At the beginning you pick between 1 of 3 styles A Parry based style which is what I used A dodge based style And an armor based style However anytime you defend against a move you don't already know enough times you can learn that move At one point you can know every type of move in the game and make your own unique fighting style, it's a super cool idea and I loved constantly adjusting my style until I was happy with it

I still play it every day, servers are still up. Pvp is still available, although if you want to avoid queue times for pvp you will need the discord or find the players in your game server by foot. Open world players will almost always join for a few quick combat trials
Haven't played this game in years. I enjoyed running extremely heavy, slow builds where if I managed to ever hit you once, almost all your hp would go away. I'm talking like 200+ strength, full extremely heavy, extremely protective armor. With the Block style. This was in the original meta where fast = win, where near everyone ran dex builds with either drunken style or dodge style. Curious if a build like this is still possible in the 'meta' of the game.
Drunken and dodge style never lacked the meta status except the very first few months of release, where forsaken was top dog until it got nerfed. Ever since then, you’ll always see the faster builds at the top (on average).

one can get good at it but you'll eventually run into people that abuse some pretty gross movesets that spam a lot of hyper armor or incredibly fast attacks. its why a lot of people quit.
Yeah the major downfall of this game is that the online fell pretty hard into a meta. Drunken fist with a couple of hyper moves was pretty much 90% of my pvp matches and it just got unbelievably stale.
@@pardolagames8994 stagger becomes useless when your opponents know how to counter. I main stagger and its hard to secure a win against any people that are decently skilled, usually fast attack spam deals with stagger quite well
You know the Sifu game that just released? This is its predecessor. It was really fun and i miss it. It wasnt much of a success because of the difficulty though. A lot of people really struggled with the game, which is why they went the singleplayer route

you know what’s crazy us the combat is quite flesh out for what it is, just need better parries, blocks, and a few more mixups and stance changes, unfortunately players in elden ring pvp only care about using the cheesiest methods to win, I hope in the future they could flesh out they’re pvp a bit more, make it a little like for honors combat

As a new player that has NO idea wtf is happening, matching against someone who knows how to feint constantly was really overwhelming and I got t-bagged a lot. Watching stuff like this is so cool but I am really nervous about trying it out again.
