    Thank you for making this video, very clear and concise. I've been doing some research as I am old, just over 40, and have some time on my hands now with an Army pension, and haven't had much time over the last 20 years to devote to art. Now that I got some time on my hands I have decided my first foray into the world of digital art will be with a Wacom one, and then I needed to decide software. This video made it very clear that if comic or manga still is what I want to do, that Clip art is by far the better option in my situation.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch this video! That's awesome to hear! From my personal experience, I just prefer Clip Studio Paint overall, not just for comics. A lot of the ink pens and brushes "feel better" to me in Clip Studio Paint. That is totally biased though, I know plenty of people who make great art with Photoshop and their custom brushes

    The main problems with clip studio paint is the limited text and the ruler; It still has so many more options for paging, drawing, and the feature to look at multiple pages seems helpful. So i think i'll wait for the next discount the get clip studio paint. Until then ill be drawing with my hand! Thank you soo much this was really helpfu! :D
    edit: I may also buy adobe ps to make the logo/ front cover of my manga.

      Very good points! I do wish Clip would improve those features as well haha. I use PS for designing covers as well! But for everything else, I think Clip Studio is the best for making comics and manga! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

    Just for reference though there is the option for text alteration you just need to click the wrench in the corner - it brings up so many more options. I don't know how I found it but it make it so much easier to alter the text. I don't know if this is new in an update, but it has been there for a while. :)
    In the newest update the have done features for webtoons too.

    • @MonitorComics

      Thank you for sharing this! I was actually unaware about the wrench icon hiding more controls, I'll definitely have to look into that haha. It'd be amazing if it has everything I mentioned it missing lol. And I saw the new update! Clip Studio Paint is really just killing the game.

    There is an old expression.
    _"I'd rather have it and not need it, than to NEED it and not HAVE it."_
    That is how I feel about Photoshop. There is a lot of great-software out there and many of them specialize in certain-areas. However with my experience using with Clip Studio, Corel Painter, Medibang, Autodesk Sketchbook, and Paint Tool SAI, they all lack "something."
    There isn't anything that those programs do that Photoshop _cannot._ It may not be as accessible, or convenient as some of the other programs, but it's in there somewhere. I think the major hang-up on Photoshop has nothing to do with the program itself, but the anti-consumer (in my opinion) subscription-model from Adobe.
    Right now I'm blessed to be able to afford paying the subscription. If that changes I will adapt. I much rather be in a position where if I'm creative something I'm not limited by the software in any way.

    • @verendale1789
      @verendale1789 3 роки тому

      I would never ink in photoshop tho. No matter what you do with that program and what setting you tweak or brush you get the pens just never respond well on that lower end pressure curve.

      @@leedamato1597 Thank you for the comment! In Clip Studio Paint, there's ink pen specific tools. Personally, I think the "feel" and "pen sensitivity" reacts much better in Clip. It's super easy to go from thin to thick lines just by pressing a little harder, With photoshop, it's a bit harder to replicate that with their brushes. I can never get the same ease of transition from thick to thin when drawing in photoshop. I'm sure it can be done, I just prefer inking in clip studio!

I luckily had supportive parents who bought me my first screen tablet many years ago that I still use today. My main tablet is the Wacom Cintiq 13HD. I love it a lot. I've seen people do amazing work with other brands like Huions, Ipads, etc. I was recently gifted an Ipad and I love how portable it is, so I really like it as a backup tablet. I have clip studio paint for my new xp pen 24 artist 2k, thought it would be fun or as easy as drawing on procreate, nah, the shit is complicated, and I mostly draw in the eastern comic books style

    • @MonitorComics
      @MonitorComics  9 місяців тому +1

      As someone who has used csp since its release, I am definitely biased. I think Procreate is incredibly simplified compared to csp, so it's normal to feel like there's a lot going on
      I personally think csp has the best features for making comics, being able to see all of your layers, having access to the panel tools, ruler tools, screentone effects, word balloons etc
      Also the ability to see ALL of your pages and spreads right next to each other is huge
      CSP supports eastern comic style too! You can set the settings to bind from left to right and create a template using your favorite publishers print size
      For me at least, i'd always choose csp over procreate, at least for drawing comics

    • @Micaiatwork

      @@Micaiatwork The Clip Studio Paint official UA-cam has some good ones to start off! They have guest artists do lessons there and you can look into each artist from there, some make tutorials on their own pages
      As far as my recommendations, Whytmanga, Mar Brunet, Nadiaxel, SomeNormalArtist, and Loading Artist have some good ones!
      There's a video for every topic so if you have a specific question, there should be a video for it! (panels, effects, print margins, easy setup, coloring, etc)

      Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I'm actually a graphic design student in my 3rd year at University, so I've had to use Photoshop and Illustrator as well! As you said, they can get the job done if you really want them to. Each has its own pros and cons like I like Photoshop CC's Text Tools and Guide Rulers a MILLION TIMES more than Clip Studio Paint's. Despite that, I've never had a program ink, as well as Clip Studio Paint, does. It also has built-in features for effects, panels, speech bubbles, etc. It's basically built for comic making,, and that's the main reason I think it's the best option. Photoshop is definitely my second choice though! I'll prob make a video in the future going over tools I like from each program! It all comes down to personal preference though! Thanks again for the comment!
