Great advice and tips, thank you. What solved my issue was to raise the coil springs where the protruding positive end of the batteries rest thus allowing for making a solid contact. Now it works like a charm.

HOLY CRAP!!! I have a Fenix that I wrote off years ago, but apparently the retaining ring was loose. Why didn't i watch this sooner. I love you.

Great info thanks. One correction. When testing the batteries with a volt meter/multi meter red goes to positive and black to negative. In the video you can see it gives you a - (neg sign) before the number indicating the leads are backwards. If someone uses an old analog style battery tester or meter reversing the leads can actually damage or destroy the tester/meter because it will drive the dial backwards and damage the spring inside.

Thanks! Once I used your tip to short it "on" with the cap off, I was able to fix the switch. On a Gander Mountain GSX it has tabs on the switch plate that went flat. I gently bent the tabs up and that was the fix. Nice Video!

Great info. I learned a lot. One thing I was hoping you would mention is why do so many of my flashlights switch to the strobe mode when I don’t call for it? It’s so annoying.

This was an AWESOME vid. I have around 100 lights and you mentioned tips I was not aware of. I will definitely purchase the lube once you get that in stock. I am using weapons shield and it is okay, but definitely not optimized for the task. It would be neat if you could explain how to use a multimeter in more detail in another vid. If i have an issue with a flashlight, I will run through this drill. Especially since flashlights die at the worst times in the worst places. Keep up the good work!

I have a Maelstrom 4sevens S18. This is the best flashlight I've ever had. However I think I shorted something out in it. I placed a small piece of aluminum foil in the head end where the battery holder makes contact. I know this was stupid but it would flicker every so often and shaking it would temporarily fix it and since I've fixed other flashlights using foil I figured I'd try it. Now the brightest setting doesn't work at all and the other settings barely work. They are really dim. Any help would be appreciated. I can send it to you if you would be willing to repair it.

I've gotten alkaline batteries out that were fused pretty badly. Easy trick is to use lemon juice, I like to keep one of those small lemon shaped "RealLemons" in my fridge just for that. Been slowly switching to rechargeables, but it's useful for those devices that happen to have old batteries in them. The flashlight in question was absolute junk, probably less than a lumen, used a bulb, and we got it for free, so I was just doing it so I could get the metal recycled.

I have a Coast HX5, that's been serving me beautifully a little over a year. I just bought some lithium 14500's for it. The negative posts have a spotty fancy electronic type of look. I noticed it seems the spring on my battery cap is slightly scratching the battery. Will this get worse ? How can I prevent it ?

Sil-Glyde available at NAPA auto supply stores is a good silicone grease lubricant.
From -20 to 400 degrees Farenheit it will not melt.
I have an 8 ounce tube and it should be enough make sure all my flashlight o-rings are properly maintained for quite a long time.

Red is positive black is negative. Look at your meter you had a negative number. Not a big deal in this case however it's good to be correct.

Battery is only 1.5 voltd.it will get really hot quickly when you hold a wire on each end. But it's barely over a tenth of what your car uses. And carr battery's ios a slight tingle at best. The less are just extremely efficiently and use nearly 100 % of the energy to produce light. As opposed to a halogen bulb losing a ton of energy in heat if the voltage isn't high enough to or its geting older. You can see this in halogen headlights dimming over timer. Stick a halogen on thst batteries and it'll barely glow. The led is just so much more efficient than.
