Jesse seems like such an interesting person to sit down and talk to. Was fortunate enough to exchange a few sentances with dude when they were in sweden 2023.
As someone who REALLY values lyrics, Jesse made me so happy saying he really cares about them. I've always loved ERRA from a tonal, soundscape, sonic perspective... but gosh dang, I now get why I also connect so closely with their lyrics. Thank you guys for this record. Love ya'll, see you in KC in May 🤘🏼
I lack vocabulary to express how I feel about this band and new record but I love everything ERRA does, even if there's only one guitar solo (and I'm a sucker for guitars) 💛 much love
16:08 This has been one of my biggest gripes about the metalcore and deathcore scenes both on and offline, it's like the songs don't exist outside of the breakdown for most people.
Loved getting to see some friends have a conversation about music that we all got to witness. I fell for Jesse’s lyrics on his Ghost Atlas side project… he’s such an interesting guy. It’s somewhat poetic and I thoroughly enjoy everything he writes. I saw a comment he made about maybe writing a book once. I don’t know how serious he was but I would definitely read anything this man writes. He’s amazing ❤
I love this album! Slow sour bleed seriously surprised me, but it was definitely in a good way. I wish we could have heard more from JT. His scream comes across so natural and guttural! love that they mentioned architects. I very much got a similar vibe shift. I absolutely love both bands! I need to meet you guys!!
I'll never forget the Q&A experience in tampa when I asked if they planned on staying true to their roots and not change with the trends. Jesse said he appreciated my question and gave a thoughtful answer. Basically said they want to experiment with some things, but they want to stay themselves like cult classic DanceGavinDance. It was nice to hear considering many bands have changed dramatically and don't even feel remotely the same as they started. Edit: I didn't realize when I first commented they brought up wanting to stay ERRA lol I finally finished the video
Absolutely their best work in my opinion. Rust Cohle is also my favorite fictional character of all time. I love the dark feel to the lyrics because we live in a dark world and people often ignore the shadows of their thoughts.
Great.... the Cure Movie Jesse's talking about...malevolent spirits attacking through the internet... thanks Jesse... almost as awesome as your book recommendation. 😅😅 I'm totally joking. The movie is amazing, and the conspiracy against the human race is a rough read, but something about the idea that he reads and watches this stuff is just so awesome to me. Jesse has a big brain, and I love those kinds of thinkers.
Near the 30 min mark, Jesse is talking about how the album is different, but still fully an Erra record. As a fan, I agree with about half of that. In my head, if a different band covered these songs and I had to guess the original artist, I wouldn't guess Erra at all. It's djent adjacent, walls of sound, and not nearly as techy or chorus driven imo. Not to say it's a bad album, since these guys will always make at least decent music, but I sat and scored each song and it was full of stuff that just didn't draw me in and was forgettable. It's still like a ~7/10 with 5 being very indifferent, but when I compare it to all of their other albums, it just doesn't scratch that itch. Good interview fellas though, and love the unscripted approach.
ERRA has always had a guitar driven sound. Technical and melodic. The New album is good, but you nailed it...musically it's forgettable. There isn't a riff on the album that stays stuck in my head.
Ill be honest. I dig it. But the last album was just PERFECTION. It perfectly balanced the tech guitar stuff with the more groove-oriented riffing while really doing TONS of variations riff wise. Each track was SO varied but felt it fit. There are so many elements that make erra. THis record feels like it stripped back a lot and focused more on just the Loow tuned, WAY more open riffs. It just didnt feel as exciting and varied to me. The choruses are also lackinig compared to the last album

The bromance is strong in this hotel🤝

JT’s voice vs scream is funnier than Ryan Kirby’s hairline.
Jesus Christ 😂😂
lol why’d you call out Kirby like that

Feel the same, long live the kings
Lyrics are amazing but the overall music and the story together on this album are A+

Cool details about the album that I doubt I would have learned anywhere else, good work guys!

Bros, not just you guys, we genuinely love them too! Thank you for the interview, 30 mins just way too short for a fun one.
I love all of Erra's stuff. Especially the early EPs, but this new album has been a heavy hitter and I'm over the moon with it

THIS is the content we want! You guys are so natural. Absolutely fantastic content as usual.
I love erra putting in the extra effort for the lyrics, its appreciated

love this band
I was blown away by their energy and set in Brisbane. The crowd was having a blast. Such a good interview as well
The true detective nods, awesome, loved the show.
I just want to sit with them and have a talk. That's it. I love the band but I genuinely believe these guys are really interesting and smart.
Hope they can make some money off of this album, it’s simply too good!
Learning that Rust Cohle is Jesse’s favorite fictional character just made me love him even more.

Love ❤
i feel so early
i love ERRA
this is such a good video - just barely an interview and its a great thing
19:07 what a sick question, its like you lifted it right outta my head lmao
Tbh, you do not have to read the lyrics to get that this album is dark. The melodies are so melancholy on their own
I’d say get a room you guys but you seem to have already done that!😂 love this album tho
hell yeah dudes

Lol JT is Elton Castee's long lost brother... similar mannerisms and and looks... 🤣
Yes!
While the breakdowns are always cool, especially for ERRA I’ve always cared about their lyrics more than the breakdowns
Bleak
you guys should just go full space odyssey next time.
Shoes on...aaaa triggered. Cool stuff tho.
Nah they wanted more than pillow talk lol
JT PLEASE GET YOUR SHOES OFF THE BED 😫

Crawl Backwards doesn't stick with you? @LIV3FAST88
@@PrenticeJones-fh2ew I think that was the lowest rated song when I reviewed the album. Forgettable noise.
