is the detailing brushes or compressed air for the interior. My 2 best larger purchases would have to be my iBrid nano because I use it on everything from paint to carpet and everything in between and my Mytee 8070 heated extractor because living in Ottawa Ontario we see way too much salt that takes its toll and is a MASSIVE pain to remove and it really does an amazing job and gets so much stuff out that it amazes me some times
Oh and can not forget youtube....I really like seeing other peoples recommendations because sometimes you may be missing something or perhaps there are tricks or products to get better results or save time
I use a detail cart. I can put all my products, towels, and polisher in one place while working on my cars. The cart is good for wash buckets so you don’t have to bend down and over as much. It’s foldable for easy storage.
I literally have everything in this video from watching your videos over the span of 3 years!! Thank you!! My only addition would be the Ryobi undercarriage cleaner. It quick connects to your pressure washer and helps out a lot when washing SUV’s and trucks that have exposed underbody.
Check your local water company in you’re area for DI tank . I pay 35 a month for tank and it supposedly has 500 gallons and I change it out every summer just in case .
Thank you. We do have individual videos on specific pads. To save you some time, simply look at our video on the Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting Disc for your compounding needs, and the Yellow Rupes polishing pad for both one-step and finish polishing needs!
Thank you! For a lift, buy a high quality one for sure. We have tried some inexpensive models in the past, but they weren't very sturdy. For a scissor lift, we are fans of the Nussbaum brand. I hope this helps.
Todd, appreciate you time to respond -always. Thank you for all your free education. “We play with the small toy cars, when we are young And we still do, as we are getting older” #Love never dies 🤷🏻♂️
Is your two part water filtration system made up of one cation and one anion resin tank? Based on your incoming TDS, about how long does each tank last before you need a resin change? Do any other prefilters make up your filter system?
Yes it is. We monitor the water quite frequently, but based off of the hardness of our water, how often we use it, etc, we're changing our media about once per quarter. That's the only filtration we use.
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and I haven’t seen anything about caring for or eating a soft top on a convertible. Someone at Adam’s Polishes told me to use their spray graphene coating on the top, but I’m curious what you guys use. Thanks
It's really a personal preference, as different types of lighting show different types of defects. We prefer to flood the space with T5 HO fluorescents, then use supplemental lighting to look for specific defects. You'd be amazed at what a simple, handheld LED light can accomplish!
I have a griot's garage foam gun for winter here so I didn't risk my pressure washer pump freezing. They're not worth the effort. Foam cannons are much more viable and use much less product.
If it's new and in great condition, it should be fine. But we stopped using them years ago as we found alternative products and materials that we liked better.
@@Esotericdetail thank you. I hear some have more than one during a wash, and I only have the one questioned made by Adam's. I do plan to add more for contact bucket, so I'll get 2 or 3 of your sponges for washes when you all restock them. Thank you.
Just wondering carpro seems like a top notch company with regards to professional to the weekend warrior do you see yourself carrying there line anytime in the future
Hello Marco, and thank you for your business. We have yet to find the perfect vacuum, for years we have been using the VX 5000 steamer, and the best scissor lift we have found is from Nussbaum. I hope this helps!
Any tips for dealing with dry wipe when cleaning glass? it seems like no matter what glass towel I use, my dry wipe always leaves a little bit of lint (yes I am washing my glass towels separate)
Do you think the bigger investments such as a blower, pressure washer, and water filtration system are must-have items for EVEN a mobile detailer including the MTM Hydro Foam Cannon Kit? Note: I understand the answer to this question will vary, but also will be based on everyone’s unique circumstances. Thank you in advance.
I couldn't imagine detailing without them. Could you do it on a mobile basis without? Yes. Would having these items potentially save you time, help you provide a higher quality product, and provide for a more professional presentation? Absolutely...
Heated, filtered air...easier to maneuver, particularly if using one of the models with a hose, and your neighbors won't think you're crazy for drying your car with a leaf blower! :)
Just hold a clean microfiber put the machine on it and run it on your towel. It can make do with out compressed air. I wouldnt trust the blowers as they dont have the force.
If I didn't have compressed air, I would use a stiff brush to clean them out. That's what we do when we're working at somebody else's facility without air. Also, we are not blowing out foam pads...only microfiber pads. The foam pads we swap out every few panels.
Personally, I think grit guards aren't necessary, and here's why. Anything with enough density to fall to the bottom of the bucket is going to stay there. Any particle that isn't dense enough to sink will be suspended in the water. Also, if you are using two buckets, then most of your dirt, especially the heavier stuff, will be in the rinse bucket, not your soapy wash bucket. One might argue that your sponge or mitt will sink to the bottom and pick up grit. If your sponge/mitt sinks, then that is true, but I have never had one that was dense enough to sink, they are always floating near the top. I guess for what they cost it's a minor cash outlay, but again, I don't see the need.
I see your point, however you should be using the Grit Guard to agitate the wash media for releasing any dirt. We use them in both the wash and rinse buckets, and agitate the mitt / sponge in both of them.
Love how clean that shop looks all white!

At first I thought the Bigboi was a Sun Joe pressure washer! I was shocked if Todd would of recommended Sun Joe!

Nice to see it works on Toyotas too - not just supercars !
Appreciate the effort to make another great video Todd,
One Q. Any advice for the car lifter ?

Hotsy is a good brand. Im going with a 220v one myself fed by a hot water on demand boiler,
When you were introducing what type of blower , how do you revitalize the black glossy grill
So you guys prefer that wash sponge versus microfiber mitts?
Yes we do, particularly on soft paint! They're unlike anything you've felt before...
@@Esotericdetail Seems like it's been everything microfiber these days, interesting to know a sponge can perform better! Thanks for the response.
@@Esotericdetail do you think a lambskin wool wash mitt would be ok on soft paint?

Hey Todd. I know a foam canon is the best way to go but what about foam guns? Are they worth it and could you recommend one?
Bob DiCicco for water hoses it helps but uses a lot of protection for hardly a soapy solution.
@@taylorweick8688 I thought so. Thanks man....

Can you use an electric lawn blower for drying the vehicle?
You could, but heated, filtered air makes a big difference!

Hey Todd thanks for this video, over the years I purchased most of my equipment from you any feedback with vacuums, steamers, car scissor lifts?
Hello Marco, and thank you for your business. We have yet to find the perfect vacuum, for years we have been using the VX 5000 steamer, and the best scissor lift we have found is from Nussbaum. I hope this helps!

Does it work good to dry. A whole car?
@@Ap-tq7zi yes aslong as the car has some form of coating I.e wax, sealent etc no blower will dry an uncoated car 👍
