Hello friends,
And welcome back to Swiftlessons for another lead guitar tutorial. One of the best ways to improve as a soloist is to learn from the best, so in today’s session we will learn how to play Brian May’s epic solo from Bohemian Rhapsody. To fully understand how this solo was created, we'll begin by learning the underlying rhythm, and the source scales. Let's get started!

Of all the lessons in UA-cam, this lesson is what I love the most. You taught us not just the solo but also what is the foundation of this solo and how it works.

Great tone.
I would like a version with acoustic guitar too. Your fan.
Hey Seb, I’m definitely considering doing a full tutorial on the track. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yep, that would be great! :)
seb such it would be great for an acoustic version of this!
Lily walker : Are we speaking the same thing ? Lol. Or is this a grammar course ? Darling let me be the only Queen in this room.
Awesome tutorial! You actually made this easy to learn! Thanks so much for sharing this!
thanks for the lesson, I like the way you teach, it's kind difficult, but you made it easy for me to follow.
Le bonjour de Bayonne en France, merci :)
Hey i can do this now! Thanks a million.
Congratulations! It’s an absolute pleasure to be of help. Have fun. -Rob
To be able to learn from you, my childhood favourite songs is a genuine pleasure. Such a great teacher! Your Patreon is well worth the small amount of money. Way under priced good sir 🙏
well done
What a wonderful tutorial man!!! Absolute great work - great channel. Greetings from Hamburg/Germany, Jimmy :-)
That tone tho

Could you please post one on how to play Red House by Hendrix 🎸
Excellent suggestion! Be sure to submit your request to swiftguitar.com/request, and take a look around the new site as well.
Fun stuff man
Thank you Walt, this was a pleasure to teach. Would you be interested in a classic solos lesson series?
What a great idea Rob!
Indeed I think that would be a welcome idea, as all music is pretty much the rehashing of prior music, it would be a great way for people to get some classic chops into their repertoires...
18:31 just a reminder for myself
Full solo (slow) from 20'13
Te la rifas!
10:59 where he starts to teach the actual solo
Do you happen to have a tutorial like that but with acoustic guitar, sir. I would really want to learn it with acoustic if it has an acoustic cover.
17:00
thank you
exclusively luca welcome
I don't suppose you could do a quick tutorial on the part of the song at 4:40 to 4:55? (timestamp from the recorded version, not your youtube clip)
im struggling with that little scaling down and the hammer ons, cant seem to figure out the whole timing
What's going on rhythmically during that rapid rundown at 0:17? Are they 32nd notes in there?
hey for people who hate commitments can you pleas make it so that we can pay for just the material that we intend on studying? I would gladly pay 2 dollars for just the tabs that I intend on studying, once done with that I ll purchase some more
So I have a patreon page where you can access all my tabs for one fee of $2. I cannot sell my song tutorial tabs individually because of copyright issues.
Pse see on UA-cam: Bohemian Rhapsody cover by Alip Ba Ta with acustic guitat.
Hey which distortion do you use?
Amazing...Great lesson. Explained all the way. Too much for me though.
Thanks, this is definitely a heavy lesson, I’d recommend just focus on the scales and then try to get down a couple of the simpler licks. I tried to learn this in my first couple years of playing, and came back to it maybe 5 years later, it was great to see how much I had improved as a guitarist during that time.
@@swiftlessons Thanks...but not carried on learning as i should have. May have ago of one of your simple ones over the weekend.
13.19 does he mean 19 string not 18?
Do something by Gary Moore!
Rob, what effects are you using? How do you get that sound?
Hey Joseph, thanks for your comment! I’m actually not using any pedal effects aside from my amps built in reverb and overdrive. But in post production I did add a touch of compression and chorus, which is common to Brian’s setup. I think this sound is more attributable to the Gibson pickups, boosted mids and lows, tube amp and technique.
I dont have eg can yall donate some Electric Guitar?
Hey brother can you do a collab video with Anton Oparin of this song together? I mean to record a good cover together - he loves Queen too!
I’ll be sure to look him up!
Where can we contact you to do a commercial offer with Anton?
@@prezbotane6364 I'm not a fan of Anton's style of music, but he does a great job of this solo. Nails all the vibrato, bends and staccato that is unique to Brain May.
Learning the solo doesn't take long at all, it's short, but learning all of the phrasing, vibrato etc......takes a long time.
What pedal did u use
thank you. here is the result. of your tutorial.. COnverted and I modified some chord progression ua-cam.com/video/3gaheBCToww/v-deo.html i love it bro. muchas gracias.
What if my fave guitarist is Marty Friedman
Megadeath rocks, any requests?!
swiftlessons haha umm idk what if you made a tutorial for Marty’s solo on Lucretia that’d be great :)
