My suspension is already bad and im trying to see where i can get it fix for cheaper price. Now i know i can do this to my car. Instead of selling it! I just love my jaguar and hard to let it go
Imho you dont need to remove the sway bar end link if you disconnect the lower control arm bolt. Yes, you need to be careful with the strut, but if you take it slow and dont force things they come right out.
Chuck out a system you don't understand and replace it with 'good ol' simple coilovers'. You lose the active ride, the self-levelling, the automatic lowering of the body at high speed, etc. etc. but hey... Jaguar used this system as the alloy body makes the unsprung to sprung weight ratio hard to optimise with coilovers. Yes, the air units do fail eventually but these days they can be rebuilt or replaced with good quality aftermarket ones of you don't like the OE price (which is outrageous but these are expensive cars). When the system is properly maintained and set up (not hard to do) it's fantastic. (PS: I mended an air spring with a bicycle puncture repair kit once with 100% success so I do have practical experience)
I didn’t mind swapping out two of my air shocks when I had an issue and it actually wasn’t that bad of a job, but every year I end up having all of these random issues where the car will randomly not level itself and I will get an air suspension fault. One mechanic told me I had a height sensor fault and I needed to replace one of the height sensors so I replaced the two rear sensors with OEM, and it still had issues. I have tried to track down reasons from this, but all anyone says is just let it idle and it’ll work itself out, but it doesn’t work that way. I finally had enough of it & just swapping them out and I will sell the shocks separately. Any ideas before I pull the plug?
Re-use the strut bolt, and if you need bolts for the upper assembly just use the old ones or hit up the hardware store. The new coil overs come with studs and the mount. If you buy some coil overs and they do not have studs; then you have the wrong coil overs.
I don’t have this car but I removed the plugs to the compressor and pulled a fuse and didn’t have the light return. Are you a dealer technician? Where about a in the world are you? I love connecting with car folks with experience !

Do u still have the air struts you took off
Did these come preloaded or did u have to preload it yourself
Hey buddy, did the front strut conversions need strut mounts?

I want to change my front air shocks on my jag to springs. Do i have to change the back also or can i just change the front
I gotta say change them all, you want the suspension to have the same ride on all 4 corners so it handles well still.

No. You dont need the air compressor with Coil overs.

Your coil over kit should come with a defeater. If you didnt get one, you will need to buy one and plug it in.

beware jaguar lovers, been working on jags for 50 years as soon as you do this swap the air suspension fault light will stay on forever.
